Did Christina Aguilara Just "scream" the Star Spangled Banner?

She was bad. She was trying to hard and messing up the lyrics is not a good thing in my book. My Aunt and I were cringing when she did that.

Yes, I agree she botched the anthem however I'm probably the only person who enjoyed the half time show. :)

It must have been all the stress of living in the same house as her husband AND new boyfriend!:rolleyes1

As the late Eric Morecambe would have said she was singing the right words and tune, but not necessarily in the right order.

I watched the video of that, and I think when all the kids go around saying "Epic Fail" about stuff...I now understand what they mean.

I still haven't figured out which was worse - her botched attempt at the national anthem, or or that "TRON: THE MUSICAL" thing at halftime.

The only good part of the half time show was Slash and he didn't sing a note.

Black Eye Peas even managed to screw with that. I kept hearing him say "yeah" into the mic while Slash was trying to play. Shut up, one of my generation's greatest guitarists is trying to play!

I turned the channel after she flubbed the words. I thought it was sounding bad, and I like Christina a lot. The messed up words made my choice easy...change the channel temporarily till it was over.

I didn't like the version of America The Beautiful either but her voice was good, it was just a not so good and over produced version.

I thought "America the Beautiful" was wonderful. And from what I understand (and I have gone back to listen several times) is that Lea Michelle sang live. If that is the case....AMAZING!

She fired to song as well as her hair. Give the bleach a break!!!!

Have you guys never heard that singing in a football stadium is the worst thing a singer can do? The acoustics are such that when the singer starts singing the second line, the FIRST line starts bouncing off the far wall of the stadium, a mile away and echos back at the singer.

Their impulse is to stop singing till the sound "catchs up" with them, but of course they can't do that because then there'd be dead silence. That's probably why Christina sang the same line twice. She got caught up with hearing herself. She was supposed to keep plowing through, and just keep singing.

Either no one told her what would happen, or she didn't bother to rehearse enough to know what to expect and sing through it all.

One of the few and best renditions of the national anthem was when Whitney Houston did it and did a fabulous job. Of course, then she got slammed, as she had pre-recorded herself to listen to while singing, put in an earphone in one ear to sing along to herself and put an ear plug in the other ear so she wouldn't hear the echoing.

People just can't win with the national anthem. It's all of ours, as everyone has an opinion about it. Some want to hear something other than the same old, same old. Others believe: don't screw with our national anthem.

I don't care. She's supposed to be a "professional". She knows what it's like to perform in stadiums (where many of her concerts are). She was even making the football players cringe.

No excuse for her flubbing the words and her embarrassing "version" of the song. I hope she slinks away and is never asked to perform that song again.

She was an epic FAIL. :sad2:

This is just my opinion, but when singing the National Anthem....the song should be the star, not the one who sings it.

She totally messed it up.....she sang the wrong words, the wrong tempo and added her our touch......

Our National Anthem should be sung the way it was written....with pride...if one can not do that, then don't!!!!!

She should have rehearsed more than. Professional singers sing in all kinds of venues, including football stadiums and do no mess the National Anthem up. Every Sunday someone is singing in a stadium somewhere and they managed just fine. Not what I would expect from a pro like she is suppose to be.

I didn't watch the Super Bowl, so I just went in search of a video of the national anthem. Wow. :sad2:

Of course, when people hit Twitter about the whole thing, Christina shot back to them (being as classy as ever): "Acapella, (LIVE) with no orchestra,..millions of people watching!! Like @nickiminaj said..."Haters you can kill yourself"! HA! #superbowl."

:scared1:

Really?!

I LOVED the halftime show!!!! Thought it was awesome! Had me dancing and singing all the way through it.

I was a bit shocked to say the least at Christina Aguleria singing the National Anthem. Correct me if I'm wrong but did she get a lyric wrong?

Correct, she missed a line; but the real question should be, what did she get right about the National Anthem? And the answer would be;

NOTHING

I thought I heard her mess up but then I was like maybe it was my drink affecting me lol. but I do distinctly remember thinking 2 things......

She looks like crap and Why is she screaming?

SMH and yes this was an EPIC FAIL:scared1:
