WOW!

I'm so happy! Before Ross started to lose weight (when he was 215 pounds!) his snoring would either make it hard for me to fall asleep or just wake me up every night. Some nights it seemed like I had to keep poking him over and over to get him to shift around so he wouldn't snore (poor guy!) I noticed when he hit about 205 that his snoring had changed from a loud muffler/motorcyle noise to a soft hum with a whistle, more like heavy breathing. Now that he's under 200 I hardly know he's in the bed!

It's amazing! He's gone from about 240 to 197 since 1999. He moved to Florida in Jan. 1999 and I stayed in Maryland to sell our house. While he lived on his own he ate huge bowls of pasta with mayo and tuna for dinner, subs for lunch, bologna sandwiches for breakfast, etc. Hardly any veggies and tons of carbs. I was surprised at how much he had gained in a few months on his own. He lost some weight when I moved down and got to about 233 and didn't lose much more. After a visit to the Dr. he was told he had borderline high blood pressure, so he needed to lose at least 30 pounds. He didn't change his eating habits, just started to play racquetball every day at lunch, or do the stair climber or use the treadmill. He also lifted weights ONE day a week. He lost 18 pounds in a year and a half an then his weight loss stalled.

So he was an even 215 when he started WW back in April and he got to about 200-202 and stayed there for 3-4 weeks. I reached my weight loss goal and decided to change my eating plan to encourage muscle growth and (hopefully!) reduce body fat. He is on the same eating plan as I am now (since I cook all the meals!) and he has upped his weight training to twice a week. So since the start of July he's lost about 5 pounds, but his pants are all way too baggy on him. He has one pair that fits (34s) and a pair of 34 shorts, but everything else is a size 36 and just looks horrible! ;) He won't buy new pants because he wants to get into a 32 first! It's a sight to see my cute guy wearing such baggy trousers.

Anyway, just had to brag and share my good news about the snoring! Also, his BP is closer to normal than borderline high now, phew!

Karen- That is awesome!!!! Please congratulate Ross for us!!! :)

I am glad you bragged on Ross...too often we forget to brag on our wonderful husbands! :)

And the fact that he stopped snoring....priceless! ;)

Can't wait to meet both of you!

you know...i've noticed this about my DH too!! when he and i had first gotten together in 2001, i didn't notice more than a heavy breathing when he was asleep. but as he gained weight, the breathing became heavier and heavier until it was a loud obnoxious snore! it drove me insane!!! i had to sleep with a fan on just for the noise to drown him out!!

he and i started atkins a few weeks ago...he's dropped about 13 pounds or so and now that he's back under 200, i've just realized that the snoring has all but stopped!! i haven't had to poke at him to make him stop for about a week now!!

and his pants too, are pretty baggy! he can't quite get back into some of his pants just yet, but he's almost there!

Karen, that is great news about Ross!!! As the DW of another snorer, I sympathize with you and only earplugs have saved our marriage!!!! :p

Glad to hear he is doing ok and I will be sure to tell Jim about this. He is walking the WATP with me and has lost 10 lbs, but still needs to lose another 15 at least and maybe he will stop snoring too!!!! There's a goal for him!! Well I will make it a goal!! ;)

Hugs to you both!
CC

Wow, Karen - that's great! Now that you mention it, I haven't noticed my dh snoring lately either. He has lost about 30 pounds - I bet that's why! I should go and kiss him for it!

(See what a good influence you are on us?! :p )

Karen!!
Y'all are doing AWESOME!!! And you just made me realize that my dh has stopped snoring TOO!!! He weighed 218 last month and weighs 194 now- and I haven't even realized I haven't heard the snoring!!! :) Since I've been walking so much I'm asleep in 3-5 minutes when my bed hits the pillow so I just assumed he was still snoring- but last night I had a hard time getting to sleep and he NEVER snored!! I used to have to knee him in the tush to get him to roll over and stop- he'll be sooo pleased to hear that!
I can't tell you what an impact having you guys around has been- Louie (dh) has never been so motivated to lose weight and has stuck faithfully to Atkins and is seeing the results. I think it's just AWESOME that WISH has had this impact on families and truly inspiring us to GET healthy and STAY healthy. Seeing you at Goal and your dh near it- makes it so wonderful to make the journey knowing what's at the end of the road for us! I'm gonna have to borrow that halter top when I get in the 130's!! :)
Thanks for sharing and I'm sure the extra sleep you get will make you more energetic for those great workouts!
Tara

Wow, what a great side effect!

Unfortunately, I don't think anything will stop my DH's nightly "serenades" - good thing he's so lovable! ;)

Congratulations to both of you for your big changes! It's amazing, all the unexpected good things that happen when we take better care of ourselves!!!

Daisy;)

Karen, keep bragging for him, I would love for my DW to bragg the same way. Great job to Ross!!!!!

One question.....

You've got a sexy husband who now weighs less than 200 pounds in your bed and a new size 6 body of your own, and You don't even KNOW HE'S IN THE BED SOMETIMES?

What is WRONG with you two???????

LOL Annie! You're right she should really be noticing him now, & from the pictures I've seen he should really be noticing her! :earseek:

Seriously, Karen, that's great news, both for you & Ross, & also for all the others whose DH's have stopped snoring. :teeth:

Thanks for all the great responses! You guys are THE BEST! I don't know if I should alert Ross to this thread or not, especially after reading Annie's comment, ha ha ha! ;)

Isn't it funny that so many of us had snoring husbands! I guess when the snoring goes away you just don't really notice it, but one night it dawned on me (I was awake thanks to a purring cat!) that he was just sleeping so quietly! ;)

Wow Karen,

That is so awesome. Good for him, I bet he feels so great now!

Hi Karen!

Congratulations to Ross on the weight loss, that is so awesome! I know he must be feeling like a brand new person! And no more snoring.....you must be in heaven!!!! It is amazing what happens to our body when we treat them right and get them into shape. Keep purring girl and enjoy your hubby!! You guys have done an amazing job on your healthy journey!!

You know, I hadn't thought about it but DH lost about 25 lbs on Atkins a few months ago and he hasn't been snoring! Now, if he would just stop stealing the covers and laughing in his sleep! I am so glad you brought this up! I am gonna have to give him a hug.

Glad the snoring has stopped at your house too!

Karen -

You and your husband are amazing with both of you loosing weight and maintaining a healthy lifestyle! I think that is so great about the snoring! I couldn't sleeping thru that - I have a fit when my DH has a cold and snores!:p

I am even happier for you guys about how it has lower his BP to a more normal level. I think that becoming a healthier person is one of the most important parts of loosing all this weight!

How great for the two of you! Keep it up!

Karen-

I'm glad to hear that is a possible side effect of losing weight. DH has the snoring problem also. I usually try to go to bed before him so that I'm asleep before he comes to bed. When I have to get up to go to the potty in the middle of the night, there are so many times that I have had to move to the couch to finish out the night.

I'm so proud of you and Ross and know that you both will continue to see the results that you are looking for.

Have a great weekend!
Tammy
