Deyki's Make-A-Wish - 12/15 - Maybe not

Glad you are back!!! :woohoo: :yay: :dance3::cheer2: :cool1: :yay: :woohoo: :dance3:

So exciting that you guys are leaving soon and hopefully that will take your mind off of everything else!

I will pray for your friends son...sounds like he is having a hard time!

Praying for that little guy! :grouphug: for his family....they must be just scared to bits. Hopefully the doctors will get thing figured out soon and make that sweetie better.

Today has been an incredible day! Thanks for praying for Baby Robert. They did a scope today and found that his adenoids are so enlarged they are cutting off his airway. He doesn't need a trach. All he needs are his adenoids and tonsils removed. He is off the oxygen now and snuggling happily in my friend's arms!

We were all overwhelmed with kindness today as four packages arrived from the Big Give. I have some great pictures, but they are stuck on my camera! I will be looking for the memory card reader soon. Really I will! Life just keeps getting crazier and busier.

I have two new girls bringing the total to 7! They are only here until tomorrow because I simply can't care for 7 children by myself. I can't even fit everyone into the van. But for tonight I have kids ages 16 months, 20 months, 6, 8, 9, 11, and 12. If we make it through breakfast peacefully, I will be thrilled!

Tomorrow afternoon I will be spending time with the 16 month old's mom. She is a teen who is dealing with the very same type of trauma that made me go MIA from the boards for awhile. I am hoping that somehow I can be a support for her. I know it's all totally vague, but your prayers would be valued.

I really ought to get some sleep myself once I throw the new girls' school uniforms in the dryer so they will be clean for the morning! Good night all!

Wow...

what you are doing is awesome!

Thanks for taking care of those kids - and the Mommy's!

Does your laptop already have a card reader? Mine is hidden...sort of on the bottom of the laptop. Most of the newer laptops have them, but they may not fit all cards. Look around for any mostly rectangular slits and see if your card fits. That is the easiest way to upload them.

Also...take your camera, laptop and memory card to the store when you try to buy something. The cheapest thing may be just a cord that goes directly from your camera to the laptop...or maybe a card reader?

It seems like I bought one for a DISer that cost only $13 at Walmart - it was a universal card reader.

What a morning! I made homemade allergy-friendly waffles and scrambled eggs for breakfast and got the two new girls off to school. The laundrey is all caught up after the last load I am about to start. Then I can get packing for our trip. Two loaves of bread are baking. Two toddlers are happily playing with Deyki. Nidra and Chantae are working independently on their schoolwork. I survived the morning with 7 children and will even find time for a shower once the bread is out of the oven!

I will be so very ready for our vacation in just over a week!!

Bless you-You are definitely heaven sent-just what these people need. God values you more than you'll ever know.
I'll keep praying for health and peace and I can't wait to get to meet you guys! Just 10 more days! :woohoo:

Wow! You are such an inspirational mom. I have been praying for you and all of the children in your care. It does sound as if you need a vacation! I know that you will enjoy your trip! :wizard:

I am glad to hear that Baby Robert is doing better.

Wow 7 kids! Sounds like you have everything under control. :thumbsup2 Home Made Bread is so yummy! I make my own bread too, but I use a bread machine. We have a WonderMill and grind our own whole wheat flour.

I hope to see your pictures when you get a chance. I am wondering if the things I sent fit the girls? Did you get my package?

I finally got pictures onto the computer. In the last few minutes of the babies' naps, I will post what I can. Then I must run to the grocery store because I am almost out of food! I don't mind living on carrot sticks and spinach, but it isn't going to work well for the kids! I'll try to get to the rest of the pictures tonight.

This first one is just one I love because it shows how much the kids love each other.

Here is our Beauty and the Beast Family Fun Night.

We have been doing Disney Family Fun Nights each Friday night. Some of the pictures seemed to have vanished for good when Deyki dropped the camera. At least most of them were salvaged! This week we are having a special movie and dinner every night starting on Sunday. We have friends joining us for one or two of the evenings. They will be so very ready when our trip arrives on the first!

More photos to come - hopefully soon - if the babies keep sleeping!

