Diagnosis for Vince's Doc *First Chemo update 2/24--pg 5*

So sorry to hear that Dan. My dog was diagnosed with cancer about a month before I left for Disney in May July of 2001. He lived up until last summer. So Doc might have a few good years left in him. :)

I'm so sorry that Doc is sick, Dan. He is beautiful - he looks a lot like our Rotty, but we have a 3 1/2 year old female so she is not as big as he is. Ours is such a loveable baby, as I'm sure Doc is. Here's hoping that the chemo treatments work quickly, the side effects are minimal, and he enjoys many more healthy years with his family. All of you will be in our thoughts.

Prayers for you, Doc, and Vince, and that Doc may recover fully. I had no idea that Dogs, cats, could get Cancer, until I had a big grey cat have cancer back in 1978.:( His name was Smokey.:( to all......Faith

Sorry to hear this Dan. I will continue to keep Doc & Vince in my thoughts and prayers. Keep us posted as to how he is doing.

Stopping by with a thank you again, for always being here to support my family and myself. We do, I do, appreciate it, very much so, you are the best, family. As for Doc, a visit to the vet oncologist this coming week, Tuesday I think. In the meantime, Doc acts like he hasn't a clue :) and that is nice.

So sorry to hear that diagnosis. :( Hopefully, with treatment, Doc will improve. Y'all are in my thoughts.

Again, thanks everyone for all your good thoughts, kind words and prayers.

Marie and I took Doc to the oncology vet office (Vince is just starting with a new department and can not get time off) today for Doc's evaluation and first treatment. The Veterinary Specialty Center is a referral only animal veterinary hospital. We both were VERY impressed and pleased with our initial impressions of the center and feel fortunate such a facility as this is so close by, less than 10 minutes from home.

We are working with the internal medicine group, Dr. John Hintermeister. He was good, seemed very knowledgeable, as would expect, and we both felt comfortable with his manner. The diagnosis was further confirmed as to Doc's lymphoma. The course of treatment suggested, and taken on, will be a rather aggressive 26 week protocol of chemo and adjunct therapy and care. Two of the medicines are the same as Marie took for her breast cancer 6 years ago. The long term prognosis, short of any real miracle, is, on the long side, maybe 2 years. Without treatment, it would be weeks.

So, ole Doc had his first treatment and is home, relaxing, enjoying life.

continued good thoughts for Doc and your family.

He is one special doggie! ::yes:: Time to go out and get him a BIG box of doggie treats....a box as big as his owner's heart! :lovestruc

I'm sorry to hear this Dan. I hope the treatment works well and is easy on him.

I hope Doc's treatment goes well. A  for your family.

Dan, I continue to keep you all, especially Doc, in my prayers. I hope the treatments are not too hard on him. I'm sure he'll get lots of extra loving care and comfort as he works on getting better!

Best wishes to Vince as he starts with a new department. Not easy when your furbaby is going through so much.

Gentle  for your family and a gentle belly rub for dear Doc.

I will continue to pray for Doc and his very loving family.

Continued prayers for Doc and you all, Dan. I'll pray for a miracle and that Doc will have a good life ahead of him
