My DS is 5. He doesn't watch Clubhouse Disney or any other Disney tv shows (we don't have cable). Is it worth it for us to spend time at DHS? We will be at Disney for 7 nights, but plan on spending at least 3 days at MK and would like to spend 2 each at Epcot and AK. It doesn't look like there is a lot for kids at DHS.

I have to tell you, if it wasn't for the Playhouse Disney and Toy Story Mania, we wouldn't even be going. As it is, we're only planning for half a day there, seeing those two attractions, Muppet Vision, Voyage of the Little Mermaid and maybe Beauty and the Beast. We're not big thrill ride people so we will be in and out there.

Absolutely GO! There is the Indiana Jone's, Light Motor Action, Star Tours, Sci-Fi for a great location for a lunch.... For me I wouldn't go to Disney and leave a Theme park out. My DS & DD where both 5 when we went and both loved it!:thumbsup2

There is definitely enough to do there to make at least one day worthwhile. I can't imagine going to the world and leaving a park out! :scared1:

We've gone three times with DD. At the time she was 2, 4 and 6. She hated it each time. Her and I spent most of our time looking for something to do while DH rode the rides.

IMHO skip it.

I could not go to Disney and leave a theme park out either.
That being said DS is my least favorite park BUT I would be sad if we did not go.....my husband and son love this park and it is their favorite.

There is also Magic of Disney Animation at this park, which we enjoy.

Go for at least a 1/2 day...give it a try!

I took my niece for her first visit last fall when she was 4, a week shy of her 5th birthday. We spent a couple of hours at DHS. We did Ariel, Beauty & the Beast, Toy Story Mania and had a snack. She wasn't interested in anything else.

I agree that it is worth at least a 1/2 day if you have park hoppers...Toy Story Mania is so much fun...My little ones went on TSM four times this past trip because they loved it so much...They also love Lights, Motor, Action and enjoyed Indiana Jones...The Little Mermaid is also really nice even with boys...We all really enjoyed our meal at Prime Time this go around...We used to be big fans of Sci-Fi but not so much this time.

When we went this past March, we thought we would do DHS for only a half day to ride TSM and to see both Muppet Vision and The Little Mermaid. Well, once we got there, my oldest DD decided that she wanted to try ToT and RnRC with her dad. Then both my DDs wanted to try out Star Tours (which became their favorite ride in the park, next to TSM), then we had to go see the American Idol experience. We ended up spending the whole day there, plus we went back another day because they had evening EMH. Since my kids were much littler the last few times we went there, we were not interested in much at that park. But since they have gotten older and want to experience lot of the bigger attractions, it is more fun for us. BTW....my youngest DD is 5 also and she had as much of a blast at DHS as her older sister.

I think so.......

My kids have been going since they were toddlers.

1. Playhouse Disney of course
2. Beauty and the beast
3. Voyage of the Little Mermaid
4. Cars Characters, Sully
5. Toy Story Characters and new ride (haven't rode yet)
6. Great parade with lots of recognizable "Disney Cartoon" Characters
7. Technically most 5 year olds could ride TOT and my kids did love it at 5
8. Star Wars - again my kids loved it and loved seeing Darth Vader and the Storm
Troopers
9. Lights Motor Extreme Stunt Show - my son especially has loved this even at 5
10. The Magic of Disney Animation - my kids LOVE the drawing lessons, the characters
and playing with the interactive games
11. Backlot Tour - My kids loved the beginning, the tram ride and getting to see the fire
12. Muppetvision
13. Honey I shrunk the kids playset
14. Great Movie Ride - this is still my DD17's favorite ride after all these years
15. Fantasmic - at 5, most kids love this!!!
16. One Man's Dream- forget the kids - DH and I love this!!! The kids like looking at all
the stuff.
17. Indiana Jones - Most kids like action

I could go on and on - we love DHS!!