The first day of school came while we were preparing for Disney. Deyki started K this year! I homeschool them all, but he was still very excited to officially be "in school." Each year I get them new outfits for tthe first day of school, and we go somewhere special for breakfast. We talk about our goals for the year and special things to look forward to.

We did Cars forour next Disney Family Fun Night. We had little sandwiches in car shapes, wheel shaped pasta, and stoplight cupcakes. Deyki decorated the table with all his matchbox cars.

For Bambi we had forest greens, berries, and wrap sandwiches. While we watched the movie we enjoyed Forest Fire popcorn - popcorn with red sugar and cinnamon red hot candies. Deyki enjoyed Bambi more than I expected. He kept calling him "Bambo" though, and I'd get a funny picture of a mix of Rambo and a sweet little deer! You'll notice Deyki's cleanly shaven head. This was right after the lice drama! I miss his locks, but he is quite satisfied with his new look now.

Deyki looks so handsome and grown up without his beautiful locks. I am amazed that you can get everything done that you get done. Your movie nights are so creative! :3dglasses

I love the pictures! Your children are so beautiful.

Your trip is getting closer and closer, are you getting excited?:woohoo::yay:

We made it to the grocery store, made our Dumbo circus dinner, and got the babies to bed for the night. Now I can continue our story in pictures.

After the horrid adventure with lice, we took a mini-vacation to a small town a couple hours from Chicago. It was a much needed break. The next pictures are the kids playing at a park and picking berries on our very relaxing extended weekend trip.

The pace of our wish trip will be 100 times faster than this last trip, but I am eager to get there!

Deyki does look so much older without his locks. maybe that's why I miss them so. My baby is growing up!

The movie nights have been a lot of fun to plan. The kids have had fun taking turns planning and cooking with me. They love surprising their siblings.

I love the pictures! Your children are so beautiful.

Yes! Yes! Yes! We are all getting very excited! :yay::yay::yay::yay:

Our next Disney Family Fun Night was The Aristocats. We made crepes with a variety of pudding toppings.

While we were preparing it, Deyki appeared downstairs as "Super Deyki!" He loves to dress up like super heroes. For months on end this past year he wore his Spiderman costume every time he had to go to the hospital for labs. I guess maybe it makes him feel braver.

Here's pirate Deyki. A good friend of mine gave this to him for the trip. It was hanging in her son's closet never worn and just happened to fit Deyki perfectly.

Those kids are adorable! I can't wait to get to meet you all....just over a week. Excitement is running crazy here. Our volunteers will be here on Sunday after church to bring all our paperwork and I can't wait. I think I may well be more excited than the kids...:lmao:
Keep posting pics...we love seeing all of them. (I've got to get mine loaded one of these days soon.. .)
See ya in just over a week!

Deyki told Make-A-Wish that his favorite music is by a Christian family performer named Rob Biagi. He just happened to be coming in concert to our church to kick off Awana this year. We invited Make-A-Wish out to the concert and Rob gave a shout out to them during the show. He shared how his little daughter has been battling cancer and said lots of encouraging words to families that are dealing with life-threatening illness. Deyki got to meet him before the show and interact with him during it. Afterwards he signed the kid's shirts and even signed Nidra's arm. :rotfl: It was a great time!

It will be great to meet you all!! I am kinda freaking out about all I have to get done before we leave. :scared1: Just wish it all could get done on it's own and have the fun begin!

Our first BIG GIVE package arrived just as we were leaving for Awana! :woohoo: It was so exciting for the kids to get a gift from someone they have never met. Thanks Kristine!

I know...I haven't even started packing and I am freakin' out here! :scared1: Really, I'm just worried I'll forget something I can't get at WalMart. :rotfl2: I'm trying to convince my DH to do the packing and he says "I don't do the packing when I go...why would I try when I'm staying here? You know I can't do it as good as you honey." Hmmmm.....sounds like he wants something. :rotfl:
I'll start packing the necessities tomorrow after I sew up some more diapers since Boo has outgrown all but 3 and that's nowhere near enough for a week long trip. Then I start the :laundy: for the trip....this list is getting longer instead of shorter...how does that happen? :D
