Wow! How have I been missing this thread?
I love this show along with Big Brother, my 2 guilty pleasures!
I have to go watch the end of last night's show before I post anymore.
I love that the DIS has so many TV fans!

I read that last week it posted its highest numbers ever, and was ranked 26th! Where did you read it was failing?

As for another season, I said at the very beginning this was a risky concept because it's not something you can just automatically do every year. After all, how many superstar bands need a new lead singer?

Honestly, I only heard about the disappointing ratings when it first started. I honestly haven't followed up on them in recent weeks. Good to see that it's higher than it was at the beginning. That being said, according to zap2it.com, it's still getting beat in its timeslot by Law and Order repeats

And, like you said about another season, there aren't bands that need new lead singers...however, I wouldn't be opposed to a simple "RockStar [without INXS] show" although I don't know how that would work out.

:rotfl: I'm laughing with you, not at you. I totally agree with what you said! I have never been a fan of bands that scream instead of sing.

Do you think INXS can really make a comeback with a completely new "modern" sound? Personally I think they'll need to keep something similar to their old sound if they want to attract all their old fans.

That being said, I do like Marty and he will probably have a great career, but he needs to get a new, younger band. :teeth:

I agree. I think Marty can do what he does well, but he definitely doesn't have a strong voice, which is what INXS songs need.

I was so happy for Suzie last night! I felt really bad on Sunday night when she was watching her performance trying to figure out what she did wrong. Although MiG is my top pick, Suzie is definitely right up there and I think she would do well with INXS. I am starting to like Ty, too. Even though he can be very dramatic, he's got a great voice.

I like Ty too but I agree that he is rather "dramatic". I always feel like I am watching a broadway musical when he is on. I do like him, but he's just not right for the band, INXS.

MiG absolutely has a shot, but I think he's overrated - his Baby I Love Your Way last week did nothing for me (maybe it's because I'm a guy and that song is just pure mush to me) and I thought he was highly overpraised for it. Additionally, I thought that his originial song was poor.

Oh, wow, I just couldn't disagree more here. Maybe because I am a girl, but "Baby I Love Your Way" did everything for me, if you get my drift. ;) I'm still getting goosebumps just thinking about it. Trust me, sing that song to a girl and she will be mush. :goodvibes

I also thought "Do or Die" was great. I'm still humming it--would love to see the lyrics printed somewhere.

OOO I am so happy I found this thread!! My husband and I watch this but I am the only one at work that does so I can't hear other people's opinions! (and I don't always listen to his opinion)

Did anyone notice what Dave said to JD last night??? I think the quote was along the lines of "you would be great if INXS was doing a back catalog." I think that is a great point. I think JD sounds too much like Michael Hutchence. Not that this is a bad thing but INXS needs to move forward.

OK, now i am partial to Marty and I find JD just plain annoying to watch singing. I really like Suzie too but as someone said earlier, I am not sure about a woman fronting INXS. Kind of contradicting myself, since I said that INXS needs to move forward and having a woman there would be a leap. I will be happy just to hear INXS making new music!!

Ok, can someone explain the term "our band, INXS." Are they afraid if they don't say the name, they will forget who they are auditioning for? :rotfl: I know I am not the only one that thinks this, as several of us have used that term!

No. I have 3 favorite INXS songs -- The One Thing, Shine Like It Does, and Need You Tonight -- and I have not heard anyone sing any of them.

:rotfl: I've said the same thing! Can't they just say "our band" or just "INXS"? But we all laughed when Jeff first said "The tribe has spoken" and when Donald Trump first said "You're Fired". Maybe someday "I'm sorry, you're just not right for our band, INXS" will turn into a catch phrase too. ;) :rotfl:

I laugh every time I hear him say that!! :rotfl: :teeth:

Do you think that before the show starts they tell each contestant which INXS song they will have to sing if they are in the bottom 3?? I've been wondering this from the start. Surely they can't expect the contestants to know every word to every one of their songs! Maybe Mig and JD have been assigned some of the hits that we haven't heard yet??

I've read somewhere that they tell the rockers the songs the day before and that all the rockers actually have a rehearsal for the elimination songs. They mentioned trying different keys to accomodate the different voices. So when the bottom three are called on stage, they know it will be one of three songs, they just don't know which one. I just reread that and I'm not sure I made sense. :confused3 I can't remember where I read that.

"I'm freefalling....freestylinnnnnnng" :cool1:

I'm still singing it too! I'd LOVE to find the words!

So what did everyone think of last night?

J.D. really screwed up with not knowing the song. I think he's in trouble this week. I hope Suzie can pull off Bohemian Rhapsody- it's one of my favorite songs but really hard to sing. She sounded great when she was in the studio with the INXS song, though.

Those who missed the show last night (Sunday) it is repeated tonight on VH1 I think at 8pm or 8:30 it's great watching JD mess up big time!

I also think JD messed up big time! I loved the interaction between the others and Dave Navarro when JD was in the booth making such a mess of the song. I think it was Suzie that said something about his not having practiced the song at all to Dave.

Why is the show giving so much more airtime to Suzie (in a positive light to boot)? It's driving me nuts!

Did anyone else notice that while they were showing them remembering Deanna, that JD was nowhere to be seen?

Here's a link to an article about the show: http://tv.zap2it.com/tveditorial/tve_main/1,1002,271|97258|1|,00.html

It talks about the show, its ratings, the hopes for a second season, plus it reveals what everyone will be singing this week (don't know if that was said on the VH1 show this week as I missed all but the last 10 minutes).

Spoilers for the songs are below:

Suzie - Bohemian Rhapsody - Queen
Jordis - Imagine - John Lennon
Marty - Wish You Were Here - Pink Floyd
Ty - You Can't Always Get What You Want - Rolling Stones
MiG - Live and Let Die - Paul McCartney
J.D. - Suspicious Minds - Elvis Presley

My Comment - All good songs. This should be a good one.

JD drives me nutso, he is such a pompus idiot. All the other people seem to have feelings and he is all wrapped up in himself.

Does it seem to anyone else that the band likes Marty a lot? They are always praising him. What do you think? I want to hear Mig perform some INXS songs. He is great. :goodvibes
