Ok, so I made our first ressie as DVC members yesterday- October 5 at SSR. I wasn't given a ressie number because I was using developer points and the CM said that it would be a bit before I got a confirmation but that I DID have a ressie.
So I call back today to give them the flight information for the ME and, of course, they wanted a ressie number, which I don't have .
Does all of this sound like the normal when using developer points? I guess that they keep them on another system. I also just by that 10 day holding period today as well and won't close until mid-month. The whole deal makes me a bit paranoid. Among the "what if's"
What if the ressie "disappears"
What if the ME docs don't arrive in time?
I prefer to install the ME tags before I leave so I'm concerned that the tags won't arrive in time. Of course, if they don't, I'll just claim the bags and check them on the bus.
I'm just looking for some advice and recent experiences using developer points. How about it fellow DVC members?
Hey, anyone going to be at SSR the first week of October?

I'm about 80% sure we got a reservation # when we booked with our developer points, but we didn't get the paperwork for quite a few weeks afterward.

So they weren't able to find your reservation for the ME addition? They should still be able to find it by your DVC member #, I think. Not trying to make you nervous, but I think I would be nervous if it was me.

My guide booked mine and gave me a reservation number a few days later. Oddly, this is kind of normal for developer points. You do need to give it a couple days to get recorded as I hear it is more of a manual type of task. The printed confirmation came about 3 weeks afterwords for one of them and I have never received one for the other one she booked for me.

Can't help with ME as I've never utilized that service.

It's crazy with developer points but I wouldn't be too worried about it yet.

I received a reservation number when I used my developer points, however I have read quite a fews posts where people didn't get a number for a few days.

We received a reservation number by mail a few days later. I also noticed that I had transferred points into my account on dvcmember site which made me feel better until I had my reservation number. Have a great trip!

I was told you could book Developer Points at day of deposit..Must be used within 1 yr from date of deposit....

Question....If say I was short anywhere between 7 and 75 points, and my use yr was March 09 and I intended on making a reservation in August 08 for August 09 using Developer Points at one of the three Disneyland Hotels or through Interval can I "borrow" those points?

Thank you............:goodvibes :goodvibes

Completely normal. Apparently a manager has to book ressies with developer points. Your room is put on hold and guaranteed to you. I called back the next two days, and I had a ressie # by the second day after I called.

Thanks to all the disBoard members who replied. I called today and got in touch with a MS person who was really into providing a good customer service experience. Although I still don't have a ressie number, she confirmed that the space was held. She also helped me with my pin number for accessing dvc member.com which should have been mailed last week. I also was concerned that my AP vouchers had not arrived and she took care of that for me as well- the AP's will be available at will call and no voucher will be sent. It's all very easy if you get the right person at MS.

Glad to hear it worked out!

And Jerseygal -- I didn't follow all of the details of your post, but if I read it right:

Your Aug 09 vacation is in your 2009 use year (March 2009 - Feb 2010), so you don't need to borrow any points. For lack of a better description, the points are drawn from the use year when your trip is scheduled, not from when you make your reservation.

In other words, your points are already there for 2009 use year, and as long as your trip falls within that use year, no borrowing is needed.

However, throwing the developer points and the Disneyland collection stuff into the mix has me a bit befuddled. I don't think it makes any difference, just make sure you use your developer points before they expire.
