Did anyone regret MVMCP?

The MK holiday parade and snow do NOT HAPPEN during the day till after the last MVMCP of the year.So if you are going before Dec 19th and not going to MVMCP, you will NOT see Holiday wishes, the holiday parade or it snowing on Main st.However if you are exiting the park at 7pm on a party night, you will see snow coming down. You can also see it snow at DHS Osborne lights

I went back in 2007. We were at MK during the day and there was 4 times more people at the party than at the park during the day. We were trying to find a place for the parade and the crowd knocked down a lady in front of us and then my son who was 9 at the time. My husband grabbed him up and helped the lady but they both got scrapped up. So are night was ruined. We missed the parade, shows, rides, and picture. I grabbed some some cookies on the way out just so I could calm down my son. I told Disney what happened by email ect. and I never got even a apology.
If you will be able to go to the MK after the night of the last party they have the parade during the day and at night it snows on main street.
I hope that helps.

Thank you all so much! This was pretty much what i was thinking. Ive never been to MVMCP, so I really just had to hear it from people who have actually experienced it.
I know that there are a few nights with low attendance, which would probably be totally worth it, but as others have said, those nights are hard to come by. I would love to see all of the special/rare characters, but the lines and the crowds just wouldn't be worth it.

I have signed DS up for the pirate adventure at GF, so that will be a special experience, and I think he'll probably enjoy that more anyway.

Maybe next time we'll do MNSSHP, as many have said the crowds are much lower.

Thanks again for all of the great responses!

I just can't decide. I was planning tentatively to go Sun. 12/5, but I wish I knew what kind of attendance it would be. It seems hard to predict.

We were just there a week and a half ago. We did the party twice; once on the night we arrived (Friday), as the kids were anxious to ride Pirates, HM, etc. Then again 5 days later (Wednesday). We went last year as well, and to MNSSHP the year before. I noticed a HUGE difference in the crowd levels this year. It was thick! We didn't bother with the parades either night. Didn't want to waste half the time waiting on the sidewalks. It was 4 deep an hour and a half before it even started. The major appeal for us (kids are 3 & 5) is the no waiting for their favorite rides. This year we noticed that Peter Pan & Snow White had at least 30 minute waits as opposed to 10 last year.

If you use a good touring plan, you can ride with little to no wait on an average day, so that may not be a big appeal for you. The fireworks and parade are awesome if you've never seen them before, but I can't honestly say if the parade is worth the time invested to get a good spot. I think I won't do the Christmas party if we go back again at this time of year. I would do the Halloween party, mainly because my kids were really young when we last did it. Also, the number of counter services are limited, so we did have some lines to wait in the first night, but had no wait at Pecos Bills the second night.

When does it snow at Osborne lights, all night or just certain times? The two things I wanted to see at MVMCP was the parade and the snow on Main St. We're already planning a trip to DHS, so maybe I should just view the snow there instead. I guess I could watch the parade on TV. As soon as I decide not to go, it will be reported that 12/3 had the lowest crowds of the year!! ;)

As an alternative to the MVMCP parade, how is the Christmas parade at AK?

Hmmp these reviews are making me think either wise.

MNSSHP is an annual trip for my group and I. I wanted to give MVMCP a chance but with xmas being 3 WEEKS away * I know right its so close !*

Im starting to give it a second thought. The main reason for going is to get the full Disney During the Holidays feel. Grumpy Cm's and long Cookie lines aren't what I was hoping for.

No regrets here- we did it twice two weeks ago. We went once on the day of our arrival (DH, DS3, and me). DS fell asleep around 10- we didn't get to do too much that night other than lots of rides, meeting the 7 Dwarfs, and meeting Minnie and Mickey. We were exhausted and since we knew we were going a second time, we didn't push it.

The second night it was just me and DS (DH had to leave early on a business trip) and we did all the Christmas party stuff- parade, fireworks, all the special characters, the dance party, etc. We had an absolute blast!

So, once again, no regrets here. I would highly recommend it!

thanks for your post, we are going on our arrival day (we are arriving at 12 and hoping to nap). I know our 5yr old son will be able to make it until 10:30 so I decided we need a second night and not feel like we have to rush with everything or push it.
Our son attended Princess and Pirate party and the Halloween party and those 2 parties he remembers the most about Disney. I'm hoping he loves this one. He loves the Characters dressed up differently and the Dance parties.

I wouldn't say that my wife and I regret going. We had a great time but I think we will appreciate it more when we have children with us. It is very enjoyable and worth the money you spend.

I'll give you the other side.

If they REALLY limited the tickets--I'd go for it. They pack 'em in like sardines.

There was free cookies and hot cocoa. I never pass up free, but this time I did because the lines were INSANE.

The park was CROWDED beyond belief.

We did wait in line for the free picture (stupid, stupid, stupid) (1 hour).

It was crowded.

On the upside, the rides were fairly empty.

All of that being said if you don't mind paying the extra, don't have a stroller to navigate through the crowds and don't have a lot of days to do the parks, this is your best bet.

There are tons of people milling about so get going to the rides.

My review also stands for the MNSSHP. Also they don't give out much candy at all, but again the rides are empty. Some people will say they got tons of candy, but it was 20 minute waits for a sticker, spider ring, tiniest pieces of candy ever, etc.

