I'm working on planning our FP+ and daily plans for our upcoming F&W trip and I've run into a snag...

We are an extended family of 10 and trying to stick together as much as we can for this trip. We have already established a rough itinerary for which parks we are visiting on each day. On our DHS day, we plan to arrive at 8am for EMH and get a few of the rides under our belt. At 10am, we plan to see the shows on our to-do list. The last one is the 12:30 Frozen show. Here's my dilemma...DD11 and I are planning on a culinary demo at 2pm at Epcot. Since the Frozen show is 30 minutes, is there ANY way that we would be able to get from DHS to the Festival Center at Epcot within an hour? I know that the boat is not an option. I *think* we could make the walk, but that is a LONG walk. I'm thinking that if I call for an Uber as we are walking towards the exit, then we could take it to the BC and go in the IG entrance. Would that save any time over walking the entire distance? Would we be able to make it? I need to figure this out before Tuesday which is when we will be booking the culinary demo.

Thanks!

By the time you call Uber, they find someone in the middle of the day to get you at DHS, and you get to Epcot, I'd think it'll be tight. Maybe just take a cab from DHS to Epcot?

Why is the boat not an option? We left Biergarten in November in the middle of Wishes. Walked to the IG, got on the next boat leaving and still made it to DHS in time to get into the Osborne Lights area and see the exhibit before they shut them off at 10pm. I know it depends on when the boat leaves, but if the boats are there, I'd do it. Otherwise, I'd walk.

Why is the boat not an option?

Isn't Epcot the last stop on the route from DS to Epcot? I thought the boat stopped at S/D, YC/BC, BW and then Epcot...that would take more time than walking! If Epcot is the first or second stop, then it might work. I just recall the boat ride being about 30 minutes from DS to Epcot and that would only work if we walked right on and left immediately.

I don't have a problem walking from DS to Epcot, but only if I can do it at a leisurely pace. I think this would be a power walk, borderlining on a jog so I'd like to minimize the walking distance, if possible. I checked the Uber fare estimate and it is a whopping $5-6...totally worth it.

You can't put 10 people in an Uber. You would need at least 1 UberX + 1 UberXL. You can check the fare estimate, but the XL is usually about 75% more than an X. The 2 cars would need to ordered by 2 different users on different phones.

The walk from Superstar Theater to Wonders of Life (the usual location for Festival Center) is almost 2 miles. If you can all do that in 45 minutes, you're good.

From Beach Club, it's still 0.8 mile walk to WoL. If you're going to use Uber anyway, consider going to Epcot's main entrance. It's about 5 minutes longer drive, but at the Guest dropoff, you'll be 1/2 mi. from WoL.

taking a boat is about 40 minutes.
i would recommend walking to EP as it is around a 25 minute walk.
otherwise take a bus to Epcot.

if you are considering uber, you will have to get more than one uber- which is going to be a hassle.

I guess I should clarify...
DD11 and I are the only 2 that are breaking off from the group and heading to Epcot, not all of us. I only mentioned the group because I know that the other option is simply skipping the show, but we are trying to stay together, if we can.

It may all be a moot point anyways....I realized there is another culinary demo later in the week that works better with our schedule. It's actually being held on a day we plan to be at Epcot. We were going to try and do both, but it looks like this first one may be a bit more work than I thought.

If the boat is at the dock or within sight, take it as far as Swan/Dolphin (or even BC) and then get off and walk.

If it's not visible, just walk. As long as you can keep an okay pace, you'll make it with plenty of time.

Why Über? Why not one of the cabs that will be waiting outside DHS, directly to the front entrance of Epcot?

The culinary demos are in the Festival Center which is in future world. There is a bus from DHS to the Epcot front gate. I recommend the bus. Should be no problem with time.

I would also recommend taking the bus to Epcot from DHS! I can make the walk, from DHS to International Gateway, in under 20 mins, but I'm cranking! Then, it's another 15+ mins to the demo you want! If you take the bus, it will drop you at the front of the park, which puts you closer to where you want to be.

I would boat. I have never had the boat take more than 25 or so minutes. And, honestly, if you at least take it to S/D, you can walk pretty damn quick to Epcot. It's just getting into the resort circle that will take longer.

I think this is a fantastic option if there is a boat at or very close to DHS upon exiting. Otherwise, I still think you'd beat the boat by walking. I really think with an hour, you'd be fine walking. You won't be able to "stop and smell the roses" so to speak, but you won't have to run, either.

We routinely walk from DHS to Boardwalk, Beach Club, and sometimes all the way through to Epcot. If it were me I would think only an hour would be stressful. It's about a 25 min to half hour walk from the DHS gate to the International Gateway for us, but then you might have a line at bag check, and still have the walk all the way over to the Festival Center from there. It sounds like a hot sweaty worry to me. :crazy2:
