Is anybody else EXTREMELY disappointed that the Diamond Horseshoe Saloon Revue has closed for The Character Roundup?

They closed the Skyway and put characters there, then they closed 20,000 Leagues and put some characters in a corner (as if this was supposed to make up for these attractions) and NOW The Diamond Horseshoe Revue?

What's next?:( :( :(

Are you telling me that there will no longer be a *show* there? I guess I was thinking that they were re-vamping the show, not replacing it with a *character greeting* area. That would be so incredibly lame! :(

Sorry, I didn't mean to mislead you....It looks to me like they are revamping the show but maybe adding characters????? I don't know for sure, I'm thinking Chip and Dale maybe? A show yes, not so much a character greet, but nonetheless a "Character" Show.

If anybody else knows exactly what we should expect, I'd appreciate hearing what that might be.

I just really liked the show the way it was. It was very funny, and I'm afraid it's going to just turn into another cutesy character interaction type of venue.

There have been several posts about this on the Rumors and News Board.

We were fortunate enough to attend the last performance of the DHR and it was so touching. I will truly miss this show, as I can still remember the first show I attended in 1973.

I fear that there will soon be no entertainment in the MK geared toward the whole family - I don't think MK needs another character meet & greet. I have heard that there might be a Toy Story themed show there eventually.

How sad if they really change this show & put in a Character venue. There are just so many other opportunities to see the characters, including breakfasts & dinners.

DHR was so much fun when we saw it in Nov. I am sad to hear it may not be there any more. :(

We just discovered this show last October. My daughter and I stopped in for an ice cream, saw the show, and loved it. When we returned with the whole family over Thanksgiving, we made a point to catch the show, and everyone (ages 43,42,17,14,and 10) had a great time. I agree that there are not many shows geared toward families with older children.

Sometimes I think Disney forgets that Disneyworld is not just for kids. When my boys were old enough to go off on their own at WDW my husband and I always enjoyed stopping in and having a sandwich while we watched the show. I will miss it.

according to a memo posted in our greenroom (DAK), they are revamping the show with characters, due to guest comments about wanting more characters.

I was able to attend the last show. It was very touching and bittersweet experience for the cast and audience. I expect that those who want more character shows will enjoy it. I am sure I will like the new show.

I think it is unfortunate, though, that we are losing a live show in MK when we have so many other options to enjoy character activities like the surprise party at the castle, greet areas, and parades.

I took my DD to the show and she was not happy at first. By the time the show started, she was clapping and singing. She loved it! She also likes the trolley singing on Main St. and the musicians in front of Country Bear. I think MK should try to maintain the variety of live and character entertainment.

We saw the show twice in mid-January. We were told by one of the stage performers that all of them had been reassigned or laid off. He explained that they would be replaced ( sometime in June) with a chracter meet and greet. I asked him if it was a show of some kind. He said he did not think so and requested that we write a letter. He told us that he feels like some of the good old "Walt" types of things are being replaced and the Magic Kingdom is somehow not what it used to be. We were sad. We loved visiting the DHSS, having an ice cream soda and watching the, usually, charming show. My nine year old particularly enjoyed it.

I hear they are replacing Tapestry of Dreams in Epcot with a character based parade also. Yes, we enjoy the characters - in moderation! When the same character is around every corner - it ruins the magic - even the little kids know that Chip and Dale can't be in six places at the same time!

Epcot is supposed to be educational - I loved the Tapestry of Dreams - and especially the Tapestry of Nations - working other cultures is the point of the the World Showcase!

I don't believe the reports of guest comments - they look at what the bottom line is - talent costs more than a body in a suit!

I think that is EXACTLY it! And it IS a shame! Sometimes changes are not for the *better*.....case in point....replacing EE with the Character Caravan. That went over well, wouldn't you say?

We will miss he singing Cowboy and Miss Lucille with her dancing girls. We have seen this show every trip since I was 9. I remember it being more elaborate and every year it cut down. When we went in 1990 I vaguely recall my DH being carried on stage in his chair by many dancers, males and females. Then it was cut down to Miss Lucille with her three girls and then even they were gone. The grandparents love this show, we don't need more characters! DHR was what set Disney apart from just any old theme park. I think we all should write letters:

I agree. Let those in charge know what you really want. Especially since they seem to think this new show is what you want.

I told my DH & 3 DD's this morning (13, 10 & 10) that the rumor was they will be changing this show to a character meet & greet or a character show of some sort. They were all extremely disappointed.

One of my 10 year olds said, "Aren't there enough characters around to see? I really liked that show & that was one of the things on my list of things to do when we go back in April." So that tells you right there that not everyone, including children, want characters everywhere.

How sad it will be if the show "can't be saved". :(
