I thought I saw on dueling dragons it was a stand up roller coaster but on the brochure I received it looks as if riders are sitting. Can anyone clarify this for me?

It's an inverted coaster. You are sitting and the track is above your head. Your legs dangle.

If you can get the front row the ride feels totally different than from any other row. Worth trying to get at least once.

There are no stand-up coasters in Florida. The closest to Orlando is the Georgia Scorcher in Six Flags Over Georgia.

And our family (especially me) likes Ice. It is a swoopier coaster. If you head over there first thing in the morning, it is much faster to get front row.

Which side seems scarier? I couldn't ride being there alone with a kid who doesn't like coasters but Fire looked spookier to me from what I could see.

We did walk through the queue and it's the best I've ever seen.

Fire is the wilder ride. Ice is the smooth ride.

Yeah but Ice has the "close encounter" with the castle.

As mudd said, make sure you ride the front row of both fire and ice. I always go to DD as soon as the park opens and ride the front row of both over and over. I can't quite decide which I prefer. The last row of Fire will get you some good air time. It's a great coaster no matter where you sit, but the front row is incredible.

Is there any chance of having access to the front row with FOTL? For example skip the queue to the point where the queue splits?

Nope. You gotta get there early for the front. Otherwise the line is long in the afternoon.
FOTL people are let in, right before you make the decision of what coaster to ride.
If you're a single rider, you could wait for row 2, and hope for an empty seat in the front.

The FOTL privlege allows you to skip the majority of the line, but you're subjected to whatever amount of wait is in the front row line. As said before, if you get there early, you'll have no problem and the re-ride entrance should be open.

I prefer the first row of Ice (that building seems SO close) and the back row of Fire (G force made my face feel that is was being stretched lke Gumby). We tried many different rows on both coasters when we were there last month. We couldn't get enough!
