Well it's official! We OWN a house together!!! Dh deployed last month to Iraq and I closed on our new house. We bought a duplex 3 bedrooms & 2 full baths on each side. Ceramic tile in bathrooms & kitchen, carpet everywhere else, and a 1 car garage for each side. My mother is moving from NY to stay here for the year while DH is deployed. If she likes it she will stay, if not she will move back. DH & I were married in Disney back in May. We weren't expecting him to be deployed so soon (he just got back from a 1 year tour in S. Korea in Feb) so we took our time to have a house built. I took some pics the other day. We now have sod though. The movers come Mon!!!!

It's a great feeling owning a house but I wish he was here to enjoy it. This year long deployment is feeling like forever!

Mark another day off your calendar, this one is almost done and you are one more day closer to him coming home. Just think now you can decorate however you like AND in the process of moving accidentally loose all the clothes he has you don't like or just a few and any ugly things he has. I hate when the little knomes took away Matt's tshirts that had holes in them or his ugly drawers that I think he got when he joined the army. It broke my heart to have to go buy new stuff.

Ha ha Tina! I did just that. He had so many tshirts that said ARMY I thought I was gonna scream! I cleaned his closet out and some of those jeans and shirts whoops fell in the garbage!!

He finally got to call me and it makes me feel better to know he is okay and in a somewhat safe place.

Thank you everybody for your well wishes....this made my whole week so much brighter!!!! It had been a rough few weeks but its getting better day by day.

I was excited over brick, spackle & paint, walls! It's so funny. It's neat to see it progress over the months. And then it "all yours"!

I hear ya!! When we built our house back in 2003, I cried when I saw the bannister on the staircase! I had always wanted a bannister like it...used to try to get my ex-husband to knock out the wall from the staircase and put a wooden one in but he wouldn't do it. When my husband and I decided to build a 2 story house, I told him the bannister HAD to be in the house. The day we went to check out what progress had been made and I saw my bannister...I actually CRIED...lol
