Here's the story: DH and I are headed down to NYC for the weekend. I had my mom drop me off at work, in Hartford, so that I wouldn't have my vehicle here, and DH could pick me up late this afternoon, and we would head down to catch the train from New Haven into the city.
Last night I said to DH, okay, we need to get everything ready tonight, since we are leaving straight from my work. DD is spending the weekend with my parents, which meant I had to get all of her stuff ready to gice to my Mom this morning. DH's reaction last night was like "Why, what do I have to do tonight?" I said we needed to get stuff packed. He said he didn't have a lot scheduled today (he's self-employed), so he would have plenty of time to do it today. Besides, he had to do a load of wash before he could pack. Fine, then while I get my stuff & DD's stuff packed, you can get the dished & stuff in the kitchen cleaned up so it doesn't sit there until Sunday. Nope - I'll have time to do it all tomorrow.
Well, as you've probably guessed by now, his day did not go as planned. He had some problems at the first of the two "easy jobs" he had lined up, and never even had time to get to the second - he had to reschedule it for another day. I called him at 3:00, figuring he'd be gteeing ready to head out to pick me up shortly. He was "running around like a chicken with its head cut off" (his words). He had to finish up a couple of errands, and then still had to go home & pack and finish the dishes. He just called, and he JUST LEFT to come get me, and it's 5:00!!! And we live about 30 - 35 miles away from where I work, plus it's rush hour, so he'll probably be here around 6:00!
I'm trying to let it go - I don't want to start off our weekend getaway with both of us in a lousy mood, but what I really want to do when he gets here is say "I TOLD YOU SO! I said we needed to get things ready last night, didn't I?!?!"
Okay, I feel better now. Thanks.
