Did I do okay with saving on my new refrigerator?

I wanted to purchase a new refrigerator. Holy smokes, they are expensive.

I went to several stores looking at items and settled on a Maytag at Lowes.

I waited until this weekend to purchase because it was on sale.

Then I remember reading here many times about buying gift cards to pay for items.

I went to the grocery store and purchased $1200 in gift cards and got a lot of gas points. I was surprised that I could purchase that much in one transaction, but it worked.

I came home and went through my rewards site to get a % back for buying the fridge online.

So, I saved 10% on the refrigerator, got free delivery, a lot of gas rewards, and a % back from my rewards site (I hope). I didn't think I did too bad.
I'm not sure if I will get rewards for purchasing the gift cards with my credit card. I checked for a while to see if I could get any other discounts, but that's the best I could do.

The only other time I spent so much on gift cards was Disney gift cards, but I didn't purchase that much all at once.

I know it seem like no big deal, but I was pretty happy to save what I did. My reward site cash back will go towards our 2014 trip. :)

My new refrigerator will be here in 2 weeks since it's not in stock locally.

I hate spending money, but I like saving money on items I need.

Thanks for reading. :hippie:

Could you share how much the fridge was listed and then what you paid for it was? It will be easier to figure out. Plus, Im actually planning on buying a fridge in the next few days so would like to know if this is a good deal.

Good for you op.

I am shopping myself. Any time I shop for anything, I generally nextag it to see who offers it and at what price (a comparison site if youve never used it
With the holiday week, lots of appliance sales on now!

For those looking check out best buy . I know strange place for fridges but they have some good sales, and ding & dent models. The one we got a year ago was listed at $2700 EVERYWHERE , best buy had one that was a dinged model, seriously one tiny ding smaller than a dime on the back corner, we got it for $1400 after taxes and with free shipping, made me over the moon happy.

Home depot will match any ad on appliances and then beat the price by 10%. Lowes had a $1200 Whirlpool 25.3 cu ft stainless side by side with water and ice dispenser on sale for $699 Black Friday weekend. I took the ad to Home Depot that weekend but they were out of stock on the Whirlpool so they matched it with the same model by Maytag. The price was $629.10 pre tax with free delivery and haul away. I was able to put it on my Home Depot CC so I have a full year to pay it off with no interest charged. I consider a 48% discount on a major appliance a pretty good deal!
