with VWL!!! :lovestruc

We just got home from our first trip to VWL on feb. 22-25th in a studio on the ground floor, #1543. There are not words to descibe how much we loved VWL. It was fantastic!!!! We like having the "hotel setup" and the amenities that come with such. The DVC pool was perfect for us and and everything was so convenient. We would get a one bedroom next time for the King size bed and the W/D. I did not realize that the laundry facility was way over in the Lodge.:scared1:

Our room was spotless and had good space. We brought pastries to the room for breakfast and ate out the rest of our meals.

DH was at a convention for 2 of our days but I never got bored. I sat on the patio and read for almost a whole day then wondered over to DTD for some shopping. Also went to MK for a couple of hours but it was not as much fun by myself. Loved my lunches from Roaring Forks and we met some fab people by the hottub/pool. Such fun!!

We cant wait to go back and take our 3 children who will be equally smitten. They have all stayed in the Lodge but not in the villas. Those who own at VWL are very lucky members!

Have a magical day!

PS: if you happen to stay in 1543 or the rooms on either side, please be mindful of the precious mommy duck who is sitting on her nest of 8 eggs next to the patio. it was amazing to watch her each day and the babies should be close to arriving. I was so sad that they did not hatch while we were there as she was the cutest thing!

the laundry is at the villa - a couple of doors just past the elevators.

sorry you didn't know.

glad you love VWL - it is a beautiful and peacefully place. join the VWL lovers.

Thanks spiceycat. I did not know that it was there. I even called the front desk, got a little map thing (its not listed on there), and asked the housekeeper in the hallway! I get an "A" for effort! The housekeeper did give me 4 extra towels so we were in good shape but I sure wish that i had known about that W/D room, I like to come home with all the clothes washed.

Thanks again!

Isn't it a wonderful place! Thats why we just closed on a VWL contract. We haven't even stayed there, yet we knew this had to be HOME

This happen to me too. I called the front desk and the women insisted that the villas had no laundry facilities that I needed to come to the main lodge and spend the $ for laundry. I asked why is it that BCV has a laundry room and not VWL. She then got snippy (actually I ran into a couple of snippy CM at the lodge) put me on hold, came back on and told me I was wrong. I was floored. I went out (we were on the 1st floor) went down the hall and there was a map of the villas and right there it showed laundry room. It was actually right down the hall from my room. Why don't the CM at the front desk know this??? :confused3 Is it because they don't want the renters to get free laundry time?

I am so sorry that you had a snippy CM! I should have walked around to look for a laundry room b/c it just seemed so odd that there would not be one available.

Anyway, I now know where it is and will make good use of it if DH and I were to stay in a studio again. After doing a studio I think that we will be willing to spend the extra points to get a one bedroom on most occassions. The studio was super but I really miss the King bed.

for some reason both the front desk at VWL and AKV - seem to think there are no DVC laundry mats.

think their bosses just haven't trained them - or maybe - DVC is trying to kept these secrets - I mean the AKV laundry mat required a key to open the door.

so that the paying guest won't be able to use them?

Don't forget to check the signs! The sign to the left of the elevators (if you're facing them) indicates that the laundry room and rooms 1501 to 1516 are down the hallway. I know for sure because we were in 1516 and LOVED that the laundry was two doors down!

We did not go near the elevators since we were on the 1st floor in 1543 which is down the hallway to the far right of the elevators. Anyway, I could have looked harder to find them but figured that the front desj guy, the check-in map and the housekeeper must know what they were talking about. I should have known better. ;)

Lesson learned and now I know to check and double check when the info. provided does not make sense. It was still an AWESOME trip and I cant wait to go back as soon as possible. I might even need to check into some VWL resales. I could really see my family starting a tradition of going there for Thanksgiving. Hmmmm.....:thumbsup2
