Details you really love about the Haunted Mansion

I just like the whole thing. I do favor the raven with the red eyes as you go backwards and looking up though. Here's a couple of shots from back in December......

When I went in April my friend and I were saying the speal in the stretching elevator and we were standing nearish the CM working and when the lights went out we screamed like fools and when I lights came on the CM was standing between and said he'd like congratulate us on our vast knowledge of the mansion because we know the speal verbatim... he said it in a monotone creepy voice too which just made it that much cooler :cool1:

I love everything Haunted Mansion. I love it so much my DH proposed to me on the ride in front of the ballroom. My fav detail is the ghost host and the crow. Even though I know the idea didn't pan out I still always look for the crow and kind of imagine him telling me the story. I also love the jumping heads in the attic saying I DO! :hmghost: :hmghost: :hmghost:

That is amazing you were proposed to on the Haunted Mansion! It really is the best ride ever and it's funny because I am a total thrill ride and rollercoaster enthusiast.

Sorry to say but the "I do" corpses in the attic are for the history books but I think you will really like the new additions to the attic, it really is great and the more I see it the more I appreciate all it's new details.

Also rejoice, the beloved corpses jumping out from the tombstones still reside in the graveyard after the attic but the don't say "I do" like the long-lost attic jumping cadavers.

I would love to be proposed to on that ride!! That would be so cool!!!!!!!

I love the HMH too, I've got loads of faves on that ride but the ultimate is the plant chandelier. Love that!!! And the Sally portrait in the hallway, I love that one too!

I know the spiel pretty good too, so do the girls, they will recite it while we are going down and scream at the end. LOL They don't normally scream loud, but they do scream.

"Check out the guy walling himself in at the end of the cemetary, its creepy and cool!"

OK I'm an idiot b/c I thought he was trying to break OUT.

For anyone who screams in the stretching room, PLEASE do a quick check for little kids. Screamers on HMH were what caused utter panic in my son, when he was being brave and doing fine...but adults shrieking in panic scared the heck out of him, and we had the "pleasure" of taking the chicken exit (you want to go on a scary adventure, take that exit, ugh). If there are little ones in the room with you, pleeeeease don't do the screaming. Please?

As for HMH, when I finally got to go on it last December (in '05 it wasn't open yet, in '06 screamers sent me and DS out, in sept '07 it opened our last day there and I couldn't get a chance to ride, in dec '07 I finally did) and I hated hated hated it! Ugh I hated it! Then again, I have never wanted to watch NBC b/c of the images, so it's not a surprise.

You guys can keep your HMH, I'll take the normal ride. :)

I think I remember that... they took them out when they put the new bride in right? I think I've only seen her once or twice because seems like we always go during December and see HMH. I miss the old bride sometimes... but I do like the new one... her little hatchet is a nice touch ;)

First he is walling himself in, you can see a trowel in his hand with cement and a wheelbarrel of bricks and stuff in front of his masoleum. Now you have to check it out :)

I have to say as a huge NBC fan I so want to make you watch the movie now :rotfl: I think it is the sweetest story with such a great moral. I adore it!!!

But again I am the person who got a pass just to ride HMH over a 100 times in two years :rotfl2: I might be biased :)

I saw an elevator proposal at the HMH event in 2004 and it was sooooo sweet!!! I think that is just so cool!!

I have to admit that adults screaming for the effect is one of my pet peeves. On a few occasions, it caused others to panic including my own kids. My kids calmed down and still rode the ride after I explained that the adults were just screaming for effect and were being inconsiderate of other.

I also can't stand HMH and would never ride it again.

I can understand the screaming part might be scary for kids but honestly I think when you take a kid on a ride called the HAUNTED Mansion you are asking for them to be scared. I mean when I was a kid people always screamed in the elevator and I always screamed with them. My parents always made sure I knew it was not going to hurt me and if I was too scared they didn't try to get me to go. I think screaming is part of the fun of the elevator its great when you have a whole bunch of adults doing it. DL is as much for adults as it is for kids... I think people have a right to enjoy it their way... (so long as no one is physically harmed and completely emotionally scarred which I doubt people screaming on the elevator would do) :confused3

I agree the screaming in the elevator can be a little scary for some.....especially if you're not expecting it. I wasn't planning on taking my son on it last year, he was 3 at the time. Yet he begged to go on it so I caved. We got in the elevator and I told him when the lights went out we had to scream louder than anyone else. He knew WELL ahead of time what would happen. I think the figure hanging up above is scarier than the screaming. DS didn't see that....I buried his face in my chest. He got a kick out of screaming on that and everytime we saw the (snowman) as he calls it on the Matterhorn. That's what gets him on the ride. I guess he hears mommy say enough, Shhhhhh inside voice....sometimes mommy really lets him get it out, at DL lol

See I think thats the way to go... Tell the kids to scream as loud as they can and then they can have fun too! And also preparing them for the lights to go off... I think you did it perfectly!

For the record, my girls don't scream at the top of their lungs unless a bunch of other people do it. If there is a group of people that scream loud so my kids but if they are the only screaming people they are not screaming loudly. And I would have to agree with the above poster, it's the HM, first thing I told my kids was, people scream on the elevator and you will ride in your own Doom Buggy. They were fine with it.

- In the graveyard, towards the end there is a small mausoleum-type structure that has an open front and when the Doombuggy turns toward it (right before turning to the last set of ghosts by the green light) there is a really neat ghostly image of a white-shrouded, faceless spirit figure inside it and it is maybe the best ghost effect on the ride! It is almost real looking!

Did I mention I kinda like the Haunted Mansion?? :rotfl2: :worship:

Hidden Mickey.....

I have loved the mansion since 1974. The Leotas are my favorites; but I just love the whole place. Can't wait to get there tomorrow...

Hidden Mick in the ghost in the mausoleum? Cool. Please elaborate!

You know another thing that is really cool and has been the same forever is the wallpaper in the doorknock hallways that has the eyeballs looking at you. Creepola!

Also, I remember the old scared man and the skinny dog at the gate of the graveyard used to be animatronic, they used to move. They currently don't. Someone needs to tell the imagineers we want this fixed as it makes the ride so much better as they are the only "living" characters on the doombuggy part of the ride and it just works well to have that animatronic movement.

One of the best details that makes everything come together is the great music, the organs and the song... So, so Disneyland even if it is the first ride that was designed without Walt's oversight.

I love love love this ride, besides POTC this is my favorite ride. My favorite things are the floating candles in the hallway and I love the birthday party and the dancing ghosts. When we went last Aug it was the first time we saw Madam Leota's (sp?) ball floating, before it was always just sitting on the table and I really liked the new stuff about the bride and her husbands. I really love the HMH most (my daughter is watching Nightmare before Christmas right now actually!) I love how Jacks head is at the top of the elevator when the lights go off, Zero in the hallway... ahhhh I just love all of it. We are going back this Oct and I cant wait!

I like how the hallway portraits are altered by the flashes from the lightning in the windows on the opposite side of the hallway.

Yes, yes, yes... that is cool! I just wish they didn't change the images from the old ones.

I know it seems obvious but does anyone ever really notice how many spiderwebs there are everywhere?

Ever count the amount of times the raven appears?

Let's talk about the Haunted Mansion!

The moving sidewalk where you get on and of the Doom Buggies is new:

I love that it reminds me of my mother in laws house. Full of old antiques. HAHA
