DHS rope drop this AM another end of an era.

Much of FP+ is about scaling back expectations. And that stinks.

True but this one is solely because they changed RD and subject everyone to the opening show, even those who don't give a snowball about Frozen. They took something that wasn't a problem at all, and figured out how to make it one, and a dangerous one at that.

I agree.

What is so frustrating is that after all those years of dealing with the running of the bulls at DHS, they finally got that one RIGHT. And then they went and changed it back. Sigh.

Yup, between the mob mentality at MK and DHS vs. no bonafide insane RD and the ability to get an 8am Bloody Mary, sounds like AK is the most relaxing AM park now. :lol

Hate to say it but Disney isn't gonna change their operating procedure, or add another tier 1 attraction at DHS, so maybe we all need to resign ourselves to the fact that TSMM is a once per vacation attraction at this point. Sad but reality.

Which pretty much defeats its purpose as an interactive attraction...the interacitve/competition aspect entices people to want to ride more than once, but you can't (at WDW. DLR is another matter).

WDW really needs to get on with adding things to DHS to lessen the crowd at TSMM

Has anyone done TSMM at rope drop at 8:00 during EMH with the Frozen opening show? Any chance that it is less crazy than on a typical rope drop morning? (Because that's what I am hoping!!)

Do they allow FP+ to be booked during that 8:00 hour?

Buzzin, you made my day! A morning Bloody Mary while strolling through AK sounds *wonderful*. pixiedust:

Do I understand correctly that you basically have to get through the Frozen show before you can move onto the rides? That seems strange because they could ease the 'running of the bulls' problem if they didn't hold everyone back.

Cheers again. Can not wait, the Asian one sounds wonderful.

This is exactly what is happening now. It used to be they just gradually started letting people in a little early pre-9am and people calmly walked to the ride they wanted to do first. Thanks to people getting scanned/going through turnstiles you never had a huge crowd at once, it was staggered nicely.

Now everyone gains entry in advance, but are all stopped by ropes at the hat to watch the Opening Show, then once it is over the ropes are dropped and it becomes a free for all to get to TSMM, if you are not there within the first 100 or so people, your wait time will be a half hour. If you are not within the first 200, you're looking at an hour....by 9:05am.

Wow. It seems so counterproductive to actually cause a problem like this.

They need to start serving those Bloody Mary's in DHS. ;)

I wanted to be at RD for JTA, does this procedure mean I need to change my strategy. I was basically going to follow Kenny the Pirates advice. We are going the last day of the Frozen Frenzy on Sept 28th. I have the Frozrm Premiere Package booked but now thinking I might give it up. $180 for basically a dessert party is a bit much for a family of 4 (even if it includes booze).
