I'm going to challenge that claim and ask how you saved $3000.00 on food. How long were you there? I'm just finding it a bit hard to believe anyone could rack up a bill (if they were paying) of $3000 on food.

Even if you were there 14 days, as many Brits are, you're talking $214 per day in food. How many were in your party? I'm curious to know how your dining bill could have been that high.

there were 4 in the party and yes we did keep every recipt we noted the price charged for each meal, dont forget the $3000.00 includes the 18% tip included. An example of a days meal schedule
Breakfast using snack credits bakery item $4 x4 = $16.00
diinner at backlot in mgm sandwitch desert and drink $14.00 x 4=$56.00
Evening meal at wolfganp pucks cafe non alocoholick drink, appitizer, entray and desert total for the 4 of us $260.00
For that day $332.00 and we dident order the most expencive on the menue
We had quite a few 2 TS creit meals so thats why meall total is only $3000.00
not $3500 which it could have been
If you want can list everything we eat each day

$214/day on food really isn't that much for a family if you include a table service restaurant. Great savings, Paul. It seems like the free dining offers exceptional value-for-money! Just wish we were travelling late August next year....

If you hadn't had the free dining would you have eaten the same amount of meals at the same restaurants?

We have done the DDP for two years now, and love it, must admitt we would not normal eat this much food.

We are in discussions whether to change next years holiday from fly drive/cruise, to a stay with the free dinning plan.

I did not keep our receipts but can remember most of our evening meals were near $100, a couple of them were over $100, and lunch worked out at $20.

We payed $1200 ish for 2 weeks, we did save money.

We did ddp last sept (paid for didn't get it free!) and our bills for table service were around $100 too, Le Cellier was the most expensive at $190! Breakfast was more than we would have paid offsite. We had 12 snacks left over at the end of the holiday.

We wouldn't have spent so much on food if we had been paying out of pocket for it, prob visited places like sizzlers, golden corral, etc., but we got to eat at some great disney restaurants and the 900 pounds + it cost us was definitely worth it.

WOW! That's an amazing savings (and an amazing amount of food!). My family would never 'get our money's worth' out of if. We couldn't eat that much, that often!

Congrats on a great 'investment'! :thumbsup2 I'm stuffed just reading about it. ;)

if we were paying out of pocket we would spend $2100 for the 4 of us.
To me the DDP is to much food, plus now you can use your snacks at goofys candy shhop for anything $4 and under.Over the 2 weeks we eat at
bomas 1ts
hop de do 2ts
crystal palace 1ts
wolfgang puck cafe 1ts
california grill 2ts
lpoly uau 2 ts
raglan road 1ts
holywood + vine 1ts
yachtsman steak house 2ts
o hanas 1 ts
next time we would do more sit down ts rather than buffets and less 2ts

WOW what a great saving Paul! I haven't done DDP yet but we have it free for next year so i'm currently mulling over which restaurants to try popcorn:: If we didn't have free dining i'm not sure if we'd pay for it, would probably just eat offsite more like we have done on previous hols.

Crikey I'll have to go in training as we could never eat this amount :faint:

I'm looking at Wolfgang Puck Cafe's menu and you (all) would literally have had to order the most expensive appetizer, entree and dessert on the menu to get to $65.00 per person with no alcohol. That's the only way you could rack up $260 for dinner at WPCafe. That's a lotta food!!

Sounds like the dining plan was worth it for your group. :thumbsup2

Not really!!

The $260 was the total, which includes tax and gratuity of 18% - which added together accounts for 24.5% of the bill.
So really only $196 approx for the meal, which between 4 people is only $50 per person not $65pp. I think $50 is pretty average per person for 3 courses and a drink.

Dont forget the 18% tip is included in the $3000 total. So the wolfgang puck food bill would ahve been $205 and $45 for the tip,all paid by the free dinning

We were just looking at the menu and prices and trying to figure out what it would take to come up with the numbers you gave, as a matter of curiosity, since they seemed rather high. Our numbers and yours don't match.

No big deal. I was just asking out of curiosity. :)
