Diabetic

I know it would be a bit unconvient for people that need to carry these items but I find it a little scarey that a needle can so easily be brought on a plane I'm not really sure what they could do to make it safer since I know I wouldn't feel comfortable it I had a loved one that needed this medication and it couldn't be quickly accessed if needed but it just seems it could easily become a weapon if in the wrong hands.

I was not trying to be rude, just offering some common sense advice. Information gathered off these boards is great, but in this type of circumstance, the best information is from the carriers web site directly.

Syringe needles are generally a bit delicate - at least not all that durable the ones I've seen. I suppose it would be possible to threaten one person with a syringe but I don't see how it could lead to a being a weapon so frightening that a planeload of passengers would be intimidated by it. 9/11 still scares the heck out of me but the idea of a plane being terrorized with a syringe needle put some monty pythonistic scene up in my mind like the "comfy chair"....

I read Anne's originial post - my 3 year old is diabetic - and I didn't read anything rude into it. I hope the TSA screener I get has seen it all cause I'll be carrying on an entire small case with syringes, insulin, infusion sets, tubing, glucagon, epipens, eczema meds, albuterol vials, a nebulizer and so on and he wears an insulin pump. :earboy2:

Common sense I have, its experience with diabetes I don't have.

OK, I guess I just don't understand what the big deal is. I fly with an Epipen and a variety of medications to control my asthma and in case of an allergic reaction to a veriety of things. I have never worried about the TSA not knowing what theings were. They see them all the time. I don't know why you all took such offense to my comments. I wasn't pitying or belittling you, I was pointing out that it's just not a big deal. (Flying with the supplies, not the disease, which is most certainly a serious situation.)

I wasn't really thinking of using the needle like a weapon like jabbing it into someone but more like who would know if it was insalin or something else in a vial? I thought it could be a danger if someone was injected an an attempt to take over the plane.
