:joker: Having just returned I just wondered if there was a reason for the army of England fans across in WDW? Whole families of shirts,t-shirts,shorts,bikinis,trunks,towels,caps,flags.......... :stir:
SD :rotfl:

England played last Saturday and Wednesday. You didn't miss much though we had a draw on Saturday and Lost 2-0 on Wednesday

I feel really strongly about this because its not really being patriotic. The only time we are patriotic in this country is to do with sport.. and thats more of a competitive thing - how many of these people celebrate St Georges day? How many feel strongly about the history and culture of this country? Not many of them... but they like to wear their England shirts.

The reason I am embarrassed about it, is that very often (of course not ALL the time) many of the british people I see wearing this kit at WdW, are rude, inconsiderate and often arguing with eachother in a rather loud manner....and basically not very good ambassadors for England. Plus, every other English family is wearing them... do they have 10 shirts all the same, or just wear the same thing every day? :stir: :stir: :stir:

I am extremely proud to be English. I wouldnt be seen dead in an England shirt. I think they look tacky, cheap (although I know that they are not) boiling hot (even though apparently they are cool and airy), and more suited (bizarrely enough) to a football pitch and not walking around a theme park.

Im sorry, but this is a really big bug-bear of mine!
I think if the British were Patriotic at times other than those related to international football games I wouldnt feel so strongly about it. My american friends out in Orlando just laugh at everyone in their "uniforms"..

Puts on flame proof suit and ducks. I know I am going to be sacrificed here.... go on... let me have it! :)

:rotfl: not at all !!

maybe not yet Natalie! ;)

I would be interested actually, if someone can give me a good arguement as to why they wear these shirts..(and not the patriotism thing as we all know thats not true!) maybe I would look at them in a different way.

:thumbsup2

... in the same way I don't understand people that travel to the other side of the world and spend virtually the whole time (and vast sums of money) inside Disney Corporation property, rarely venturing outside to see the rest of what Orlando/Florida has to offer.

I know the Bill Shankly (RIP) quote of "Football isn't life or death, it's more important than that", is taking things too far. But after caring about my family, I love nothing more than my rugby & football teams and to show this, I will wear a shirt to show my support.

:rotfl2: Probably because they want to and they have the money to do it. Everyone has the right to choose what they want to do (Football shirts, holidays, cars whatever), what annoy's me is when people constantly shout them down - it is those people that need to move on!!!

If you want the simple answer to why people wear these football shirts it is because they are subject to Billie Piper's Law. (i.e. Because they want to, Because they want to.. :teeth: )

I'd personally have no interest; give me a pair of Mickey Mouse ears or a DS with a pokemon game inside it over anything football related anyday.. :)
