Did Disney fire all it's bathroom attendants?

Maybe the slow times aren't as slow as they thought, so they didn't staff properly. Plus, with school going, they have a smaller pool of potential employees.

When we were there late July, I didn't notice much dirtiness at all.

I don't know if the toilets "spray" the seats when they flush, but every seat I went to use, I had to wipe it down with toilet paper first, then I wouldn't sit on it without one of the paper protectors.

Rule One in the SOP...

Wish I had taken disinfecting wipes with me.
If you use them on the seat, either wipe dry with TP or finish your clean up with moistened paper towel or baby wipes. Fresh chlorine will do a number on sensitive skin...

Like someone above mentioned, I will say, the bathrooms at Uni with Moaning Myrtle are hysterical. :rotfl2:

Everyone laughed, and laughed hard.

We had a similar experience the same day as the OP - I told DH I'd seen cleaner bathrooms in gas stations.

Like a PP, I also sent an email to wdw.guest.communications@disneyworld.com and also just got a call from them. She said she would definitely pass along the comments. I mentioned to her that this was a topic of discussion on a board and it was up to 163 comments and over 10,000 views. She sounded pretty shocked.

As for guests being a lot of the problem, I don't think people are necessarily messier than they used to be - I think DH had a good observation: If something is clean to begin with, people are going to be less likely to add to the mess. That could be why we see more guest mess than we used to.

Just got back last night. I think PP comment on timing is everything. I saw lots of attendants in the restrooms when I was there and they were working at keeping the stalls etc clean. I don't recall going into a restroom that wasn't acceptable. Our heaviest restroom use was earlier in the day before the park was crowded so that may have made a difference.

I have to agree with the PP about the refreshement port restroom in Epcot. I walked in and the line was to the door. I walked across to the other side of future world next to Mexico (lots of space over there)

Returned from a trip in November. Ladies Rooms were as clean as they could be with constant use. Attendants were in and out of stalls constantly.

Morocco tonight--attendant in the bathroom emptying trash. She was doing the bins in the stalls. She had obviously already done the main trash cans by the sinks. No line of guests but steady amount coming in and out of the bathroom. So the bins were acquiring trash as she was cleaning them. World showcase was heavily populated tonight. (Whoopi Goldberg for CP in case anyone was interested.)

During my trip in November I was happily surprised to see a bathroom attendant cleaning in every bathroom I went in in the park (and in most hotel bathrooms). When they were done with the farthest stall they would go back to the beginning and start again, they weren't just picking things up, but also spraying things down to clean. I ran into some of the same ones the whole time we were there, and often saw the same cast member the same day in the same bathroom.

People do need to police their own trash in their own area, if everyone did just that, it would be radically different.

I was also there is November and one of the things that stuck out to me was how well the bathrooms were being maintained (even when very busy). My young daunter kept remarking how a good of job the nice ladies were doing keeping the bathrooms clean for us.

I have the utmost respect for those women and men at Disney who are cleaning those bathrooms. When I see the turn over and how they are going non-stop. I think it is really Disney's job to hire more attendants if the bathroom attendants were not able to get the job done.

Every time I go in the bathroom I just see a really hard working woman doing her best. I think I only went in one bathroom that was not as clean as it could be, and it was the one next to the Tower of Terror and it was right after Fantasmic let out and it was a mad house.

I am really surprised because those bathrooms I have always found to be so clean and far beyond what you tend to find at other public bathrooms. The smaller bathrooms in restaurants I have found often are lacking because there does not seem to be a staff member on hand (Liberty tree, CRT). Those can tend to get dirty.

I wonder what was going on for there to be such a big change from one month to the next?

Glad to see Disney is starting to keep their bathrooms clean. They've been pretty bad on our last several trips, including feces smeared on walls, toilet seats, and toilet paper holders. These were found in different bathrooms throughout the parks.

We have been at WDW since Nov 30th and I would give the majority of the bathrooms that I have visited a "10". There have been a couple of exceptions but I put that down to timing. It is one of the things that I really appreciate about Disney.

Walt did a great job with the trash cans yet people still through trash on the ground for some reason.I hate it!The bathrooms could use some attention too.I walked into one in Epcot and turned right around and found another one.It was alot better. What i really dont like is when someone leaves tbeir trash and mess on a table at a counter service.Come on man, stop bing so nasty.Wonder what their home looks like

I was a bit peeved about the bathrooms on Wednesday. We were at Sci Fi and every single paper towel dispenser in the ladies room was empty! I had to use TP to dry my hands.
But the next day, we were at MVMCP and a toilet had overflowed. It was an "all hands on deck" situation and the CMs did a great job cleaning it up and quickly.
So I'd give them 5/10. Room for improvement and inconsistent.

My experience as well. Lots of hard working attendants. We also used the child care centers a lot which were super clean and not crowded. Of course, we did have a little one with us. The one complaint I can come up with has to do with design rather than cleanliness. They could definitely use more baby changing stations. We were pleasantly surprised by the restroom we used at AK because it actually had 2 changing stations! Really needed at MK.

We noticed the bathroom grossness this past trip as well. I remember when they were spotless all the time. This time they were gross for the most part

We just got back and yes there were some stalls that needed to be reflushed or swept up, but for the most part I don't understand the complaint? :confused3 I didn't notice any difference except that during busier hours it was jammed with people (no shock there). I can understand it might be tougher to tidy with people constantly going in and out of the stalls to use them, but I saw a bunch of attendants! What's scary is the bathrooms we saw on the drive back home to Texas :crazy2:

Twelve pages and no one has blamed Free Dining for the bathroom problem yet?

I blame it on the free dining! They have had to drop the quality of the food and the lower quality food is causing the guests to make more frequent trips to the rest room...

Cool, there you go all caught up. ;)

As we all know Disney is extremely cheap...i mean frugal... They probably rotate staff and for a while those who should be cleaning the public restrooms where elsewhere. Now they have been rotated back. Not uncommon of a practice. In reality clean rest rooms are not only a image issue but also a health issue. With so many guests from around the world they should be bleaching all of the rest rooms daily...
