Instead of putting all that time and energy into something as selfish as this, perhaps you could have fed a homeless person, donated clothing or toys to a childrens shelter, or just go out of your way to make someones day nicer. Lets stop thinking about ourselves for a moment and help out.

Yes it seems like alot but take a bit of perspective

It costs 50 dollars for a day at Disney. One disney day equals 10 hours (give or take) which equals 5 dollars an hour.

Take going to the local movie theatre on a weeknight- 9.50 for a movie at night. Most movies are an hour and 20 minutes which works out to be around $7.20 for an hour.


or take a show in Vegas $275 per show for 2 hours= $137.5 per hour...

Compared to that Disney is a good deal


My personal view- As long as Disney keeps getting better they can have my money

I agree with what everyone else has said. Disney is a vacation...if you think it is too much to spend then don't go. It is your choice.

Absolutely not. I do not consider the increase in rate for AP's (at 5%) to be HUGE. Also, they were anticipated and well announced so everyone had equal opportunity to get their passes before the rates went up. As others have said, I would much sooner complain about the gas prices, which go up and down .20 at a time each week.

Hopefully you will be able to find someplace else to spend your hard-earned dollars. More room at Disney for me!!

I saw this deal and was wondering about it. I've never been to Universal, but everything I've read about it makes it sound as if 2 days is enough to see/do pretty much everything. If that is the case then a 5 day ticket is pointless. Can you really spend 5 days at Universal? If so, that would be a tremendous value! TIA

Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure in my experience would take up three full dedicated days to take in and enjoy - with older kids, they could easily spend a 4th day there as well

I still stand by I am suspicious when Disney raises prices faster than the general Consumer Price Index

Yeah, it's too bad they raised ticket prices again, but aren't we used to it? What's a few dollars more? It's worth the money to get away from this serious world and have a break from reality. Personally I'm a day tripper (hehehe), I love going at the spur of the moment. What it will cost is not a factor when having fun is at stake! What does bother me is the fact that they will charge you $2 for a bottle of soda. But what are ya gonna do? I'm not leaving and they know it. So I happily pay $2 and quench my theme park thirst...

Excuse me that is alttle harsh don't ya think. And how do you know that OP does not already do this.

This last increase may not be so large in your opinion but there is no need to attack the OP.

By the way on 06/08/02 I paid 251.99 plus tax for a 6 day Park Hopper Plus

Today that same ticket is- 295.00 if ordered early or 332.30 if not
that is a $43 dollar increase in less than 2 years or right at 15% at the $295. rate and $80.31 or over 30% increase over onsite purchase. In 2002 I did not have to prebuy to get this rate. Today I do.

I will not write but I will protest and vote against Mikey every time I have the chance.

We went to see a matinee at the movies last weekend and it wasn't even at a mall which was higher priced than where we went (privately owned theatre). My DH and 2 DS's shared a medium popcorn and we all got drinks. The cost...$35. Might not sound bad but when you compare the enjoyment and magic you get when you go to Disney...NO COMPARISON!!

No one likes to pay more for ANYTHING...but WDW isn't the only place raising prices.

To me maintaining the same prices while reducing the product is the same as raising prices and maintaining the same product.

Think about that before calling out the OP.

I didn't complain then and I am not complaining now. WDW is a business, not a right or entitlement. Just like any other business, they are entitled to make a profit.

If you don't like it, just don't go.

But so did all the other parks. Sure, Universal has deals, but a lot of people don't know to look for those, and so they buy the tickets at rack rate. To them, it costs just as much for one theme park as another one. And Universal has now raised their prices twice this season (and it's only April). I understood the first increase, what with Mummy opening this month, but the second one was strictly a "keeping up with the Joneses" thing. Did they REALLY need to bump up their prices by 80 cents? I'm not saying you shouldn't feel the way you feel about the Disney price increase, but hopefully that same suspicion carries over to the other parks as well.

Not harsh just putting things in perspective on how crazy it is to protest prices for a theme park when there are so many other things to worry about.

And do you think Eisner's sucessor won't raise park prices?

Why do people think that Disney is not in the business of making money? That it is exempt from participating in normal business practices? Its not about the "magic". Its about the almighty dollar.

Disney has such a good product, that the people who are "protesting" this increase are still going to give the mouse the money it wants for its operations.

I didn't complain. I don't use EE or e nights. We stay at the Poly but do not use that perk. We go during low season anyway where we are used to less hours so that wasn't noticed either. Those cuts have not affected me at all. WDW is a bargain for the price. You cannot find that much entertainment anywhere for the price of admission.

We got APs for US two years ago that only cost $99. We booked a trip for 5 days there. It was 3 days longer then we needed! By day 3 I was wishing I were back at WDW where I had just spent 10 days at. US gets very boring after a couple of days.

It was a rhetorical question but none the less "good for you".


My point was if Disney discountinued EE effective immediately, and, I don't know, closed the parks at 6:00 pm through the summer and on to the end of the year. Someone would start a thread about how Disney is jerking around the consumer, and there would be 1000 "Amen Brother" responses right behind it.

But

Disney raises its ticket prices, one person posts saying essentially Disney is jerking around the consumer, and the majority of posts jump down the throat of the OP.


Both actions are the same. If your profits aren't where you want them you either spend less money on your product, or you increase your price.

You vote with your MONEY. The best protest is not to go if you don't think it is worth it.

I don't think contacting them will do much good if you continue to go and spend money. The decision to spend the money is the big vote and each of us has to make our own decision on that.
