Did we really just buy DVC at BLT? Taking MIL in Dec! Acronyms abound!

Oh my gosh!!! Pooh looks too cute in his costume!!!! I love it!!! What a wonderful idea!!! :lovestruc
Thank you! he had a great time.

Our halloween was fun. We spent most of this weekend helping my mom and dad move into their newly built house. They moved from the city we grew up in, a suburb of dallas to much further north. Still same distance driving as before (20 minutes) from us, but much nicer area and less traffic for the drive! yeah! it is a gorgeous home, 3 car garage and all that. so was super busy helping them get settled.

Took Pooh ToT'ing last night. He had fun. I think he had more fun handing out candy though than getting it. I told him next year we will be trick or treating in disney for MNSSHP.

here are a few halloween pics:

TO DO LIST

check check check!

Got a lot more done on my to do list this week/end and today!

  • order 12/9 MVMCP tickets- DONE- got the DVC discount! will pick up at will call window. we have to go to guest services any how to activate our APs and order our TIW card.
  • make our room request- even numbered, north facing for our lakeview one bedroom at BLT- done with member services today
  • change room reservation- remove Fred's name, add Lindsey, my niece- DONE!
  • ship goodie bag to Lindsey and my MIL- done on Friday! They should have them today hopefully
  • verify my ADRs- done! all there!
  • ordered my disney visa rewards cards- now has $300 on it!
Yes, i finally gave in to the paranoia and called disney dining to confirm my ADRs. they are all showing up, so i feel confident. 3 of them show up online anyhow, but the others were missing. I am not worried about it and have an ADR # for all of them.

so what's left to do- well we are now just 22 work days away from the trip. I've put in my vacation time at work officially (including a comp day i had earned!).

  • I need to start slowly packing some and figured out what else i need to buy- like tolietry stuff- what i have and don't have. going to work on that this weekend. i know i need some small things- like more glow in the dark necklaces, tums, coffee cups and filters for the rooms etc. DH and MIL are coffee drinkers (I am not), so i figured we could make it in room and use those throwaway star bucks type cups with lids, so they can take coffee with them each am!
  • I am going to borrow my sister's suitcase since she has a bigger one than my mickey one. time to start pulling out clothes!
  • We do need to order Lindsey's park hopper, but waiting until closer to the trip for it.
  • need to find the car service we used last year and call and book for a pick up for this year too and get quotes. but really all the big stuff is done.
  • finalize grocery order
  • laminate/print itinerary and put in my phone!

i really can't wait!! i am hoping these next few weeks fly by! work is somewhat busy, so that is good- keeping things going instead of dragging at least.

We do plan to visit the new disney store that just opened here in Dallas. We are going to head that way on saturday afternoon after my sister's baby shower at 2pm. it should have all the cool new interactive stuff to check out!

we are so excited we can hardly stand it!!!:santa::santa::santa::santa::santa:

Wow! You have been a busy little bee!! I still have so much to do. I think I would do so much better if I would stop making list after list! :lmao:

I'm not exactly sure how I missed this, but I'm so excited to be very "tardy for the party" and join in on your PTR. I was a regular reader of last year's December PTR because we were going at the same time and while we aren't making another trip this December, I am going back in February...so I need to read all the PTRs I can to hold myself over for the next three months. :)

So excited to hear you guys are going back again this year...it sounds like you have a great trip planned from what I've read so far. Heading back now to read a few more installments.

WOW...I need to get started marking some things off on my to-do list! After reading this I feel like such a slacker!! 30 days left...I need to get motivated to get some things done!! It's getting so close! I'm finally getting back to the 'excited' frame of mind, although still a little nervous about how things are going to work out

ONE MONTH OUT!:santa::santa::santa::santa::santa::santa:

woo hoo! today, November 4th, we are one month out from our December 4th departure! I will have never been so happy to wake up at 3am as i will be on that day (6:20am flight!).

So this week was the first time my son asked about disney world on his own. usually we are talking about it all together. He randomly asked 'when we going to disney world'!!!! woo hoo. We are still doing our countdown calendar and have moved over to the next month, so he is excited.

