Thanks to the power of prayer and positive thinking, the Marine Corps is returning my DH in plenty of time for our Disney trip! HOORAY!!:Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

Now, my question for you fine DVC folks is: MIL has promised to watch the kids for us for one evening. What to do? (Not that! ;) The two bedroom is not THAT big, even in OKW :p ) Some folks from General Disney chat on Tuesday suggested V&A or a picnic on the beach at the GF. I am open to any other ideas to make the occasion special! You guys always have the best ideas!

I am so happy for you. I read your post before and I was always wondering how things are going.

I don't have any suggestions for you since our kids are always with us at WDW. But I just wanted to tell you how happy I am for you.:D

That is SO wonderful!!

How about California Grill for dinner? Then enjoy the overlook afterwards - to enjoy a view of the MK at night. Maybe you could try to time it with the fireworks, but those ressies book pretty far in advance.

Whatever you do - have a wonderful trip!

I am so happy for you!!!!!! That is wonderful!!! Your family must be so excited!!!! :)

You could go and have dinner, maybe somewhere you have never been or somewhere a little romantic.....Jiko, California Grill, Artist Point, Narcoosees, Flying Fish etc....then maybe go dancing or to the comedy club at PI. You could also take a walk around the Boardwalk area....so nice at night...have a ice cream cone and walk hand in hand....simple but nice things to do together!

Whatever you do will be wonderful!!!!!

Thanks to your dh for fighting for us........we are so grateful to him and your whole family for their sacrifice!

Kamy

That is great news!!! I think I speak for many here when I say we sure are proud of our troops!

As far as something to do.... Well, you already shot down my idea.
Anyway, I think a quiet dinner at your favorite restaurant is a good idea. Many other activities are great, but they are not as personal and 'one on one' as a nice dinner can be.

Good luck......

Thank goodness!!!

Have a wonderful time...whatever you do.

The most heartfelt "Welcome Home" to your husband and all of the brave men and women who fight to keep us free and safe.

I am so happy for you! I have thought about you many times, and wondered how things were going.

I like the California Grill idea and then watch the fireworks.

...and THANK him for us!

I will third (or fourth or fifth) the California Grill Idea. Get a reservation for about 1 hour or 45 minutes before sundown. Let them know it is a special occassion and request a table for 2 next to the window on the west side of the restaurant....

...Watching the sun go down over WDW from the 15th floor is beautiful, only to be followed by the majesty of the lighting of Cinderella's castle and the rest of the Magic Kingdom (it feels like you are suspended over the kingdom in mid air).

Oh, the food is also about the best you'll find on property (save possibly V&A's)....

...I would probably also throw in a round of mini-golf at One of the two great mini-golf places on property or (if your budget allows) a trip over to DTD to see Cirque Di Soleil, which is truly fabulous.

Have a great and magical trip!! :)

SEMPER FI!!! Glad to hear the good news!!!

Thank you for the well wishes and the great ideas. Cali Grill has always been one of our personal favorites. I didn't know if I should go back to it or try something new to celebrate. Keep the awesome ideas coming! I will be happy to pass on the words of thanks.

Thank you all for keeping me sane while he has been away!

OH BOY!!!!!!!!

I don't remember a thread that ever brought such a big smile! :teeth: :teeth: :teeth:

I am so happy for you! :bounce: :Pinkbounc :bounce: :Pinkbounc

I'll have to give a romantic night some thought. It's been such a loooong time. ;)

Happy to hear the great news! We thank him, your family and all the men, women and families who made sacrifices over the past few months to protect our country.

Victoria and Alberts is a very romantic spot, with wonderful gourmet food. Very calm, relaxing and a great place to spend some quality time together. Service is supurb!

We also love the Flying Fish. Maybe call and see if by chance an illuminations cruise is available..a great way to see the epcot fireworks and take a spin around the lake. There is a 150's woody boat that they take out too..that's just right for a romantic spin around the lake, illuminations etc. Even if you don't do the illuminations cruise, perhaps go on a cruise for two around one of the lakes..they have lots of different offerings, including firework cruises on bay lake to see the fireworks at the MK. Have dinner before/after the cruise. Take a stroll around the boardwalk.

What ever you decide...have a wonderful time!!

God Bless!

booking an Illuminations cruise for just the the 2 of you. Have Disney supply champagne and chocolate covered strawberries or other misc desserts for on the boat. Go over to the piano bar located at the Boardwalk, or spend the night just walking around holding hands.
Whatever you do, I hope you have a marvelous trip..........

and tell your husband " Thank You " from all of us !!!

A Million thanks to your husband from a greatful country.

My vote CG or try this on for size.
OKW has a great big tub, send your kids and MIL out for dinner and the two of you have a nice quite time all alone. I am sure you can get some real nice food sent in, open a bottle of your favorite wine and enjoy !!!!!!
