Did Disney fire all it's bathroom attendants?

I understand that people will give us reasons till the cows come home why Disney is not responsible for filthy bathrooms......parks more busy, cultural reasons, people prefer to poop on the floor. (Say what?)

The bottom line..... The bathrooms are not clean. Current staff cannot keep up with it?

Look Disney, this us not rocket science. SCHEDULE MORE BATHROOM CLEANERS.

I am available to consult on any other Management decisions, Disney. Just text me.

It is more precise to say the bathrooms are not always clean. There are plenty of posters who have been on trips and not seen messy bathrooms. Maybe we have 2 different sets of guests--those who happen into the restroom right after it has been cleaned, and those who have gone into them right after someone has messed the up.

Maybe Disney should hire more bathroom attendants and raise ticket prices by a dollar or two to cover it. But I can't help but wish that people would just be more respectful of their surroundings and of the other guests, and not make the messes to begin with. People being messy don't get a pass in my book just because they are at WDW.

WDW is WAY understaffed, all across the board.

The first place big companies look to cut costs is by cutting staffing levels. Disney is no different. Sad, but true.

Beginning if the recession Disney slashed staff in all Divisions....often beyond where they should have. They have chosen not to increase staff when times improved. Do you realize one of Hubsters Disney retirement plans is 64% funded? (Luckily not his primary retirement plan--union controlled and funded at 124%).

They are burning out staff hoping the seniors leave so they don't have to buy them out....replacing with 20 something's at a fraction of the cost.

Payroll-the largest controllable expense.

These record breaking years for Disney are in the backs of over worked/burned out staff.

And we wonder why cast members don't smile as much as before.

The view from inside has become very frustrating.

You are wishing people were more respectful of the bathroom facilities? That would be nice. Wishing it will happen? I'm going to quote Mammy from Gone With The Wind...(was just on TV)...

Wishin ain't gettin..

When I was at the Poly that is what I heard from staff across the board. I chatted them all up from groundskeepers to bellhops…

Disney is waiting to phase out the old timers and outsourcing their jobs to private companies…..just because they wear CM pin with their name on it doesn't mean they actually work for WDW anymore. Sad really. It started with valet parking CMs and is working its way throughout the staff resort wide.
Why pay people decent money with benefits and training when you can pay a CEO 1000 times that every year for cutting jobs.
Its the American Way. Or the corporate psychopaths way depending how you look at it.

I bet if Disney sold WDW to the Japanese, those rest rooms would be spotless!! :)

Ticket prices are already much higher than they should be with lots of huge ticket increases over the past 9 years. If they had kept with the $2 a year price increases we used to see (which were still outpacing inflation) the current ticket price for 1 day would be $74. There really is no excuse for understaffing, it's all extreme corporate greed. They will lose a lot of guests with their general corporate greed, especially with not paying enough attention to the essentials

Rumor has it the reason the toilet paper dispensers are empty is because of a resort-wide shortage.

Apparently all current inventory has been set aside for the Disney Research Team as they try to determine how to persuade guests to use both sides.

Maybe they are going to try for the sea shells, a la Demolition Man.

We could all agree that a pay cut for the higher ups will cover it. But let's be real here. Who thinks that is actually going to happen? Who is willing to pay more, or to handle things they way they are, because those are the choices we have. Complain if you want, but be realistic too.

Though I think if you do have a problem with the conditions of the rest rooms as a whole e-mailing is the way to go. I know that is how I have gotten some issues solved in the past. Nothing on a global scale park wise, but Disney does seem to pay attention to e-mails.

I did get an email off to them this morning about this, with a couple of selected pictures attached. We'll see what happens.

Hope you get a better response than I did. The person who called me could not get off the phone quick enough and basically just gave me the "Disney does not tolerate dirty restrooms so we will be looking into it" line. I tried to talk to her more about it but she wanted off the phone, and bad.

many folks just pee in the bushes now.

I actually think this might be true. Last week in all the parks I could smell urine at various outdoor locations (not bathrooms). It was disgusting. I've never in any trips come across restrooms that don't need attention so I would say it's 50/50 on whether the restroom you use at any given time is clean or not. Considering this past week I saw on 2 separate occasions women vomiting into restroom sinks, the guests are obviously just as disgusting as the lack of restroom attendants.

Disney needs to do something. Whether it's raise their prices an astronomical amount or hire many more employees for cleaning and crowd control. But there is literally NO crowd control at WDW. It is no longer the pleasant experience to visit as it once was. And this decline is happening fast, like within the last 2 years.

We drove out of WDW early yesterday afternoon and on our first rest area stop I had a rude awakening. As I walked into the bathroom the thought went through my head that I was not in Disney anymore.
Now some of the bathrooms in Walt Disney World were not "eat off the floor" clean but ALL of the ones I entered were far above most of the public restrooms.

I agree with you 100%. I was really (and still am) sad to know that the WDW that I once knew is now a thing of the past. And as much as I try to pretend that it is the same and keep going back because "maybe I just caught a bad trip and next time will be much better", the fact is that it really is no longer pleasant. And it has happened over the last couple of years, like you said.

I too saw a couple pull their kids pants down and have him pee on a wall over by the magic carpets. It was dark and I was trying to pretend that I was not seeing it, but I was.

I know it's true - we saw a kid doing just that in Epcot, and his parents were obviously advocating it.

Disney needs to do something. Whether it's raise their prices an astronomical amount.....

Be careful. I suggested that very same thing in another thread and people got bent out of shape because they interpreted it to mean that only rich people wouldn't pee in the bushes or cut in line or be rude to other guests.

Obviously, what it means is that the more it costs the lower the demand will be and the parks wouldn't be as congested.

Maybe WDW needs to look at the Discovery Cove model - charge an even higher price but only allow X number of guests in each day, the number of which determined by how many they can properly serve. Seems to work very well for them, I've read nothing but glowing reviews about the place due in large part because it's never crowded.

Augh. I did too during my November trip. I was shocked to say the least. Not to mention of of the ghastly smells I experienced in Epcot. (Nothing to do with the bathrooms but my friend kept complaining that it smelt of sulfur and it made her sick. It made me feel a little gross too).

But the bathrooms. Thankfully I had to use them once in the parks. It was decent. And there was actually an CM there who was helping a woman with a sick child. But the bathrooms at DTD??? NO. NEVER AGAIN.

Not only was the line long (kind of expected that) but the bathroom was very nasty and dirty. And no toilet paper! I will go into an eatery or just suffer the next time! :guilty:

I've read on here before (not sure if it is true or not) that some of the not so great smells are some of the plants they use in the parks. Not sure why they would choose to use nasty smelling plants to green up the parks, but I guess it is possible.

The bathrooms at DTD can be a bit icky. Though I was pleasantly surprised in October that the one I used wasn't. It was late on a Friday night too! I think there just aren't enough of them at DTD to begin with, so the few they have are used and abused.

Yeah, those smells in Epcot didn't smell like sulfur to me. But that's just me. I'm not sure how to describe the smell either. It was a nasty/gross smell.

I also think that the construction in DTD doesn't help either. It was rather confusing. It was like Alice stepping into Wonderland. And I don't mean in the fun-let's-go-on-an-adventure kinda way.
