DH had a 10 a.m. interview this morning. He was told it was just with two different people. I cant believe that he's still there. He went to college with one of the interviewers so maybe they went to lunch? I'm dying to know how it went. It's a great opportunity for him - less stress, better benefits, lot more pay. Would require a move though since it's 2 hours away. He's in a profession that is not doing so well (AND he is so miserable and unhappy) and this opportunity is very stable.

Neither one of us is sure what we'll do if he gets it. I have a great job and we like where we live. Both sets of grandparents are nearby. BUT I have a somewhat flexible career (Admin/PR/Marketing) and he does NOT. If he lost his job that he has now there are no opportunities here. Many in his field have been laid off and the new opportunities are few. The new town is closer to my hometown and to my DS's cousins. My Dad lives there and my Mom and stepdad plan to retire there. The biggest issue is selling our house - things arent moving much right now. With the pay increase he could rent an apt. while I stayed here to deal with the house.

I just dont know what I want to happen!!!!

The reason I asked is because we have some friends in your area that have been laid off from engineering jobs. I was hoping to offer some advice if that was your DH's profession.

Good luck to your DH! Long interviews are a good sign.:thumbsup2 Hope it all works out for you guys. :goodvibes

A long interview is usually a good thing. Good luck!

I hope he gets it! :thumbsup2

It makes me sad that his profession is hurting. I love newspapers & sports. My day isn't complete until I've read the paper from cover to cover. I usually start at the back page, LOL, especially when my team won the day before.

1:20....still no word.....:confused3

And believe me - my DH calls me a million times a day about everything. No secrets with him. So he WILL call when he can.

Not print - this would be internet.

Just tried to call him at 1:45 and he didnt answer.

Good luck to him!

When I saw your location I thought I knew the company, and I was going to say "if it's Cisco, that's a good sign to have a LONG interview", but then I saw the later posts.

Don't you hate when they go "out of pocket" (to quote Mission Impossible for being "missing") like that during interviews? Maddening! :upsidedow

The newspaper is a dying breed, I would take whatever job in his field he can get, you can work out the logistics later. My spouse also works in this field, but due to lack of employment opportunity he lives and works in the Middle East. When the International Herald came calling, he jumped at the opportunity, who cares where the job is, when can I start was my husbands response!! off he went, he does worry because they are letting staff go around the world because everything is online now, no real need for extensive staff.

My son is with an internet sports site in San Francisco and I'm amazed at how well they're doing.

I am sure that a long interview is a good sign.

Hang in there!

Have you heard yet? Wishing him good luck! :)

Looong interviews ARE a good sign. Please let us know when you here something and good luck (on both the interview and deciding what to do)

He's out (2:20 p.m.).

It went very well. They gave him the HR phone number to talk benefits. They took him to lunch. He really thinks they want him. They said they'd want the person to start July 12 and then at the end of the month he'd go to training camp for 3 weeks. They all have lots of kids and really stressed how important families are for them. Most of the wives dont work either :cool1:

He's expecting a possible phone call tomorrow. Holy crud. What are we going to do???????

Seven years ago I was in your situation. DH got a job in DC in June and we were all moved by the end of August. In my case (and only in my case because of personal reasons) looking back, it was a huge mistake. Think about this long and hard. Good luck.

DH got the offer today. He has to let them know by Monday. EVERYONE thinks he should take it but he's really trying to explore every aspect of it.

The benefits are great - especially the insurance.....

Oh my goodness, sounds like a godsend to MY ears! I would give anything to be able to be a housewife for a change; the majority of my life I've been the breadwinner, and I want a garden and a clean house and a spot on the PTA! ;) Your husband is very smart to be looking at this from all angles before making the commitment!

Let us know how it goes!
