Did Double Dipping FP Just End?

I don't get it... if they were happy with the experiance during testing why would they not be happy after they have worked out all the bugs. :confused3

Because it won't be the same system when all is said and done. One of the many differences will be the fact that you'll get 3 FP...period...all day....no repeat rides on headliners, no double dipping (which this thread is about somewhat). Another would be the fact that the legacy FP system will be removed.

Oh, and there's the fact that the number of testers has been a small percentage of people compared to the actual numbers of users once this actually goes live. They can move their coveted TSM FP+ around right now. As soon as 75,000 people are using this that will be impossible to do.

There are many more reasons the attitudes will change. It's going to be fun to watch from the outside. :yay:

Because, for starters, of the very point of this thread? During the vast majority of testing you could still pull paper FP?

We tested FP+ last May and we loved it. But we loved it as an addition to the FP system, not as a replacement. Had we not been able to pull paper FP along with it, then I'd not have appreciated it nearly as much.

I have FP+ schedule for my family and my parents first week of December. Depending on how FP availability plays out over the next 4 weeks or so, I'm strongly considering dropping those reservations and going with paper FP.

Thank you for this... I don't think alot of people realize that the number of people on this board is not even close to the number of people that go to Disney. And like you said people are ALWAYS lounder when they complain. It seems like alot of the people that are complaining here, have not even used the MB or FP+ they are complaining about the thought of using it which means that they will never give it a fair chance becuase they already hate it before they go.

Yes!!! I tried to say something similar to this a few days ago, but it came out all wrong and people got all pissed off at me. LOL But yes this exactly.

::yes::

I'm quite happy this is the year we decided to head west for our annual dose of Disney!

Sorry for the repeated posts but I wanted to add this...

When I read this, and I agree that this is where Disney is headed (with possibly adding a 4th FP into the mix), it seems clear to me who Disney is catering this to.

Disney is catering to those once a lifetime visitors, that spend thousands of dollars on a 2 week trip, that may never get to come back. And also to the repeat visitors that might pull a FP here and there, but don't rely on them. At least to me that's how it seems.

If you never have been to Disney before and you didn't know that you had to be at RP, run to TSM, run here or there, be here at a certain time to get this FP, go there to get that one, do this do that... It makes my head spin and I go 3 times a year!!!

Anyway, if you didn't know about all of this, you may never get to ride those rides. It seems to me, Disney is trying to even the playing field and allowing those once in a lifetime visitors a chance to ride the headliner rides without having to go through all of that in order to do it.

LOL Taking it from the "wealthy" (the people with all the FPs) and spreading it out to everyone.

Now, obviously this puts the people who have mastered the FP system at somewhat of a disadvantage. It is going to have an impact on the way you tour through Disney.

But overall, Disney has to keep the "masses" happy. And I think this system will eventually do that. Yes, there will be plenty of upset people. You can't make everybody happy. But I do think, overall, that the majority of people will be happy with the system once it's fully implemented.

Again... this is all JMO. And we all know how that goes. ;)

After further reading - from the sound of it paper Fastpass isn't going to be an option by the time we go anyway, as my parents will likely only be given Magic Bands. Not sure how it will play out for us since we are AP holders. Gonna feel really bad having talked my parents into going on this trip with us if they only get MBs and the system is still super buggy.

Personally, I think this is going to make Universal the happiest. ;)

And you might be right! I'm sure there are people that get so upset, they will vow never to go to Disney. For at least 5 years ;)

I know I won't be one of them.

I could see it happen, an I experienced something similar back in college. The college was beta testing their new phone registration system (yes this predates the internet explosion). They picked the 2 biggest colleges in the university, business and education, for the test. As someone taking advantage of the new system, registration was a breeze. It was the greatest thing. No need to get to campus early to turn in registration forms to make sure you got your classes.

The next quarter they opened it up to the entire university. It was a mess. Hours of busy signals waiting to get into the system. The university hadn't calculated the scaling of the system properly to handle the first day of registration rush.

It appears from the reports here, Disney may be having some scaling problems with FP+ Stuff that worked with one or 2 resorts in the system are showing strain with all the resorts in the system. The big test is still to some though. Adding in people without reservations.

You have no idea if this is true or not. FP+ is still in testing, they could decide to change the FP+ allotment next week when they move to the next phase of testing (not giving out KTTW cards to all guests). Disney is not trying to ruin anyone's vacation. We have our vacation planned for April and I am keeping an open mind about MB's and FP+. I just want to enjoy the time with my family with or with MB's won't make a difference.

I just scanned all the pages and didn't read it all, so I may have missed this.

Disney's new guidebook for guests with disabilities encourages them to take advantage of both FP- and FP+. Will these guests be given KTTW that still work with FP-?

And MAYBE....just MAYBE the new Luminescent Land That Steals From the Pocahontas Story will be completed by then. :thumbsup2
