patriotism...the americans do it so well...why are we embarressed by it
I feel really strongly about this because its not really being
patriotic. The only time we are patriotic in this country is to do with sport.. and thats more of a competitive thing - how many of these people celebrate St Georges day? How many feel strongly about the history and culture of this country? Not many of them... but they like to wear their England shirts.
The reason I am embarrassed about it, is that very often (of course not ALL the time) many of the british people I see wearing this kit at WdW, are rude, inconsiderate and often arguing with eachother in a rather loud manner....and basically not very good ambassadors for England. Plus, every other English family is wearing them... do they have 10 shirts all the same, or just wear the same thing every day?
I am extremely proud to be English. I wouldnt be seen dead in an England shirt. I think they look tacky, cheap (although I know that they are not) boiling hot (even though apparently they are cool and airy), and more suited (bizarrely enough) to a football pitch and not walking around a theme park.
Im sorry, but this is a really big bug-bear of mine!
I think if the British were Patriotic at times other than those related to international football games I wouldnt feel so strongly about it. My american friends out in Orlando just laugh at everyone in their "uniforms"..
Puts on flame proof suit and ducks. I know I am going to be sacrificed here.... go on... let me have it!