Considering he's not a Playhous Di$ney watcher, probably not. TSM is great, but the waits are heinous. There's Mermaid and other live shows to catch, some like Lights and Indy will depend on how well he does with loud sounds (our DSs don't care for them). The parade is OK, but it's a slow mover. Beyond that there are the character greets in Pixar and the animation attraction. Frankly if it weren't for the Osborne lights, we would have skipped it last December.

My son was 6 the first time we went and he loved it! He was tall enough to get on Rock n Rollercoaster & Tower of Terror which were big thrills for him. He liked the stunt shows & Fastasmic! is pretty cool for any age.

I wouldn't totally leave it out. Although it is our least favorite park, we still find things to do and keep us busy most of the day. Besides, TSM is not to be missed, IMHO! I'd say try it out at least and if anything, you've only lost half a day.

I would think you could find plenty for at least a half day, maybe even a full day.

Toy story mania is really fun. Your son would probably enjoy star tours, the indiana jones show, Lights motor action show, Honey I shrunk the kids playground (my kids could play there for hours!), Muppet 3d show, Back lot tour, Great movie ride, Beauty and the beast show, Little Mermaid show, maybe Tower of terror if he's the daring type!

ETA: You probably won't need two days at AK. We have no problems covering it in one day.

My DS is 15, but he is "not a fan" of thrill rides. We probably would skip this park this year if it weren't for Toy Story Mania -- his favorite ride in all of the parks. We have been there for the past two years though -- I wouldn't skip it if you've never been -- great shows (especially on the first viewing -- Indiana Jones is our fave, but DS loves the Muppet show too), a lot of character interactions (Monsters Inc., Power Rangers, Incredibles -- plus some others in the animation building), and DS still loves the Honey I Shrunk the Kids playground (great photos too).

At 5, 2 days at Epcot may be a bit much too. I would do one day each at Epcot and HS, and keep the 3 days at MK and 2 at AK.

Whatever you decide, enjoy! :goodvibes

My friend took her 3 year old this year (with park hoppers) and they went there at least 3 times! He loves the Honey I shrunk the Kids playground, and they did a lot of shows. He does love Playhouse Disney, but even that could be fun just to do. With a 5 year old, he'd even enjoy more-especially TSM. That's if you can get there early and/or get a fast pass!

Do your kids like any of the Pixar movies? If so then you could make a full day out of DHS. Just meeting the Incredibles, Power Rangers, all the Toy Story characters and Mater and Lightning can keep you busy for a hour or two and my son loved meeting all of them. My son was 5 last year and likes all the Pixar movies as well as Star Wars so he loved this park and by the way we skipped Playhouse Disney while we were there!

Hmm...with 7 days, I might just check it out. You could do it in a half day.

I am taking my 3 year old DD but she will like the Playhouse Disney show, Little Mermaid & Beauty & the beast. And Toy Story Mania. Other than that, maybe muppets & characters. We probably won't stay a whole day either.

We don't have cable either, and kids are not into PD, but took DD5 and DS8 last yr., and spent two days(one till parade, one on sleep-in day from 2-Fantasmic). Both kids had plenty to do! DD5 loved IJ (did it twice), L,M,A, is very cool(cars speeding and exploding -need I say more!), Jedi training academy was fun to watch if Star Wars fans(DS8 didn't get picked, but both of them enjoyed it), muppets, backlot tour, ariel and b&b ( did w/ DD, not sure if DS would have liked as much!) and the best, TSM! Wished we could have ridden over and over! If you want to do it, get there at RD and ride/grab FP, or both - FP usually run out by 11:00am. You will love it as much as him! Then you can go across and meet Buzz & Woody. Fantasmic is great if you can do it w/only a few shows a wk. now, and Sci-Fi is fun to eat. The timing of the shows is the tricky part, so check Steve Soares website before you go, or get a Times Guide there to map out what you'd like to do. I wouldn't skip it - at least plan 1/2 day to check it out - agree w/other posters that AK can be done in 1 day.

I love the Studios...the atmosphere is fantastic. We took my 3 yr old last Fall, and he really loved Muppets, and Toy Story.