DHS was much better (IMO) for holiday fun. You stand with all the people (crowded for the very beginning and then it spreads out) in the New York area and they flip the switch and everything is lit up and it snows. REALLY pretty.

I gather from your post that you think it was a little overcrowded:rotfl2::rotfl2::rotfl2:

I went on the 11th of November this year.
Wall to wall humanity. 40 minute wait for Peter Pan and other fantasyland rides at 8:30pm, lines everywhere and no room in front of the castle to see Wishes. Had to get a spot well before the second parade started and needed security to keep people from taking it.
Some other people on here said all we had to do was push through towards the front of the park and there was plenty of room, but how could we know that at the time?
I thought it was insanely crowded and will never take the gamble again.

We went back in 2004 and will NEVER do it again. It was so not worth it. Like the others said, it was way too crowded. They shuffled everyone into tomorrow land and closed everything while they set it all up all shops, food, etc. Then all the special shows were at the same time, so you had to run from show to show and just chose one or two that you wanted to see and it was like a mad race to see shows that werent in Tomorrowland. We didnt do our picture because we had no idea where to do it, never found the hot cocoa and cookies, and even though it's pretty, the snow on main street didnt do it for me...I hate snow and cold and live in it normally so it wasn't that special for me. AND the parade was not on time because someone fell infront of the first float and they had to delay it..not that it was disneys fault it just made for a super late night and very miserable kids. We have stopped going to the parks late with the kids overall. It's not worth it.
Dont get me wrong it was decorated nice but not worth the time and money and chaos for us. Good luck with the decision, it's hard to make when you haven't been there. Enjoy your trip! :thumbsup2

My youngest DS was 5 when he did his first MVMCP and we made sure we went back to the room for a mid day break and made sure he took a nap
Makes all the difference in the world, he stayed awake the whole nite

We did it the first week in November and loved it. My kids are 6 and 4. We had been at MK all day our last day there and just did not want to leave, so we bought tickets. It was our most magical time there. It was the perfect ending to a perfect trip!

We did MVMCP a couple of weeks ago and we enjoyed it. Hey, you are at Disney so it is all good. :lovestruc

My son also did the pirate adventure at the GF and had an awesome time. I would highly recommend the pirate adventure and it was worth every penny. They took them off on the boat for the full 2 hours and he completely enjoyed himself. I will definitely have him go on it again next year.pirate:

The worst part of MVMCP was getting down main street as we arrived just before 7pm. People had already staked out their parade spots, other people were trying to leave the park and lots of us were trying to make it down main street - it was insane but once we made it through that, the party was a great experience. We have also done the MNSSHP and enjoyed it too. I would do both parties again in the future.

Also coming from the Great White North, I thought that Disney did a great job making the snow seem authenthic. They even had a cool wind on main street from fans to go with the snow coming down. Of course, going from 80 degrees to 26 below Farenheit was not a fun return to reality - landing in Calgary seeing everything covered in snow brrrrr. It kind of makes me feel like it has been a couple of months since we were at Disney when it was just 2 weeks ago.

We wouldn't do it again. DH and I went in 2007 and it was fabulous! We had low crowds and I think that makes all the difference. It was so much fun that we talked it up to my in-laws so much that they decided to join us for our holiday trip in 2008. We were SO excited to take them to MVMCP! We went during the same week, but let me tell you, it was wall-to-wall people. We didn't have much fun at all. My MIL is blind, so she needs to be arm-in-arm with someone to lead her around and we couldn't believe how many rude people were actually shoving her out of the way.

That was it for us; we said never again. So we didn't go in 2009 and we won't be going this year.

Maybe we'll give it another chance when we have kids though!

Whatever you decide, have fun- you're in Disney! :cool1:

We did it last year and I did regret it - but it might have been different if it wasn't raining. None of the characters were out and none of the outside shows happened. We got hot cocoa/cookies and stood forever waiting for the parade that was delayed because of the rain. Then we waited for the fireworks that you couldn't see because of the smoke (again because of the rain). We were so cold and wet that we left - we rode no rides, saw no shows or characters. I am glad that we only got tickets for me and my adult daughter and left my dh and 2 small children at the hotel - I would have been really bummed if we had bought 5 tickets to just watch a parade.

We did MVMCP this year for the first time, Nov 12 and 16th. Definitely didn't regret. It was certainly crowded on Main Street, but we walked on rides and loved the shows, especially Totally Tomorrowland Christmas show. Just get there early and get a seat on the carpets on the ground. And we watched the parade sitting outside Pecos Bill's, felt like we were IN the parade.

Way too crowded and not enough value for the money. It would be one thing if they offered some really special activities to offset the cost, but a couple bubble snowflakes, some really watered down hot cocoa and a stale cookie does not justify the price for us. And when I say crowded - I mean CROWDED.

We just went on Nov 19th for our first time. Now we haven't been to MNSSHP so we can't compare it, but the Christmas Party was fun. We didn't care about the ride lines (we have APs), but it was nice to get pics with all 7 Dwarfs and some other rare characters. We probably won't go again, but it was a fun time.
