Diapers that won't leak!

We found that Pampers worked best with DS - especially for the BF poop diapers. And I definitely agree about moving up a size, that always helped lessen the problem. Good luck!

Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers worked best for both DD's - Huggies leaked around the legs. We loved Huggies Overnights though! I think they start at size 3.

As the PP said, also try going up a size. I always moved DDs up as soon as they got to the bottom weight for the size (sometimes earlier, because the girls are both long-waisted and they needed the extra length).

:lmao:

I always double or triple layer sheets. Mattress > Mattress pad > sheet > mattress pad > sheet them maybe even a third layer for a kid who is sick or potty training, etc.. That way in the middle of the night I can just strip the top layer and don't have to remake the bed, kwim?

And my final comment, I potty trained DD at age 2, it was awsome! I'm so glad I didn't wait longer, and actually wished I had started even sooner. I read the book "Diaper Free Before 3" and higly recommend it to every parent!

To the OP, yes to the above! We used a mattress pad (out of the sheets, directly under him) like this. Was also good for milk puddles, b/c we had (have) a family bed and I didn't want milk to stain the mattress either.

northriver,
DS started figuring out the potty at 18 months, and was completely done, diapers with a final wash and put away, less than a year later. Yay~ But he did start backwards, holding his pee all night all on his own...that's totally backwards from what most kids do, and for that we are so thankful!

I used cloth and pampers. both worked well. Try the larger sizes like the others said, it may do the trick. Onesies are a nightmare with a blowout, over the head mess:scared1: Both my babes nursed into their twos. My 2 1/2 year old recently potty trained himself and hasn't peed the bed yet!!!!:cool1: Just had to share that, especially since I sleep in the same bed half the time!:rotfl: Good luck with your diaper search!

White cloud at Wal-mart are cheap and work really great. I used them on my own 3 youngest children and on quite a few of my daycare infants and toddlers over the years. Alot of their parents loved them and alot of my friends use them for their little ones.

Throw away diapers has improved MUCH over the last 30+ years that I have been dealing with them. There was a time when disposable diapers did not come with sticky tape ya had to use the old fashioned diaper pins (try poking a pin thru all that plastic an padding) Also the diapers was full of cotton that more or less shifted as the baby moved an was NEVER ever in the right place.

Then came the throw aways with sticky tape but the tape stuck onto plastic on front of diaper an if you did not get diaper taped tight enough or needed to adjust a diaper for any reason you was pretty much out of luck chances was you was gonna tear diaper beyond being able to use it. Along about that time was also a brand called Klennex that had blocks that was gonna fade as the baby wet. Problem was by the time the blocks faded the baby had better know how to swim.

Oh then came the 90's with boy girl blue an pink diapers guess what I couldn't tell no dif. At least by now the tape did restick on to some stiffer plastic at the waist band. Elastic in the legs was just starting then....

From the late 60's when disposable diapers 1st came out thru the early 90's sizing didn't change much nor did we have cuisers or swaddlers all babies a certain weight wore that size diaper more or less. Myself when diapers started leaking pee at night I moved mine up into the next size diaper that worked well.

Muddy diapers has ALWAYS been a problem just be glad you no longer standing over the toliet hanging on to cloth diaper for dear life while ya give the diaper a swirlly not once once was never enough usually 4 or 5 flushings at least......

What size is she wearing right now?

I LOVED Pampers Swaddlers when my sons were newborns. They are the best diapers around, IMO.

Pampers Cruisers are the next best, once you reach size 3.

I found that Pampers Swaddlers and Cruisers were the ONLY diapers that did not leak for BOTH my kids. It has a lot to do with your baby's leg shape/size. My kids both had super skinny thighs, and the leg openings in all the other brands were too "slack". Pampers has GOOD elastic on the legs and it's very snug.

In my experience, Huggies are the worst...

Just buy a small pack of Pampers to try. DON'T get the "Baby Dry" Pampers. Those are too similar to Huggies, and they are meant for larger/chubbier babies, since they have large leg holes and not much elastic on the waist.

For top blowouts, I found that the regular Huggies work the best for us. These are the ones with the little downward-facing elastic "dam" about an inch under the back edge. The Supremes don't have it, so don't waste your money.

I've found that with regular Pampers I need to turn down the back top edge toward the inside to form a dam, but containment is good when I do that. Problem is that I tend to forget.

One thing to be aware of is that you need to overlap the waist tabs really tightly. IME, having them "meet" will give you too loose a fit. Diapers tend to be sized based on the "normal" formula-fed child's average waist size, and BF babies tend to be slimmer around the waist.

PS: Same deal with the waistbands of little pants/shorts/bloomers. BF babies tend to do best with one-piece outfits that don't have to depend on a waistband to hold them up, because again, the clothes are sized for formula-fed babies, and will be too large in the waist on most BF babies. I have a new girl and 2-piece outfits are fashionable for girls just now, so I got a lot as gifts. Not a single one of the pants/leggings would stay up until I took in the waists by at least 2 inches.

I tried them all and found Pampers Swaddlers/Cruisers work best for us. And I agree with everyone who said go up a size!! Or even 2 sizes if need be! Those weight labels are so wrong. I've always used bigger (once I figured that out with my first son after he was leaking constantly.)

I started out with Huggies because... they have Mickey on them! I used them for about a month, decided I was sick of being leaked on, and have been with pampers swaddlers to cruisers ever since. Never had a leak or "blow out" once, other than overnite a few times when I forgot to change durring feeding....

I would try Pampers. I moved both my kids to the next size when they got close to the weight on package. If they are a little bigger then they are more absorbent. Pampers worked great for my DD, but Huggies worked best for my DS :goodvibes .

This was the exactly the same for my children. For DD, Pampers were great. For DS, Huggies was a better fit. Never could understand it?!

I used cloth and disposables. Pampers worked better than huggies for my dd's BF poops. We didn't switch to cloth until she was 15 months. I have to say that cleaning poop out of cloth dipes was better than her little outfits. It is much easier to get poo out of a fabric that was actually designed to catch it. It also helped that we set up a little spray hose to our toilet and could just spray the poo off right into the toilet.

TARGET brand diapers rock!! I had the same trouble with my son and I sincerely doubted Target brand, but a friend said to go for it and I did. I don't buy any other brand -- except Huggies overnights cause he pees a lot ;)

It worked well for my son, and I BF too.

We're mostly using cloth, and they seem to hold everything in. When we need disposables, Huggies seem to work best. I've never used Pampers, and really didn't like Luvs.
