Did you fail Home Ec?

I didn't fail, but I didn't so hot either. Luckily...I found a website called Home Ec 101 for Home Ec failures like myself.

I thought it was a great site, wonderfully and wittily written.

I will admit it. Yes, I failed Home Ec. I failed miserably:confused3 I still have not lived that down.:lmao:

No but I didn't do so great either.

Way back then (the 80's) we had to make a really ugly skirt (and wear it to school). I had to get another girl to help me. She knew how to do all that stuff.

I did not fail Home Ec. (took it in 7th grade back in the 70s) but I could not thread that stupid
"bobbin" thing on the sewing machine for the life of me!!

No,but I burned an iron sized hole in the skirt of my final project. This was in the 70's=my skirt wasn't much bigger than the iron.

I was actually awesome at Home-Ec, which is funny since I probably haven't cooked in the decade since! :)

Well, when I took Home Ec it was divided into 2 sections - cooking and sewing. I completely aced the cooking portion and then bombed the sewing and ended up with a C.

Let's just say that if my mom hadn't helped me with my last sewing project I might have failed! The cooking was a breeze. But, sewing machines just DO NOT LIKE me!:rotfl2: I can mess up a perfectly good sewing machine in nothing flat!lol

Even worse, I won the Home Ec award for being the top student that year.:rotfl: If you knew me, you would see the irony.

Well I majored in Home Ec :rolleyes1. My department in college used to be called the College of Home Economics. They changed the name to Human Environmental Sciences at some point though. :lmao:

Funny enough though, I was just looking through one of my old report cards and one semester I got all As and 1 B. The B was in Home Ec. Are you kidding me? That's my "thing" and I got a B? :rotfl:

My high school didn't have home Ec.
Probably explains why I don't cook or do the laundry today.:)

Not in Jr High School but maybe currently...

It was a long time ago but since I can't cook, can't sew, and hate to clean, I'm guessing yes.

In ninth grade, I remember stirring dry rice around in a double boiler and wondering why my rice wasn't cooking. When my teacher looked at me like I was a complete idiot and told me I needed to add water, I thought it was funny and laughed.:rotfl: Unfortunately, she had no sense of humor!:confused3

I didn't fail Home Ec, but I went to the hospital emergency room twice during class.

I didn't fail at all, but I'd love to see the website.

As embarassing as this is....I was so bad at Home Ec that the teacher actually sewed the vest that we had to make for me. She felt that it would be safer that way. Something about me failing her "sewing license" test.
But I was pretty good at cooking though.
Oh well, its not like I've ever attempted to sew anything since and I have no desire to either.

I was great at the cooking part of home ec, but I was horrible at the sewing. Our project for the end of the term was to sew a pair of boxer shorts. The teacher had us all lay out our fabric and then we were supposed to cut out our pattern. Well I guess I wasn't paying attention because when everyone else began cutting their pattern I cut my pattern and my fabric! I ended up having to wait for another package of pattern/fabric to be ordered and shipped to the school, so I just sat around doing nothing for a couple of weeks while everyone made fun of me for being so dumb.

I did get a perserverance award out of the whole thing :lmao:
