Did I get some Disney magic?

After checking the DCL website continually, I find tonight that my daughter and I have finally been given a cabin number, 5148. Then it still says Cat. 9 beneath that. So I say and thank my lucky stars I am even on the ship. I look the cabin up in my Passporter's book. Lo and behold, I HAVE A VERANDAH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So I am double checking... Why wouldn't they take off the cat.9 and make it a 6? Do they just leave the room number instead? I have triple checked and this room number is on deck 5 and is a cat. 6 verandah. I am in shock to say the least. I originally started out with a cat. 12 and just upgraded last month to a 9. This is such a pleasant surprise. My daughter has been very ill this year so this trip is quite special for us. We leave 3 weeks from tomorrow. I better get my rear packing!!!

When they do an upgrade, it will still say the same category number. Don't worry about it...it is definitely a verandah room, albeit one with a solid metal verandah. Deck 5 aft is awesome! You'll get some vibration when the ship docks, but believe me, the verandah will be well worth it.

Same thing happened with our reservation. Even after I got my confirmation letter from DCL, it still had the old category type, not the upgraded category. Enjoy!

Congratulations on your upgrade . I stayed in room 5148 on the Magic in Jan 2006. I was upgraded from a cat 8 to a cat 6. It is a great room, it is on the same deck as the kids club and the Buena Vista theatre but is very quiet as it is near the end of the corridor. I hope you all have a wonderful time and that the upgrade will add a little extra magic for you . I hope your daughter keeps well and has a fantastic holiday.

We got upgraded to that room from an Cat. 11 in Sept. 2005. It is a great room! We loved it and it was very quiet. They never changed the catagory online just gave us the room number. So be excited you have been UPGRADED!!

Thank you for your replies! I am excited beyond words. I looked on the deck plans and it looks like we are in a terrific location in regards to the restaurants and etc. I had back surgery 3 months ago so this is going to be so awesome. I laid in bed last night just soaking it all in. Now I can take a book and actually read it when my daughter goes to sleep at night. My biggest regret is this is only a 4 day cruise. Maybe DCL looked and noticed we are booked for the west coast cruise next summer and want me to change from my cat. 11!!

Ok, I am a sap. I am sitting here in tears. It is finally hitting me. The year of hospital and doctor visits for my daughter and then my surgery... we have almost made it. I am still in shock I got the verandah. I never have any luck of getting anything.

Thank you for your well wishes. This board has been my inspiration the last 5 months. I have lived through everyone else's trips. It is almost my turn.

second...glad that all the "medical things" are almost over with. there is nothing more "draining" than seeing your loved ones go thru "medical things". i know! sounds like everything is going uphill from here now...

We also were upgraded to that room in 2005. It is a great room, enjoyed the verandah. We were having too much fun to notice any noise(there wasn't any!). I hope you enjoy a wonderful cruise. Nice upgrade!
