Did any one watch it last night? The name of the show in and of it has always offended me (sounds like some weird swinger thing), but I watched it for the very first time last night.

Wowzer!!! The swap was between and inter-racial conservative Republican Christian family from Tx and a lesbian couple from I'm not sure where.

The show is pretty sensational, but for my part the conservative family coincided perfectly with what I imagine to be the 'norm' for the segment of our country.

I'd be interested in other people's impressions.

Thanks,
Cathryn~

I went to watch this on my TiVo last night and discovered that my satelite receiver on that TV has been out for over a week! Ugh!

What happened?

Oh that was awful. I don't usually watch that show, but just happened to catch glimpses of it and couldn't turn it off. I couldn't believe how that self-proclaimed good christian woman treated the others. She was depraved.

Lora, this conservative christian woman (in a bi-racial marriage) who kept flaunting her wealth swapped with a lower-class lesbian couple. This woman said horrible things to the lesbians and really treated them awfully. All the while tauting what a good christian woman she was with good values. :sad2:

I did see this last night and I do agree that the conservative woman was rather harsh on the lesbian woman at the close of the show. While it was obvious that she did not agree with the lifestyle of the lesbians, if she felt wronged by having "swapped" with a gay couple then she should have taken it out on the producers of the show.

I felt like Christine (the lesbian woman) that swapped with her did a good job working with the new family. Maybe some things went on that they did not show, but I am sure the network would show anything more sensational so over all I think she did good. Now Chris, the conservative woman, really laid it on Nikki at the rules change!

That conservative "christian" women was a judgemental, horrible person. I couldn't believe the things she said, made me sick.

I think that hypocritical "christian" needs something "excellant" (her favorite word) shoved up a not so excellant place. :rolleyes1

I saw it. Is there nothing the networks won't do for ratings? It was awful. I saw about the last 20 minutes or so. How could she sit across the table from someone and be so mean? She wasn't acting very Christian.

I thought she was typical of today's christian ~ quick in her judgements of others without ever seeing how her own behavior is contradictory to the teachings of Jesus Christ.

That's what I was afraid of. This woman in no way represents the norm for Christians (or conservatives for that matter). She was about as un-Christian as a person can be.

I watched it. I have never sen someone so completely full of themselves in my whole life as that Christine woman. I was yelling at the TV so loud the dogs woke up and came into the living room all worried. I honestly wonder what the people in her circle truly think of her now. I know if I sort of casually knew her, I could never look at her the same way again.

The rest of her family I kind of liked-- UNTIL the husband didn't say ANYTHING while his wife was berating that poor woman. I mean, he seemed to really get along with her-- SAY SOMETHING!! I think he knew what would happen if he did.

It is kind of sad-- the amount of judgement that was thrown around there. Change that-- it's very sad. To have someone tear down this obviously committed, stable, loving couple was a travesty. Luckily, I think they came off very well in the end.

It's true that children learn how to hate-- and I hope that Christine's children are changed by the experience.

My take (armchair physiatrist that I am) is that the Christian woman (who also happened to b e black) was just oozing with self loathing!!!

I wasn't sure until she told the lesbian that "you could pretend to not be gay, but I can't pretend to not be black".

Wha-what-WHAT??? Why would she want to pretend to not be black? Although I might as she was doing a pretty good job of it….I come from a pretty WASP-y New England family and she was "whiter" than all of us!

And by the way did anyone notice how "common" she became when she began cussing the lesbian couple out…..straight back to her roots if you ask me.

On last thing, when she accused them of "shaking up". How I wish one of the other woman would have asked- are you implying that we ought to be able to marry?

I hate to do this but this really bothered me. :(

Typical of Todays Christian?

Im really sorry if that's what your opinion of Christians is and obviously thats been your experience. I dont pretend to speak for all Christians, but from me, I apologize. Apparently someone has given you a really misguided view of how Christianity is supposed to be. I TRULY hope I dont project that. I have my ideas and my values but I like to think overall that I'm accepting. I may not agree with something but MY relgion teaches to love the person anyway. I really hope thats how I come across.

I have to say that Im very bothered by that generalization. Thats not how the Christians *I* know act either.

Ditto for us here too Binny! She is NOT typical, she is way out there. That's why they picked her! Because she is ultraconservative, not typical of all Christians! They pick the outrageous ones to get the ratings!

I never said you, I do not know you. My opinion is based not just on the people I have met/spoken to, but those who appear in the public eye that represent your viewpoint.

I am not saying all christians are bad or that they should be perfect. I am not. But it is weird that as a non-christian I try to live by the "golden" rule, and that seems to be the rule that most christians tend to toss out the window first.

Very well said Binny! ITA.

To say that she was typical of today's Christian is quite judgmental. Why not say, this is so typical of Republicans? or black women? It's ludicrous!!

She was the exact opposite of what Christian's should be and are taught. I hope her pastor was watching and got an eye and an ear full since her hubby started the show saying, "Pastor wouldn't tolerate us treating anyone badly no matter their lifestyle."

Seems to me that Pastor has some tail kicking to do on Sunday with one woman! :teeth:

did anyone else notice at the very end when they were walking away, uber-christian lady smiled and extended her hand to the lesbians? WTH?!? I think they refused it too. I know the one who swapped definitely hesitated and they never showed them shaking hands. But, the other woman was standing in front and you couldn't actually see it. I thought that was really funny. I wouldn't have shook her hand either.

Thank You Binny and MB MinnieGirl,

I was so sad after watching this show. I am a Believer, and was mortified by how Chris presented herself, claiming to be a Christian. How many pre-Believers did she turn away from the church last night?? That is no way for a Christian to act!!!!! :sad2:

I cringed EVERY time she said how 'excellent' her life, her kids, her house, her jewelery and her God knows what else was.
