We just watched the incredible Dick Van Dyke 98th BD magic show on CBS (which is kinda bizarre it wasn't on ABC assuming disney still owns it)...anyway....the part that made it good was watched Dick Van Dyke's reaction to the performances.

He was amazed and surprised and so happy and it warmed my little 1960s disney heart to see him so thrilled.

The old clips of him were also great.

HOWEVER...who were most of the folks there?? I recognized Julie Andrews and Carole and Martin and Jason and Jim....but there could have been so many great folks come by to wish him a happy birthday.

If it had been up to me, I would have worked my tail off to get Bob Iger to 'represent' and thank him for his contributions to disney. I would also have gotten Kurt Russell.

I mean here is a LEGEND and there were so few similar peers who wished him well on the show. It sorta surprised me.

What did you think if you saw it and who would have been on your guest list?

I enjoyed it and also loved how excited he was. I was surprised he remembered so many of the songs. I'm thinking a lot of his co-stars aren't around anymore. He did alot of other things besides Disney so they probably didn't want to focus on that.

The Dick Van Dyke Show & Diagnosis Murder were on CBS. He’s known for those as much as any Disney movie. Not really bizarre they did a tribute show. There was a thread when the show first aired where a lot of people weren’t happy with the guests too. The show was produced by in conjunction with his wife, I’m sure she made good decisions on the guests. The theme of the show was how he inspired generations of performers. So seeing those people perform in tribute to the man who inspired them seems appropriate to me.

Yeah, CBS is the network that made him famous and paved the way for the Disney films. Disney didn't even buy ABC until 34 years after the Dick Van Dyke show premired
