DHS New Years Eve Question

We are spending our 7th Christmas / New Years at WDW. We love the holidays at Disney. We also travel to WDW every Easter week so crowds are not an issue. We are VERY comfortable at WDW during the holidays. In 10 years at WDW on holidays we have never personally experienced a park closure.

Other details (so we won't hit a closure until phase 4)-
1. We always stay onsite
2. We are DVC
3. We are premium annual pass holder

My Question - We have never gone to DHS on New Years eve - we would like to this year and I already have FP+ scheduled. We have always gone to Epcot, MK, and DTD. Are there typically park closures at DHS? If so what time? What is the latest time we can expect to get in (please don't exaggerate - I know it is crowded).

We have three children that need to rest during the afternoon in order to make it past midnight so "arrive super early" is not enough.

Kinda hated it a few years ago.

Stood on main near the fountain like sardines with a tiny taped walkway for everyone. Fireworks were blocked by the trees etc-seemed really low to the ground behind the buildings-they were kinda in "that direction" over there.

Maybe stay closer to the front entrance if you go?

I think we arrived late afternoon with no issues-but always new we could head back and get into EPCOT if full.

Will never do DHS again, EPCOT was way better and at least you could move a bit easier-but crummier FP+ selections of course.

If I were sitting on good NYE DHS FP+ selections-I would stay with that and just not expect as great of fireworks, hit MK the night before and sleep in.
