Did Double Dipping FP Just End?

Frankly my dears...it had to end sometime. Hopefully this brings us closer to a freakin' end product. I'd just like to know what I will be dealing with when I go next year. ROLL IT THE HECK OUT IN FULL ALREADY. Tear off the band aid.

IMHO this isn't the end of testing... No official end date or rules have been announced..

I don't know if this is helpful, but we checked in Saturday and were able to use our KTTW cards from this trip to pull paper FPs at the MK on Sunday. We were also able to use KTTW cards from 2011 to do the same. But before anyone gets your panties in a bunch, we actually didn't use any of our FP+s...we kept missing the windows and weren't able to change them "on the fly" as easy as has been reported here, so we just decided to use the system that we know and that works--paper FP--instead.

We weren't able to see if the KTTW cards worked to pull paper FPs at Epcot today because by the time we got there (11:00, after sleeping in after MNSSHP on Sunday night) all the paper FPs were gone for the only thing we used have used a paper FP+ for (Soarin').

As someone who just spent a lot of our vacation with Guest Services or at one of the MB stations just three days ago I'm pretty shocked they've removed FP- for the testers.

I was the only one in our party who's MB and FP+ kept "crashing" (their words not mine). I had three MBs on a seven day trip. We'd get it set up and it would look good to go and by the time my next FP+ rolled around or I would go to room-charge something it would crash again.

The CMs at the FP return treated me like criminal like I was trying to rob others. As if I would schedule my entire family and not myself? Not sure how that would get me ahead, but whatever. It was pretty horrible. Every time my band wouldn't go green it was like I had flipped them the bird or peed in their Cheerios. Finally the second to last day my entire family was given a courtesy FP good to use all day for whatever rides we wanted as many times as we'd like, so that was pretty fantastic, but the five days before, playing MB-roulette sucked.

If the rest of my family couldn't pull FP- the first 5 days of our vacation we wouldn't have experienced attractions together as I was often told I had to go to stand-by or to guest relations even with my plea and repeating my story. It was very "no excuses, no mercy..." Not very Disney from what I've experienced in the past. We had banked on our three FP+ attractions with the intention to only pull a FP- in circumstances out of control. If I spent an hour+ at Guest Services for the first 5 days every time it crashed you'd be looking at 20+ hours away from my family or with them waiting.

Some members of my extended family who didn't have FP+ experienced FP- running out at TSM last Wednesday not even 10 minutes after the park opened. They were really disappointed as they ran to the attraction to only be let down to a huge line and then CM's walking through the line announcing the passes were gone. That's poor planning on Disney's part. I'm really surprised how popular TSM is in WDW. At DLR it's popular, but we saw 2.5 hour wait time last Sunday. It's a great ride, but that's just nutty.

Still haven't heard anyone actually report that they're KTTW card didn't work in the FP machine. If this happens to us, I plan to have them replaced at guest services with cards that work.

WE used our room cards to double dip on this past Saturday.

Seems so far one persons KTTW card not working so who knows... I be there in 3 days so see for myself..

I can confirm that I was at a Hilton in Chicago yesterday and the room key card that my wife received did not work to open the room door.

I wish Hilton wouldn't put the magnetic card reader system into effect until they got all of the glitches worked out.

I blame the whole episode on FP+ implementation.

did you try your MB?

And those are the ones that would have a right to be a bit upset about the double dipping. How many of those in front of them pulling paper FPs already had a FP+ for that ride plus 2 others headliners. The ones that didn't have FP+ that day in HS was very lucky to get 1 FP for a headliner. Now I'm not saying I don't agree with your reasons for wanting to double dip and our family might would do the same in that position but I do see the other side. In fact my DB's family was there last week and wasn't able to get a FP for Soarin' on their Epcot day. By the time they were able to pull another FP after their TT FP, they were all gone. They were not able to use FP+s. How many of those paper FP went to the ones already with Soarin' FP+?

Subbing in. I'm one of those who expressed reticence at trying the FP+ system to a CM on the phone and was expressly told I could use both so I should have no worries. That's the only reason I signed up to do it; I wasn't going to be restricted to 3 FP a day - especially when I park hop at least two parks a day.

If I get to WDW and am told that this is now forbidden, I'll go to GR and have them take off the FP+ - unless reports continue that there are no FP for anything past 10 a.m., then what would it matter? Might as well keep them at that point!

Seems like poor timing - I'm sure at Thanksgiving/Christmas/NYE there are tens of thousands of people staying offsite who can't get MB and can't get FP+. It would be a complete disaster for their trips; I am already envisioning 4 hour long lines at the teacups . I remember the June crowds in the 1980s when we would wait for 3 hours for SM (and I had to be taken out of line multiple times to use the bathroom); this holiday season would be a repeat of those times of yore. :crazy2:

Today at Epcot, we used FP+ for TT, Soarin' and I don't remember the other. On the 3rd one it was a 10 min wait or we could use our FP+ so we just used our FP+ b/c every time I try to change in MDE it only shows as one person changing and it takes me forever to get it fixed. Blah, blah, blah...

Anyway, DH wanted to do Mission:Space (we didn't) so he got one regular FP. No issues on that but we hadn't been on that ride either. (Meaning getting FP for Soarin' AND using FP+ for Soarin')

We checked in last Wednesday so I can't speak to those checking in from yesterday/today on. Will report back if I hear anything! We had no issues with our MBs...just problems with MDE.

None, likely. The glitch last Wednesday was ugly. All FPs in 2 parks were mistakenly out within 15 mins. Even though the originally return times were normal (9:30am, etc). You couldn't even book a FP+. But the FP lines did not hold up to what happened and at least at TT they were handing out FPs to anyone who wanted them at noon and had a very large stack that I saw. So obviously EP figured out a solution while HS did not.

This was probably just another glitch. Those certainly aren't in short supply but you'd have to assume that they'd switch completely at some point. If only Disney would hint at when...

At least at Epcot, yes-the headliners are gone within 30-60 min of park opening I have observed. We didn't do DHS so I can't speak to that.

Good luck and have a great trip.

Here on property now and at Animal Kingdom, bands would not work at entrance, was in guest services for almost an hour, we were given 2 "extra" paper fast pass tickets hand written from like a receipt pad. Was told use these for the time we lost AND use our 3 FP+ also.

Switched resorts and had more issues, were given 3 hard tickets for our days at the park, plus new KTTW cards, AND had the bands. Technically, we could have used all the band FP+s AND pulled doubles for the same time frames with the KTTW cards and the hard park tickets.....we didn't do that but we did pull an extra FP to one attraction with the KTTW cards just to see if it worked, it was for Living With The Land which I thought was a good test as it really is never busy and I didn't want to pull an extra pass and take it away from someone who was only able to use regular FP........that was today so we will see what tomorrow brings.

We have MNSSHP tomorrow night and were able to get FP+ with those. However they issued us NEW MNSSHP tickets because of the computer issues, I prob can get FP + with those too. We won't but I see some of the possible issues being that CM's are a little overwhelmed with this new stuff and since it is not working perfectly are very quick to please the guest. We knew going in that it was a test and problems would arise and never expected the extras we are getting BUT, others I have seen and heard yelling at CM's so I think extra passes are being handed out like mad.

Bahahaha!
Try your MB. :-)

I wish that I'd read somewhere that you could gather up old KTTW cards and use them for fastpasses! Dang. We were able to get FP for one thing only today, TT. We're staying offsite, no FP+ for us.
I will say that we've been using rider swap basically the same way as fastpasses. It almost makes me want to bring a baby along on every trip. Almost.

I was referring to the end of double dipping not the end of testing.
