Did anyone notice Carter leaving the hospital carrying a box? Is he leaving the show next season?

What an ending too!

Now that you mention it, I do remember him carrying a box. I don't think they would have him leave that way though. He's the only original character. I was aggravated with the ending though. I know the networks like "cliffhangers", but we need some sort of resolution. At least the kid and him mom were OK. I couldn't handle death 2 weeks in a row.

I know Beth, I'm glad the Mom & kid were okay too. That was one heck of a way to start the show.

I'm not thrilled about the way they left us hanging either. Darn it!

I don't think he is leaving, maybe it was a box of food for dinner? I recall reading that the original writer/producer (is it Crichton??) always envisioned ending the series with Carter running the ER.

Yeah, last week was pretty bad for me. I'm 8 months pregnant and I believe they said Carter's GF was almost 8 months. Good thing I don't freak out easily.

Last week was bad, I am 38 weeks pregnant and when DH saw the direction the story was headed he talked me into changing the channel because he didn't want me waking him every 20 minutes all night worried about whether or not the baby was moving. Not that it's a problem with this little one, she dances all night. :D

Great show!!

is it next season yet!! :hyper:
It seems so long away to find all the answers to all the hangings.

Just a thought - it was something he was bringing home for his wife - gifts or some such. He worked awfully hard at saving that kid - like it was personal.

He wants to have another - and now's he's gonna try to convince his wife that she wants to try again too.

So what about Neela? Will she ever be seen or heard from again? When the character was first introduced, I didn't care for her but now I really like her and was very disappointed that she was turning down the internship.

I think that Carter signed a two or three year contract last summer so he should be around. I kept thinking from the previews taht Carrie might take a gun to court and get Henry back any way she had to.

Last week was pretty bad but do you remember when Dr GReen lost the mother during a bad delivery? I was expecting at that time and it was a really bad episode as well.

Carter and Kim aren't married yet. Personally I dont care for her, so I wouldn't have been horrified if she was written out.

Neela needs to grow up! I can't stand her. She 's a complaining little whiner.

As for the box, I noticed it too. It could be a few things 1) medical supplies for Africa 2) just charts and stuff to work on at home 3) cards/momentos from coworkers

I do agree, but I was talking with my DH about this last night. I can't imagine how scary it is to finish up med school and become a Doctor. All of a sudden your decisions mean life or death. These aren't accounting mistakes, you could kill someone. As much as she whines, I'm sure a lot of doctors finish up med school and freak out a bit. That's a lot of work to go through and then decide you can't handle it.

Aside from that.....I think this has been the best season of ER in a long time. I'm not saying the show has been bad the past few years, but it (IMO) had slipped a little. This year reminded me of the first couple seasons (although I was a little let down by the last 5 minutes). I hope they keep it up for next year.

I noticed the box but not sure what it could mean. All interviews etc with Noah Wylie indicate he will continue at least a few more years. That doesn't mean he'll be in every episode so maybe he's going back to Africa?

I pointed the box out to DH last night too. I wonder what was in it?
Like someone said probably supplies for Africa.
I also am not a big fan of Kem's. I wouldn't be disappointed if she went back to Africa without Carter.

I am glad Abby is a Doctor now :)

I am really hoping Carrie gets Henry back. I can't believe Sandy's parents are doing that to her!!!!!

Oh, I remember that episode. I don't even like watching it when it is on reruns.

I was not expecting at that time, but when I was in labor with my son about a year or so later, it all came back to me because my son was shoulder dystocia. The same complication the mother had in that episode.
I was never so scared in my life!!!!

Thank God, my son & I survived the delivery but it was some very SCARY & TENSE moments!!!!!!

I was very surprised that it was the season finale last night. I go to spoiler sites for shows I watch (I'm very impatient and I need to know!), and it indicated that last night's episode was supposed to be the second to last, and gave a very detailed explanation of the season finale, which tied up some of the loose ends. The site's been pretty dead on, so I am very confused as to why they may have cut the last ep.

I was also pregnant when Dr. Green's big episode "Love's Labor Lost" first aired. I had heard that it wouldn't be a nice happy episode in advance so I was prepared for it but everyone in my family kept calling me during the show to make sure I was okay. My dh was out that night so I was home alone. I had to watch it and tell my mom, sister and MIL why that wouldn't happen in my case.

"Love's Labour Lost" was one of the most frightening things I had ever seen! It was because it was a good doctor (Dr. Green) who made bad decision after bad decision that resulted in his patient's death. When we think of medical malpractice, we think of doctors who almost flunked out of medical school or doctors who drink or get high on the job or just don't care...But that episode showed us a "good" doctor, who was spending plenty of time with his patient and who had totally good intentions, who still made all the wrong decisions. That is probably closer to how medical tragedies happen in real life than we'd like to think.

YES I noticed Carter's box...why didn't Abby say something? But I had also read that Carter likes being on the show. They disposed of so many characters last night...after the show, DS said "Next year it will just be Abby and Luca!" I thought that maybe Carter is getting ready to go to Africa for a while.

I don't think Abby and Luka will get back together. I really think he will go and find Sam and take care of her ex for her. I am also hoping that Kerry will get Harry back.

I hope the Kerry and her baby story line has given a wake up call to gay couples (and any other "non-conventional" families) to take care of things legally.

A guy at work and his partner just had a baby with a surrogate...I don't know which one is the biological dad. But our state has a 6 month waiting period before an adoption can become final, so now I'm worried about what would happen if the biological dad died before the other could adopt.

So if you're raising kids outside of a traditional marriage, please - through adoption or through your will or whatever is necessary - make sure that your kids would be raised by the other parent in the event of your death.
