We are about to leave for the airport and with a long day traveling I wanted to buy genie+ so I could easily make selections during my layover later prior to getting to park but it says genie+ is no longer available for your day?! Does that mean it sold out?! It’s after midnight???

I noticed that things in the app would sometimes lag behind a few minutes: for example, not allowing us to book a LL right at the time we were eligible. For example, at 1:05 pm, it might still say you will be eligible at 1:00. But yelling at it a little bit always seemed to make it shape up.

I wish it would sell out. For parks like DHS where there aren't enough rides to eat crowds, they are absolutely selling too many of them. The wait for Toy Story Midway Mania shouldn't be 75 minutes at 11am at the end of August because the Lighting Lane is flooded with riders and they are taking about 200 LL riders per every single group in standby.

The whole parks experience last year was SO MUCH BETTER with no fastpass/lighting lane mechanism in place at all.

I disagree, my park experience last year was miserable. Everything was a +30 min wait everywhere and we basically rode nothing. I'm in for any type of skip the line feature whether it's in Disney or any other theme park which at this point is pretty much every theme park.

I do find that overall time waiting in line was less without any FP or LL or $LL last year than it is this year when you add it all up.
The few rides where you can use one of the above are great but the ones where you can't are longer and honestly, I agree, not sure they are worth the trade off.
A more even system was very nice.
That said, that was all with fewer people in the parks too.
I'm not sure it would be the same with the numbers in the parks this year.

I wonder if it's due to a time lag on your phone/cell provider? Is there sometimes a bit of a drop in how often it refreshes with a new time on some towers? Honestly no idea
I know we have a problem near our house where we can grab a cell tower that's in a different time zone. All of the sudden our phones will switch from Eastern to Central time. And they'll just as suddenly, swap back again. I have no idea how often phones search for and refresh their cell tower access. I never seem to be looking at my phone to catch it update, just happen to notice the time change. Anyway, that is what made me wonder if that was somehow related to the lag in app time too

Its much like FP and FP+. It makes the experience better for those that use it, and worse for those who don't. And when I say use it, I mean learn the ins and outs so you can make the best use of it. Otherwise, you will get very little benefit even if you try to use it.

Overall though I agree with you, the experience would be better in general without G+. The standby lines would be shorter (and move faster) and you would not need to be on your phone so much trying to snag LL's.
