Hello,

We usually fly Southwest out of Buffalo, however, yesterday we got an awesome flight from Detroit to Las Vegas for $50.00 each way in August.

I have never flown from Detroit. If any fellow disers have any advice I would greatly appreciate it.

Thanks

I've never flown SW out of Detroit but use Spirit Air or Air Tran which both fly out of the same terminal as SW (Smith). Not sure what advice you're looking for so ask away for any specifics.

I can tell you that there are several, easy access, parking lots with continuous shuttle service, as well as several hotels within a few kms which all offer park n stay packages. The airport also has a parking lot which runs about $8.00 per day with frequent shuttles.

The terminal itself is old and undergoing renovations but the time to get checked in and through security has never been more that 30 to 45 minutes total. However, always be sure to allow enough time for the unusual.

For crossing into the US, I prefer Windsor because it's never more than 10 to 20 minutes to get through customs. I boat up in Sarnia (summer only of course) and every weekend I'm there, the radio is always talking about a 30 to 60 minute wait to get through customs.

Hope this is a good start for you.

David

We flew SouthWest out of Detroit in Aug '05 (got a better deal than Buffalo). The boarder is quicker than Buffalo like the above poster mentioned. No problems with the flight it was just as easy as Buffalo (we stayed overnight).
