I have heard from reliable sources around Broken Bow, OK that disney bought land in the area (about 3,000 acres). But i cant find it anywhere on internet or news sources. We heard from one gentleman who has worked in the campgrounds for many yrs that this had happened. So then i asked an employee in town and she said she had heard it also. I asked who she had heard this from and she said someone who is helping to clear the land. Is this true? Anyone else heard this?

I've been hearing this same rumor for nearly 20 years in Oklahoma. At one point it was Stroud, another time it was East Broken Arrow. There was actually some evidence of it in Broken Arrow.

I've always been in the "I'll believe it when I see it camp.

I really don't see any shot of Broken Bow because there just isn't any infrastructure down there to handle those sort of crowds and it's 2-3 hours from the nearest airports.

Probably a flare up of a big rumor printed by numerous "media" in 2007 that Disney was working with the Governor Brad Henry to bring a park, They said there would be a huge announcement with them both along with other named OK officials. It never happened. It was also the same year that Oklahoma would have a special exhibit in the fall at Epcot, so possibly there was a misinterpretation of what was being developed.

But hey, there is a town called Disney, Oklahoma.

It's real, google image it ... lots of these pictures ... they have plenty of fun.

I feel like this rumor happens every few years in different parts of the country. I've heard it 5 or 6 times about Disney buying massive amounts of land in East Tennessee. I'm convinced that these rumors have been created by real estate agents trying to sale homes for a premium... Now excuse me while I go polish my tinfoil hat. :earboy2:

May have a winner!! :thumbsup2

Texas was one too, it got out of control, folks were buying up overpriced land in anticipation ... there were lawsuits and court cases. And each time it seems Disney says NO they are not building anything but folks still keep at it and make bad investments.

Oklahoma:sad2: I can say that, because I am from there. Broken Arrow no less too:(

That was primarily one guy in the Dallas area that somehow convinced a lot of gullible people that Disney was coming. Luckily he was caught fairly quickly.

Of course the rumors of Disney buying land hear Houston are true. Those are only decades old but we all know how slow Disney is. ;)

Maybe they are finally dusting off the plans for Disney's America. That was going to be a 3000 acre development, so it sounds like a perfect fit.

I hear rumors like this all the time about Oklahoma and parts of Texas. Don't think that there's any truth to them. However, I do think it might be cool for Disney to open up a ranch as a DVC property. Similar to Aulani but with a western theme, it could have cabins, horseback riding, wagon rides, campfires, and maybe some rodeo exhibits. Not that I think they will do this. Much more likely to build a new park in South America.

Agree with the PP's that this is most likely another pump and dump kind of story seeded by some developer.

I suppose Disney could buy land almost anywhere as an investment opportunity. A land parcel doesn't have to be a theme park.

If it is west of the MS and south of the High Plains, there have been rumors. Especially since the Marvel purchase. It's all ridiculous. If they were going to do it, TX would be the only option. Best climate, the state basically pays companies to come there, and decent infrastructure with large cities. That being said, probability Disney builds an entirely new resort and park complex? Pretty much 0. Virginia showed them the difficulty of doing it, AK and DHS have portrayed quite well how big a park and expensive a park you need to build these days to make it a standalone, with cheap airfare across the U.S. it's not like you need to cater to a geography, and there is still plenty of land in Orlando.

People are gullible however.

No offense to anyone from Oklahoma.

But I hope they didn't, that's one of the last states I'd want them to bring a park. I don't want tractor pull rides and pig judging contests. Tow Mater would fit right in in Oklahoma though.

I'd rather them put one in Brazil. This way they can keep their tour groups.

I'm FROM Oklahoma for a reason. I don't think it's any offense to people from or in Oklahoma. Most of them don't want to vacation in Oklahoma either.

The thing that Orlando doesn't have that is more cheap labor. Houston might.

You don't build a several billion dollar theme park somewhere just because you can find marginally cheaper labor than in an area where you have already invested 10s of billions of dollars.
