I know it would be a bit unconvient for people that need to carry these items but I find it a little scarey that a needle can so easily be brought on a plane I'm not really sure what they could do to make it safer since I know I wouldn't feel comfortable it I had a loved one that needed this medication and it couldn't be quickly accessed if needed but it just seems it could easily become a weapon if in the wrong hands.

Syringe needles are generally a bit delicate - at least not all that durable the ones I've seen. I suppose it would be possible to threaten one person with a syringe but I don't see how it could lead to a being a weapon so frightening that a planeload of passengers would be intimidated by it. 9/11 still scares the heck out of me but the idea of a plane being terrorized with a syringe needle put some monty pythonistic scene up in my mind like the "comfy chair"....

I read Anne's originial post - my 3 year old is diabetic - and I didn't read anything rude into it. I hope the TSA screener I get has seen it all cause I'll be carrying on an entire small case with syringes, insulin, infusion sets, tubing, glucagon, epipens, eczema meds, albuterol vials, a nebulizer and so on and he wears an insulin pump.

OK, I guess I just don't understand what the big deal is. I fly with an Epipen and a variety of medications to control my asthma and in case of an allergic reaction to a veriety of things. I have never worried about the TSA not knowing what theings were. They see them all the time. I don't know why you all took such offense to my comments. I wasn't pitying or belittling you, I was pointing out that it's just not a big deal. (Flying with the supplies, not the disease, which is most certainly a serious situation.)

I wasn't really thinking of using the needle like a weapon like jabbing it into someone but more like who would know if it was insalin or something else in a vial? I thought it could be a danger if someone was injected an an attempt to take over the plane.
