Well, she's not dead. They've just signed the execution order.

Do we know if it will be gone by march? or will I be able to squeak another viewing in?![]()
Solid rumors that the hat is coming down in January.
There's never been a Hollywood Studios without the iconic hat.
I wonder what they will now have as the park's icon? They can't use Grauman's theater building any longer. I would think something would have to replace the hat.

The hat was installed in 2001.....
Exactly. Pre-dating Hollywood Studios.
Up to now I haven't read or heard about any future plans for the hat. I thought it would fit in well over at the Fantasmic! theater somehow. I've also read suggestions about putting it near the front entrance or moving it to All-Star Movies Resort. I'd be happy with anyplace except the dump. It may not be the icon for the park but it is iconic and does deserve a place somewhere in the World.
Definitely going into storage during the current removal. It will return to the Studios as part of the expansion. Current thinking has it going into a location that does not presently exist. It may not be the icon for the park but it is iconic and does deserve a place somewhere in the World.
And your point is ?
Its the same park as mgm studios......
The Earful Tower was the icon of the park before the hat was constructed.
Though, the DIS Unplugged team was speculating today that Disney may be able to use the Grauman's theatre image now, with Grauman's having an existing relationship with Turner Classic Movies (TCM) and TCM being the new sponsor of the Great Movie Ride at DHS.
I made my point the first time I posted. There has never been a Hollywood Studios without the iconic hat.
Was there an MGM yes. But MGM is no more.
Yes it's sad that something that was ALWAYS a part of THIS park is going away.
I'm sure the people who loved Toad's missed it, too. As I miss Snow White and will miss the hat.
I always felt calling it 'bah' was crass. So at least *that* acronym can die a miserable death.
. . . . .and going into storage, to return as part of the (now approved and funded) Studios expansion.
That would be interesting. I love TCM. Isn't the Great Movie Ride getting a refurb soon?
