Detroit Metro Airport hotels

Anyone ever flew out of Detroit Metro and stayed at a hotel near the airport before their flight? Wondering if this would be an option. I've looked at parking - and it will run around $45-49 for 7 days parking.

Any nearby hotels offering a decent park and fly rate you know of? Our flight leaves at 7:25 am - so we'll be leaving home around 4:30 to get to airport around 5:30 am.

Thanks.

There are several hotels right near Metro airport. I seem to remember a Courtyard and a Fairfield (both by Mariott), as well as a few others that offer Park and Fly.

Perhaps this article from the Detroit Free Press would be helpful?

All of the Marriotts (but for the "airport" location next to the terminal) offer great rates for park and fly. Quinta is another that offers a good park and fly rate. We've stayed around the airport on many trips and the hotels are fine. This trip we chose the Courtyard by Marriott with a park & fly feature--the rate was $129 (no AAA discounts on P&F) and with that you receive an 8 day free parking. If you figure the cost of parking at Metro balanced by the cost of a hotel room, it's pretty decent.

Do a search on Expedia for "Romulus" hotels and you'll fine a multitude. We originally had another hotel booked, but it has gone belly-up, (and we had stayed at this particular hotel on other occasions) at a really great rate of $79 p/night with 8 day parking! :earseek: Guess that's why they are no longer in business! :) This particular hotel has changed hands many times over the years--used to be a Sheraton. I think there might actually be a new Sheraton over that way now.

Metro has many, many options and I'm sure you could better the rate I quoted. We just like the Marriott chain and location to Metro.

I believe the on-site Mariott that was actually in the old terminal closed when the Westin opened at the new terminal.

We always stay at Days Inn on Middlebelt. They have a 24 hr. shuttle. I think our rate was around $80 and that included 7 days of parking. Normally they send you over to U.S. Park to park your vehicle and any extra days you pay directly to US Park. This past March the DI manager told us to just park in their parking lot in front. We had our truck there an extra 4 days and didn't get charged for it. Be sure to check their prices along with HoJo's right next door.
