forgive me if this is old news...but I remember to be able to add a special request to the adr like a birthday celebration, (which in turn "usually" meant a special birthday card or cupcake coming at end of meal)... now I am noticing when I try and make the adr's that the only special request is for dietary needs?...

did they change this or am I missing something? Can I not add that anymore somewhere? TIA :)

You need to call to add any special occasion requests to your reservations. You can remind your server at the restaurant and be sure to wear the celebration button.

Also, anything special including cards, cupcakes, confetti, etc are at the discretion of the restaurant and server so it's best not to expect anything. Some will acknowledge the event, others will completely ignore it.

thanks.... I know it isn't a guaranteed thing, but we always had success.. so just call the dining number directly and have them put the bday request on? I wonder why they took that option away from doing it ourselves?

My guess is that to many folks were indicating a "special" event and then complaining when nothing substantial (e.g., free cupcake, dessert, etc.) was done to acknowledge it. So Purple Figment said, you'll have to call the regular dining phone number and have the CM on the phone add the note to each dining ADR you wanted it noted on.

You can also just tell the CM when you check in what you are celebrating and they can note it on your ADR. Also, it might help if you're wearing a button announcing whatever you're celebrating. Still, as the PP said, it's best not to expect anything to happen. The past isn't always a good indicator of the future. I've had pretty good success as well, but there have been places where the server didn't even say Happy Birthday, so just keep that in mind.
