DH doesn't understand all my happy tears

I'm so happy to find some understanding here!

DH and I are going to WDW in February, the week of my 36th birthday. It will be my first time there in 20 years, and his first return in about 25 years. We were both teens the last time we went.

We've been married for 12 years this month, and I've been pesting him for a Disney trip ever since. Finally, last Christmas, he surprised me with a Mickey ornament and a TomTom (we'll be driving to the World) and told me to start planning.

Ever since, I can't stop crying. I cried at the gift, at the CM who told me to "have a magical day" when I finally made our reservations, at the "Your Story" book and park maps I got in the mail, at the Disney World shows I see on the Travel Channel, and at the thought of celebrating my birthday there. And I cried when I saw the photos of Tony's Town Square and the Lady and the Tramp theme, one of my favorite Disney movies (we'll be dining there).

Every time I talk to my husband about our trip, I get choked up and bawl like a baby. He just smiles and shakes his head, and says, "You're not gonna cry in the park, are you?"

Oh yes I am. The fireworks will put me over the edge!

Please help me assure him that I won't be the only grown woman crying for joy at Walt Disney World.

You are NOT the only one! I choke up at the opening show at MK, Wishes, parades... heck, even the Disney commercials on TV!

I know exactly how you feel. I began planning our first trip Nov. 2010 and we went this past March. I had not been to WDW in 27 years . My DH and DS's had never been, so it was exciting for all of us. I cried at the following times: when I booked our vacation, when I paid the final payment, the night before we left (had to do it secretly because it was a surprise for our kids), when we finally told our kids, when I saw Cinderella's castle, at the Wishes fireworks, etc.... Yet, through it all, it was so worth the memories. Now I am planning another surprise vacation for next November!!

Have a great time and cry all you want....they will be tears of Joy!!

I only have 14 days left. I am surprising DS5 with a trip for Thanksgiving. I have been crying for months! lol I walked into the Disney store on Sunday and they had the Christmas pjs out... I started balling in the store!

I wanted so badly to just grab his shoulders and tell him we were going to WDW!

I am crying right there with you sista!

I cry when we get through the gates at the TTC on our first day and have to choose between the Monorail and the Boat. Going through those gates is like coming home. I'm always fine checking in at the hotel and going to DTD beforehand though!!

Hahaha! I totally get you! It was my first trip in 24yrs (obviously I went waaaaay before I was born ) and it was my DH FIRST EVER TRIP!!!

Booking our trip was so magical, the anticipation and excitement leading up to it ... the doubt of 'what if hubby doesn't think its that great' ... the travelling down .. then FINALLY getting there. It was everything I expected and as we were travelling home DH told me to get booking the next trip

So excited for you and yes, you won't be the only grown woman (or man) crying for joy

Of course you're not alone! I cry when I see the videos of the 'talking' Mickey. I teared up when 'Grim Grinning Ghosts' was the hold music while we booked our package. I'm going to cry when my sister gets to meet him for the first time in 15 years.

To paraphrase lyrics of Lesley Gore --- It'll be your birthday and you'll cry if you want to!!!

I completely understand. I am the same way! I cry at the commercials, when I see specials on Disney World or Wishes on youtube, I cried after I booked this recent trip, I cry when I see the Welcome to Disney World sign, when we get to our rooms, when we get to the park, at the parades and Wishes, when I see magical moments especially when they involve children and I cry on the magical express when we are leaving. I am an emotional wreck lol. Thankfully, I have learned a little trick and usually put on my sunglasses when the waterworks start. WDW is my favorite place .

LOL I filled up reading this posts! The commercials get me every time, especially the one that says "Because you know it won't be long before she meets her own Prince Charming". I also love watching youtube videos of people surprising their kids with a trip to Disney.

For me, I know I will get emotional just seeing the general sign, then as I actually enter MK, when I see the castle...just a rush of memories and the same feelings from when I was a kid. And the fireworks of course.

I've always loved Cinderella, and always wanted to visit someday with my Prince Charming, which, as you see from my ticker, is about to come true I think that in itself will be enough to get the tears going haha

Forgot to add: I also fill up when I hear that song from the commercials on the radio, "Good Life" or whatever.

My H does not understand either. This is my first trip to WDW ever and it is my childhood dream come true. All my friends and my sister have been there several times and my husband thinks it's just for kids. He cannot understand why I'm so obessed. Of course, I am sooo excited for my 8 yo daughter, who doesn't know about it yet, but I am finally realizing one of my lifelong dreams. I'm sure the minute I see the castle, I will be a wreck!
