DHS and park hopping

We are planning a last minute trip for March 6-14. Three days ago all parks are open and now only the 6th & 7th are open for DHS. I am hopefully going to snag the 7th for us, but MK and DHS were going to be our two main parks for this trip. If we have park hopper, can we still get in after 2pm if others have left for the day? I assume park hopping to DHS would totally rule out getting on ROTR for the day, correct? (still not 100% on how reservations for ROTR work).

As the others have noted, getting a boarding group for RoTR will not be possible. You must have a DHS park reservation for that day.

But hopping to DHS after 2:00 should be.

There has not yet been a day that any park has been at capacity for park hopping. That includes several days that regular park reservations were full.

I have called Disney's "Hopping Hotline" at different times on several days since the beginning of the year, and as subtchr noted, hopping was available at every park. Of course that may change during Spring break or as capacity is increased.

No, a hotel concierge cannot get you a boarding group.

So if I'm reading this right, paying $1,100 per night at GF and paying $440 for park tickets to DHS and waking up at 7am doesn't guarantee my family that we'll ride ROTR.

I can understand being told there is a long wait, but being told "no", that's hard to comprehend.

That is correct and is how it's been since the ride opened (well, timing has changed, but not the premise)

That is correct. It’s whoever’s devices are fastest.

I’m a local. But we’ve stayed at Disney twice since reopening. The one stay we booked 4 days at DHS. We got to ride RotR once. The first day I was able to get a boarding group and ride. Another day, I was able to get a boarding group, but the attraction was broken down the whole day. Another day, I wasn’t able to get a boarding group. The last day we changed park reservations to another park.

It could be worse, you used to have to be in the park right at open to get a boarding group. And pre-pandemic, that sometimes meant being awake and in the park before dawn, crammed into a shoulder-to-shoulder crowd, hoping, with no guarantee, to get a BG. I’m happy I can do it from my hotel room now.

True, you can't park hop to Studios and get into a boarding group, but it's still worth it. Yesterday we hopped Epcot to Studios at about 5:15pm, rode Midway Mania (posted 20 minutes, waited 8) and Runaway Railway (posted 55 minutes, waited 20). Spent some time soaking in Black Spire ambience, shopped a bit, and left about 6:45 (park closed at 7). We walked back to Boardwalk, but could have gotten on the next boat, and Skyiner line looked like less than 5 minutes.

I'm so glad to hear that as we really want at least 3 days at DHS. We are staying at POP, so getting to DHS should be easy and we get going later than others, so not getting there until 2pm is fine. If I have a reservation for another park, do we *have to* go to that park first before we hop? If so, can we "park hop" after 2pm without having reservations for another park first?

Yes, we still plan to go as many days as we can because of Star Wars Land and Toy Story Land, so we will hop there if it is not full. My 13-yr old son is a huge SW fan and *really* wants to ride ROTR since we haven't rode it yet (DHS was blocked out for us the last time we went in Dec 2019-Jan 2020), so I am going to get the 7th and hope we get a pass.

OK, Epcot seems to be pretty open, so I guess we can reserve and tap in there first and then walk to DHS.

Even staying club level when you could pay for extra fastpasses you weren’t entitled to a boarding group.

Also you do know you can’t park hop At 2PM to DHS and get a boarding group. They release at 7am and 1pm

Call 407-560-5000 to get a pre-recorded message to see if you can hop to all of the parks or one or more has reached capacity and you have to go somewhere else.
