Why is it, that when DH gets mad at DD for something, I'm the one that ends up running interference?

He wants her computer and phone privileges taken away for 2 days because her room is a war zone. So, he leaves to go to the chiropractor and I'm here stuck telling her she's grounded and giving the lecture when she gets home from school.

She deserves the punishment, but shouldn't the creator of the punishment be the one to break the news?

I'm going thru this very same thing right now.

Yes - HE should tell her and deal with the tantrum from there.

War zone is an understatement  I'm leaving for work shortly....thank goodness.

Yes. If DH wants to punish, he needs to explain what the punishment is and why she is being punished. You can certainly support the punishment, but he needs to be the one that delivers it, if the "war zone" room situation bothers him that much that he feels it needs punishing.

we call a family meeting and deliver the punishment as a team..that way the kids know it was a joint decision , and won't try to play one parent against the other...makes life musch easier..

That's the best way. Oh, and update - the room is now SPOTLESS. She's lucky, if it wasn't she would probably be looking forward to a very boring weekend.;)
