Both of these look great! Is one better than the other? Or is it worth it to do both? The kids would probably think sitting in a car to eat is much cooler, but I think the 50's cafe looks so neat! Any tips?

I haven't done both yet, so I can't compare. But we love 50's Prime Time because we like the food and the atmosphere. Been there several times and going back next month. From what I've heard of Sci-Fi, the atmosphere is cool but the food is just so-so. Just what I've heard. YMMV.

Two TOTALLY different experiences! 50's is REALLY cool with good comfort food--pot roast, meat loaf, fried chicken. Servers REALLY get into character (usually). We've never been disappointed!! Lots and Lots of fun!!

Sci Fi is like you're at a drive in, watching those awesome movies. Sometimes you get a car, sometimes you don't. Food is more burgers and fries with wonderful shakes.

Both are fun--some wouldn't miss either. We always choose 50's because we love the food!!

If you can do both you should. The atmosphere in the Sci Fi is really cool. Your kids will definately get a kick out of eating in the cars and watching clips from old scifi shows. The food was ok.
The 50s Prime Time is one of our favorites. Great decor. The servers are great- they act like members of your family. Very funny.
The food is pretty good too. (get the peanut butter and jelly shake yum).
If you only could do one, do 50s PT.

Hubby and I have been to both and we both like 50's PTC better. We have an ADR there for our upcoming trip and neither of us have a desire to go back to Sci-Fi during this trip or any future trips. Neither of us are into Sci-Fi and just thought it was ok. The cars were cramped and the food was mediocre to us.

This past summer we went to PTC and hated it. Our server was not in character at all (despite attempts on our part to get him into it). The food was fine, but we went there for the experience which we didn't get. The year before we went to Sci-Fi and loved it. We found the food great and the meal was actually quiet with our kids (who are NOT quiet!) since it was such a treat for them to watch the movie trailers while eating. We'll likely go back there this summer.

We had the same issue. We went last year for the first time and our server was not in character. To add to that I didn't think the food was anything special so I doubt I would go back. Can't comment on SciFi since I have never eaten there.

We have tried both and the kids definitely prefer Sci-Fi. We have always gotten a car - there are a few tables in the back but my guess is that if you get one of those you could ask to wait for a car. We thought the atmosphere at 50's was cool but we didn't get a TV at our table and our server was not really in character. The group next to us had a great server and it looked like they were having a great time. So, I really think it depends on the server. That said, we are heading back over spring break and have both on our lists. If we had to drop one, it would be 50's.

We went to 50's PT during both our trips and to Sci Fi during our second trip. My DD 9 has asked to go back to 50's.:thumbsup2 She loves that our Cousin (the server) makes her dad eat all his veggies before he gets his dessert!:rotfl2:

We all liked both, but 50's is our favorite, but we had great servers both visits.

Same here; we finally tried 50's PT and our server was not in character AT ALL. Soooo disappointing, although the food was pretty good. The atmosphere at Sci-Fi is very unique, but the food to us was blech. Twice.

Sci Fi is good for the experience, however thats it we did not care for the food, its really dark as well. Also depending on how many people in your group( we had 3) we had to share a car with another family which wasnt a nice way to eat dinner. 50's atmosphere is really cool and the food as well. I love the fried chicken and smores!!

I had heard the that 50 PTC didn't have servers in character any more, but it sounds like it's hit-or-miss. Has anyone had an "in character" server in the past few months, or are people reporting on older visits?

I liked 50's PTC's food better, but Sci-Fi's atmosphere better :) The food at Sci-Fi was just okay, while I really enjoyed my sampler from PTC! So... try both and then you'll know your family's favorite for future trips :goodvibes

I thought Sci-Fi was AWFUL. Would never go back or recommend it. Bland food covered in salt, blood-curdling screams from old movie clips...It just sucked all the way around.

We've been to both also and we prefer 50's Prime Time. Sci-fi is fun and different if you've never been, but IMO not worth doing again. The food was kind of expensive for what it was, very mediocre but the atmosphere was cool, especially for kids who've never experienced a drive in.

50's Prime Time was a hoot!! Food was very of the home cooking type like fried chicken, meat loaf and mashed potatoes, etc. The waitress and staff made it special though. She had the "mom" look down pat! Gave us the eye when my friend and I (both in our late 30's at the time) asked for coffees and asked what time we got in! Told us "you young people live like there's no tomorrow" and basically scolded us. Our kids got such a kick out of their mom's being scolded!! And they had the cousin who would run and tell on us if we didn't clean our plates! A lot of fun!!! :thumbsup2

I was there the first week of January and our server was not in character, but the others in out section were, so it was fine. They were doing airplanes, "going fishing", made a girl stand in the corner for chewing gum, tried to set up a little girl at one table with a little boy at another, etc. However, we had our elbows on the table the whole time and nothing! But I would go again just for the chicken.

We went beginning of January and a great server. He was uncle something .dang I cant remember! He was great. Seemed as if he must be the drunk uncle because he kept commenting on my husbands beer. He also called my daughter's boyfriend 'slick' - He was good

Our visit was one year ago this month. And our server was not in character at all, unfortunately. Unless she was playing the part of a server at a Denny's or something.

We went for the first time almost two weeks ago and our server was in character.

I enjoyed the food too... everything looked good. Wish we could go back.

We tried Sci fi for our last trip and I wouldn't do it again this time. It was fun and different, but the movies were weird to me, and my girls didn't really like them. Also the darkness of the restaurant makes trying to enjoy the food difficult. Kind of a sensory thing for me. So food just ok.
Overall it was a neat experience, but I would try 50's.
DH says he loved it though:confused3