So accomplishments this week:

  • picked up my sister's suitcase. this thing could fit two toddlers in it- it is huge. i hope we can just manage to fit all our stuff in there. my goal is NOT to overpack since we have a w/d in room.
  • bought more shirts for DS- he needed some more long sleeve undershirts- white and gray to wear under his cute disney t-shirts. done!
  • grocery list- i have it almost finalized today. talked to my SIL about what my niece will eat etc. also read a thread about 'how much food do you waste' in your room. so i think i am going to cut back our order some. we do have a tableservice meal planned each day. while we are not on the DP, we still can grab something if we are hungry- i mean it isn't like there isn't food around. and we aren't on a super tight budget on the food or anything either, so it isn't like we have to eat more meals in our room. I am planning 1-2 lunches, one dinner and then 4-5 breakfasts. so going to go back in and tone the order down a bit!
i'll have to post some pics of the mammouth suitcase this weekend!

I was working on my DL photos today (at a scrapbooking retreat all weekend) and I thought of you! I went last January with one of my BFF's. We had a wonderful time. I was thinking about your DL trip, though, while scrapping today. :goodvibes

woo hoo- 26 days!!! and only 18 work days! we can't wait.

so this weekend we went to the grand opening of the new disney store in Dallas at northpark mall. It wasn't as large as I expected. There was a huge crowd because Mickey was making an appearance for photos (no autographs) from 12-4pm. There was a line setup to even get in the store and a separate line to see mickey- it was about 100 deep easy when i got there at 11:30. so we skipped that, we'll be dining with mickey in under 30 days anyhow- why wait 100 deep when we won't have to wait at all or just for a few at disney!

ry%3D400

The wait to get in the store wasn't bad. they gave out free mouse ears to everyone, plus a goofy's candy store lollipop and a rubber keychain. The store itself was nice- it had the interactive video trees, which were very cool- alternating between falling leaves, snowflakes and even presents! There was the castle area where you could see a princess in the mirror, but we didn't get to try it out. There was a movie area too set up like a gazebo. Then a small little mickey mouse playhouse for toddlers to crawl through and press buttons. there was also the cars area for kids to 'build their own' remote control car. It wasn't a huge area, probably room for 3-4 kids at once to do it.

My mom bought a bunch of stuff- including some christmas pajamas for Will and a christmas stuffed mickey. I also got some aluminum water bottles- a tink one for Lindsey and a mickey for Will for the trip. It will fit nicely in his stroller. She also got a free disney store tinkerbell pin for her purchase (she was on the store list and got a special invite and offer for the pin).

It was fun checking out the new store and getting a few fun supplies for our trip!

I have my backpack almost all packed and the suitcase is out and I have started throwing stuff in it - bathing suits, a William is 3 t-shirt with mickey on it etc.

I also found these cuties at WalGreens for $3 each!

Looks like a fun store! I totally agree, I never would have waited in line with Disney right around the corner.

I so wish we had a Walgreens here!! The closest one is over an hour away... and not somewhere I plan on going before the trip! Shoot!

your store is way cooler than any of ours

I wouldn't have waited to see Mickey either. We were going to go to the opening of the Festival of Lights in Niagara Falls this weekend because Mickey and Minne were going to be there, but I changed my mind. Forget those crowds we will be at the mouses house in a month!!!

ah, so sweet! don't you love the little special 'girls' trips? so much fun. i love scrapping too!!

they really have such cute disney stuff on the cheap for the holidays!! might be worth a trip? ;)

yeah, that was what i thought. it was insane. heck, we will barely wait in line AT disney if it is more than 10 people deep. :lmao:

UpDATES!!

So budget so far. I thought DVC was supposed to save us money?? :confused3:rotfl::rotfl2:
We've paid for everything except for niece's and MIL's flights, they did pay for those.

Tickets/APs- $1800
MVMCP tickets- $260
Grocery delivery- $140
Car service to airport- $130
BBB- $60
Flights (3)- $990
Meals (estimated for 8 TS, 7 QS)- $1100
TIW card- $75
Rental car- $225
So grand total so far: $4780 for 5 people.

that doesn't include our hotel of course, since we are using DVC points for that. While it is a little more than i expected, we are going all out- eating where we want, and splurging! Plus, the great news is next year, our DVC will be all paid off (hoping to pay it off in December completely!!!), i have 2 free flight vouchers on AA and enough miles for a free flight. We will have APs, so no tickets needed either. So next october, all we need to pay for is food and car really! yippeee!

