Is going to be released on November 9th. Has anyone seen a price better than $7.67? That's the price on Amazon.com, Borders.com, B&N.com and Target.com.

Our school promised delivery on the 9th but that was for the paperback (and it was more money :scared1:). But DS "needs" hardcover so I need the book delivered on the 9th so he has it the same day as his friends.

So far my best choice is to go with Amazon and sign up for a free trial of Amazon Prime to get it delivered on the 9th which means I also won't pay taxes.

But if anyone has seen a better price, please, please let me know.

This is exactly what I did, for exactly the same reasons! My DS12 wants hardcover on the day its released. I couldn't find a better deal.

I have actually been loving the free trial, and I have been shopping quite a bit. You may enjoy it too with Christmas just around the corner. Its a treat to have free shipping without worrying about getting the total up to $25, plus it is very fast shipping! I also pre-ordered Crocodile Tears which is being released in paperback next month. He will get that on the day its released too. Does your son read any of the Alex Rider books? They are great and high on my son's list of favorite books.

Nope, no Alex Rider.

I have an e-reader which he and I share and I download our books immediately so for books there's no advantage to me to the Prime Membership other than this one book which he "needs" in hardcover and of course it's not available yet as an e-book either  or I'd tell him that I'd buy the e-book and he'd have it before everyone else at school (man that would make him happy).

I was hoping to find a code for a longer free trial of Amazon Prime to take advantage of the free shipping on BF for their deals on stuff and any subsequent deals at Amazon but so far no luck on that front. I may hold out until next week to pre-order so that I can extend the time of my trial membership past BF.

my DS loves the Diary books. I just ordered it thru school but I did not realize it was not hard cover. Now I am going to have to worry about the book getting destroyed.:sad2:

You're school may have the hardcover. We had the option to pay $7.95 for the Paperback from Scholastic. They're delivering it to the classrooms during DEAR time which makes this whole thing so hard. He's going to be jonesing for that book when he gets home from school and be upset if he doesn't get it that day like all his friends.

Will Costco have it the day it is released? They usually have good prices on their books.

The best price is FREE at your local library!
We are on the reserve list for when it comes out, then the books are processed in. So, our family won't be reading it on the 9th - but I really, really hate to pay for books knowing my taxes go to the library anyway and I'm there several times a week :thumbsup2
Maybe your son can borrow the book from one of his friends?
DS will pour through a book in a couple of hours and be done. If your son has a friend like that, they could read it on the same day!

I'm a big fan of the library as well, but that would NEVER work with Diary of a Wimpy Kid books in this house! My son has read each of his over and over again and they are his cherished possessions. We do only have the paperbacks, but he takes good care of his stuff, so we don't have to worry about that. I had to order the book the day it became available. We just order through Scholastic, because for each book we order, our teacher gets a free book for the classroom. It's a fantastic program.

This is my DS. He reads them and reads them and reads them. We had a paperback of one and it fell apart which is why we went with the hardcover. Many of his books are actually electronic. Which while it does cost me money does save a lot of clutter :thumbsup2 The Library doesn't work for us because DS doesn't read very much and takes a long long time to read something. It took him over a month to read the first Diary of a Wimpy kid.

Im hoping Costco will have it.. we too buy them in hardcover. Alot of books we do check out at the library but there are certain series the kids would like to own.. Same goes for the Percy Jackson books..

Costco has had the other recent Diary releases in hardback when they debuted. They are always a decent price there and I'm planning on going to get new Wimpy Kid there! Our WHOLE family reads these books and DS especially reads them over and over so for us we NEED to purchase!

We just ordered ours for $7.00 (paperback) from school for the Scholastic book order. :thumbsup2
