I was in the park the other day. Outside of Catastrophe Canyon and the theater not much construction is going on. Much of the back lot still seems to be untouched. The only thing of interest was two men in Muppet Courtyard taking notes. They were pointing and measuring lighting fixtures so maybe they were contractors of some sort.

Well I think a lot of the construction will be out of sight in that park. Plus, proper site prep takes time and often looks like nothing is really happening.

Active construction doesn't officially begin until tomorrow (4/3)
Im not sure how much will be visible from the park, but notice was sent out about it so I assume there will be the potential to see progress.

Considering that the area behind TSMM was told to clear out months before the D23 announcement (but it took almost till december for them to actually move.) Looking from LMA you can see almost nothing has been done back there, no evidence of the trailers or trees being moved in an area that would be extremely easy for them to do so without park guests noticing. I'm beginning to wonder if they are dragging their heels on purpose.

I would say there is more visible construction going on right now then there is non visible. The new meet and greet next to Sounds Dangerous (I was hearing them cut metal all day while in the park), the demo of the theater and canyon, and the collections of construction walls around the park. Yet I haven't seen any work on the altered entrance or area around the parking lot, which I expected to be the phase 1 stuff. I went back to look at the water district permit after someone brought up the star wars in the parking lot prediction in the Muppet's courtyard thread. Next time I go I'm going to have to drive in through the South Entrance to see if the construction entrances have been set up yet.

That is true but they have cleared out those buildings back there. No really demo though.

What, Disney? Surely not!!!

I think we can just assume that they won't go as fast as fans would like. They haven't even given much of a timeline so the only pressure on them would be if park attendance sags.

The SFWMD permit for the construction entrance and new drainage pond was modified back on March 15th and is still waiting for approval. There isn't much they can do on that part of the project until that permit get's approved. The current rumor about SWL is that it will go in the front of the park out into the cast parking lot. There really isn't anything stopping them from starting on that work at any time.

Curious where they will move the mermaid statue (currently located back by where the Monsters Inc meet and greet was). Hopefully somewhere else in the park.

Also wondering where all of the Backlot vehicles you see on the trolley portion will end up and if that Coca Cola stand with the fun water feature will get relocated.

Coca Cola stand was already behind dismantled I believe. I doubt that gets moved.

Couple things... the artwork clearly shows that Star Wars land will be next to Toy Story Land.. so looks like Indiana Jones is sticking around? Also, and maybe this has been discussed before so forgive me if so, but.... Will Midway Mania entrance be moved to the other side of the building to TS land? If so, what will happen to Pixar Place? Will that street be closed?