And in other news:

  • Grocery order- check! $138 later on garden grocer....ordered OJ, cokes, bottled water, breakfast foods, milk, sandwich fixins and lasagna and salad. we will do 4-5 breakfasts in the room, 1-2 lunches and one dinner.
  • Car service- check! booked a local car service to drive us from our home to DFW airport. Only about 20-30 minutes away- but with a 4am pick up time and need to fit 5, the SUV and driver is going to run us about $125. Worth it in my book. Parents are picking us up on the way back.
  • BBB- check! booked for my niece! It is on our arrival day at 12:40. We arrive at 9:45am. I had planned to head to DTD first thing anyhow for lunch at Earle. I am hoping we can get our bags, rental car (national- no waiting at desk) and arrive DTD by 11am. I couldn't get the MK location- i tried a variety of days and all booked up- so this was the best day to work for us. We just are doing the coach package!
So that's all i have for now. but in other news, i have also made headway on my christmas shopping! I buy a lot of little things all year and sorted through it today at lunch. My family exchanges $5 stocking stuffers for the adults and goes all out for the kids. I have all the stocking stuffers done except for two! I have 2 of the kids bought for as well. So i am doing pretty well- more money to use and save for disney!:santa::santa::santa:

Isn't is amazing how things add up when you aren't looking?!? :lmao: Just think though, next trip will seem so inexpensive!

yeah, it does add up, but i just keep thinking how next year it will be much cheaper - since we invested this year for the APs!:wizard:

so 22 days!!! it is coming up so fast!!:santa:

Are you guys planning on being at the MK meet on the 6th? I would love to meet you and your handsome little man!!!

DAY FOUR- TUESDAY, DECEMBER 7

Well our trip is a Saturday-Saturday, 7 nights total. But we arrive by 10am on the first day, so that is really a full day. And we will have until about 3:30 on our last Saturday, so i consider our trip to be 7.5 days. We almost always take a break day on our longer trips- however, our 'longer' trips are usually 8-10 days.

So since time is precious and we have two first timers on board, I don't want to do a 'break day'. Usually our break day consists of sleeping in, touring the resort, other resorts, lunch at a resort, swimming or something else fun (like Hoop Dee Doo etc.). Just not going to the park, so we can rest a bit and not rush.

So instead of a 'break' day, i figured i would try for a 'break' night/afternoon. So since this is day 4 and we have been going for 3 days straight, i figured this was a good time for our break evening.

so here is how the day goes:
7am- wake up and eat breakfast in the room! We plan to head to the AK and be in the car by 8:15 or shortly after. We will arrive AK and hopefully be there in time for rope drop. AK opens at 9am that day. This is our only day/visit to AK. I do actually really enjoy AK- it seems after my third time there, i really started to fall in love with it more. I know it sort of gets cast off a lot of times by folks, but we do enjoy it, probably helps we aren't touring it in the heat of summer when it is pretty miserable there under all the foliage.

So arrive at AK for RD- I think i will let the crew take their time going in and have them head back towards the safari while i go grab FPs for Expedition Everest. Then I'll meet them at Safari (hopefully catch up before they get there) and do standby for the safari.
ry%3D400

hopefully we will see some great animals! Pooh loves giraffes!
ry%3D400

After that, we will probably make our way back towards Dinoland and try and do Dinosaur. Of course we will have to use child swap here, so one of us can take Pooh on the little Triceratop spin while the others do Dinosaur. I also want to try and do Primeval Whirl, it is one of my favorites and I missed it last time.
ry%3D400

I figure it will be 11am by now or 11:30. So we will let Pooh have a chance to play in the Boneyard for a little bit while we have a little snack or drink and wrap up Dinoland. Last year, we didn't get to do the boneyard, so i want him to have the chance this time. Since we will have knocked out EE and safari, i am cool with slowing down some now.

