Did you ever feel the need to butt into some strangers Disney conversation?

I was at the deli today during lunch and two guys in line in front of me were talking about an upcoming trip to Disney. One guy was going and the other was trying to give advice.

The advice giving guy (guy 1) asked guy 2 if he had ever been to MGM!!! I bit my tongue and continued listening. He obviously hadnt been to Disney in a while and technically it was called MGM at one point, so I felt no need to say anything.

Then, he said to guy 2, that he should see the fireworks show there at night...called Illuminations. Huh? Still not important enough to say anything...doo ta doo...I just kept listening.

Next he said that guy 2 should def. go to Aloha's for dinner. He went on and on about the skewers of food served. Aloha's!!???? Still, Im sure if Guy 2 called for ressies or checked it out, any CM would realize he wants something at the Polynesian, so either this guy is going to end up at the SoA show or eat at Ohanas.

Last, Guy 2 said he was going to be in FL for 4 days. They are staying off property and got 3 day tickets for DW. He said his sons were looking forward to riding the new rollercoaster, Mt Everest (still not worth correcting. they'll figure it out later). Guy 1 said "Thats at MGM, so if you are only going for 3 days, you should skip Animal Kingdom"

Me ---- "Umm, excuse me. I didnt mean to eavesdrop, BUT......"

:lmao::lmao::lmao:

I'm in tears here. I usually can't help myself from interrupting a Disney conversation but I just might have laughed to hard to but into that 1.

Thanx I needed that.

Almost. We were at dinner the other night and there were 2 middle aged couples discussing one of their children's weddings. Well, I guess the newlyweds were going to Disney for their honeymoon and one couple was like, I would never go to Disneyworld for my Honeymoon! The other couple just shrugged their shoulders

I was like what?!?!? Hello Number One honeymoon destination in the World!
DH and I just rolled our eyes and DS13 said well 4 less people standing in line in front of us.

I have butted in on conversations when people were giving bad advice though. I just can't help myself.

I'm guilty. I've done it more than once.

I actually had a friend call me last night and asked if I would call a friend of hers, whom I don't know, and answer some questions she has about WDW. I couldn't get off the phone fast enough to dial a complete stranger to discuss WDW.

Only all the time.

I usually bite my tongue, but when people call it Disneyland, and you KNOW they are talking about Florida, my blood boils and I HAVE to correct them.

Also, I hate when people call things by the wrong name when they ask you about your vacation...

"Did you ride Spaceship Mountain roller coaster?" :headache:

"Oh, when we stayed there, we stayed at that Carribbean Island Resort! Do you know that one?"

"We loved that ride the Haunted House!!!" :sad2:

Poor guy, I hope he looks that stuff up and doesn't just listen to his friend.

Oh, my God - I am so guilty of this.

I overhear sometihng and then I hear, "Mom, no. No random Disney chatting with strangers."

But I can't help myself.

I do it all the time!!

I can understand that, as I would never go to Disney World on a honeymoon either. And none of these would bother me in the slightest -

"Did you ride Spaceship Mountain roller coaster?"

"Oh, when we stayed there, we stayed at that Carribbean Island Resort! Do you know that one?"

"We loved that ride the Haunted House!!!"

Generally if I overhear someone talking about going to Disney, I say something like - Oh, you will have so much fun!

Of course...it's like you can't stop yourself

Heck, I even planned a trip for the mail lady that delivers mail to my DH's office :rotfl2:I was almost 9 months pregnant and she asked DH a few questions and he told her to call me. She didn't want to because she thought it would be bothering me...he of course told her that was a crazy thought :rotfl2:

I have been known to give WDW advise to unsuspecting strangers without being asked. I am also guilty of still calling DHS, MGM. It started as MGM and in my feeble little mind that is what I think of first. When I see someone write DHS on here, it takes me a few seconds to figure out what they are talking about.

I am right there with you. It is burned in my brain as MGM. I have to really think DHS, DHS or it rolls off the tongue MGM! Even when we were there!

I do this. I have Disney radar and can pick up conversations related to Disney in a 1 mi. radius! I can't help but "help"!

oh i butt in disney conversations all the time.

once i was IN disney world and we were riding the train around mk. the family in front of us was quietly arguing about how to get to "you know, that haunted house thing" and then the kid was getting antsy, and the mom says, "oh honey, you'll like MGM more, there are rides there."

another time i was in animal kingdom (eating at pizzafari) and i "paid" by swiping my room key, becuase we had the dining plan. the man behind me obviously saw what i was doing and told his kids that he didn't know where people kept getting these disney credit cards. i had to turn around and enlighten him. about the dining plan.

another time i was in the mara at akl, and (this was right after the dining plan was introduced) and a woman was really really confused about snack credits, and i offered to explain them to her, and showed her what was a snack credit (at the time, the options were rather limited)

lol..me too.
And, it seems I take any opportunity I can when finding someone in a Mickey shirt, carrying a Disney bag or so on...I tell them how much I love that item, in HOPES that we will begin discussing Disney :goodvibes

LOL..me too.. I'm getting better, but I think it will always be MGM to me. That'd probably be the only thing that I wouldn't have corrected in the OP conversation....lol

Yes, I do! I have a hard time holding back when people are giving wrong information. But, the funniest that I have ever overheard I didn't correct!

DH and I were eating at 50's Prime Time about 2 days before Christmas in 2007. A family was seated at the table next to us, and they had literally just driven in from out of town, had tickets for their whole stay and were the "by golly I paid for that day I'm not going to let it go to waste" type. They had two kids, one of whom was asleep when they came in and who slept on the bench through the entire meal, and an older daughter of about 7. Mom and Dad were both completely exhausted and not in very good moods. Anyway, you know they play clips on the little tv's at Prime Time, and the clip of the opening ceremony at Disneyland was playing. The little girl said something to the effect of "Oh, look, its Sleeping Beauties castle at Disneyland." Mom looked at her and said, and I quote, "No honey, there is no castle at Disneyland, that is what the castle here used to look like before they redid it." I had such a hard time keeping a straight face and not just busting out laughing. If mom and dad hadn't been cranky I would have said something... I did text all my Disney buddies right then and there just so I could share the humor.

Now THAT is just a stupid one! I don't know if I would have been able to contain myself... I hate when people make their kids feel stupid! That little girl knew her stuff! I probably would have said just that! "Excuse me, but YOU are wrong! Your DD really knows her stuff!" Then I would have shot a ;) at the DD. :goodvibes

I loved everyones stories!! Thanks

I am glad to see I am not alone! I try to mind my own business, but sometimes, I cant contain myself!!:confused3

Occasionally I will...

But most of the time I will just chuckle at the comments.

Also....You can count me among those who still refer to Hollywood Studios as MGM or Disney-MGM.