So i figure by now it is say noon or 12:30- i figure we will head to EE and use our FP for whoever wants to ride. DH isn't a big coaster guy- he gets a little motion sickness especially on rides like Star Tours with a 'movie'. He will ride anything once, but usually declines a second ride on most coasters. :rotfl:So after EE, it will be lunchtime!
ry%3D400

We usually do flame tree barbecue, but i figured we will leave it open for discussion and maybe try Yak and Yeti quick service. Pooh loves the honey chicken at Pei Wei, so i know he would like it here and it would be a good change of pace. Since we are near the jungle trek, we will probably do it- we've done both before, but skipped the maharajah one last time.

maybe we will get lucky and run into:
ry%3D400

We will then head back to Africa and board the train to the Conversation Station. I don't know if the train at MK will be closed due to FL construction or not, so we want to do the train here. We will spend some time at Conservation Station and head back.
Maybe Pooh can pet something!
ry%3D400

at this point, depending on the time and FOTLK shows, we will either head to Camp Minnie Mickey for the show and characters or to the Tree of Life for the ITTBAB show and exploring the area around the tree.

After that, we are done! Now we don't usually devote a whole day to AK. And there are a few things we plan to skip- including Kali River Rapids, I've done it 3x now and just don't think it is anything special and we are there in December, could be chilly. I don't want to be all wet. We are also going to save the Nemo show for another trip. I also am skipping the flights of wonder show.

We don't have a set time we need to be done by, but I am hoping we can get out of there by 4 or so. I don't have plans for us to watch the parade either- we just aren't huge parade people- again, something to do with us not liking to wait and stake out a spot early. We will hopefully catch MSEP at the MK and also the Christmas parade during MVMCP and that is enough parading for us. I figure we can get more done while the parade is going on maybe if we are still there (like characters in Camp Minnie Mickey). We've actually never done the characters at Camp Minnie Mickey before.
ry%3D400

AK closes at 5 today, so we will be done by then at least hopefully. This is the ONLY day we are going straight through a park without a midday break (other than fast food lunch). I am hoping Pooh can handle it. He currently still takes a nap (2 hours) each day at his day care/Montessori. ON weekends he is starting to forgo naps, but can be cranky by evening. So we will see how he handles it.

So after tackling AK, back to the car, drive back to BLT and head to the room and relax a bit. Maybe go for a swim even. The plan tonight is to just enjoy the room/resort. We will cook some frozen stouffers lasagna, bagged salad and enjoy our only dinner in the room this night.

We are also going to take advantage of something really cool- the Top of the World Lounge!!! Since own at BLT and are staying at points, we get entrance to this exclusive lounge at the top of BLT. Since it is Tuesday, it is a MVMCP night, which means the holiday WISHES will be going off at 9:30pm. So we will head up at like 9ish probably and enjoy a cocktail or two and watch WISHES from up there! Should be magical. Then a quick hop skip and jump back to our room for a decent bedtime- hopefully by 10!

 LOVE your plan for this day...and am SO jealous of the fireworks view you will have! That will be so special. I hope you really get to enjoy it.

Are you guys planning on being at the MK meet on the 6th? I would love to meet you and your handsome little man!!!
what time and where is the meet on the 6th? I must have missed it- doh!;)

we will be in the MK in the evening on the 6th. WE have a 5pm Ohana ADR and then are hoofing it over to the MK by monorail (riding monorail to dinner from BLT, yippee!). I am hoping to catch MSEP that night at 7pm. hopefully we make it in time!

 LOVE your plan for this day...and am SO jealous of the fireworks view you will have! That will be so special. I hope you really get to enjoy it.
yes, we are so excited and i also requested an even number north room, so hoping that gets us a partial fireworks view, even though our room is a lake view room. i guess some of the units on the end, you can see bay lake, but also some of the MK!!! it's just a request of course, so we will see. ;):santa:

We are planning on meeting by the Partners statue about 15 minutes after fireworks. I am hoping to get a few people together to watch the MSEP and Wishes as well.... We will be having dinner at 1900 PF at 5:00 that night and hoping to make it back for a semi-decent spot for MSEP.
